Tai Lung becoming the dragon warrior completely goes against the first film. Jim’s accepting that he isn’t the dragon warrior is a better story that they went with.
Even though he actually never really dreamed of being the dragon warrior shifu basically just put that into his head so much that he basically thought that’s all he had to live up to
