- Bissau, Guinea Bissau Africa Ep.5. Gatecrashing A Traditional African Wedding in Guinea Bissau.
In the last episode while doing a random drive in Bissau city, we came across a group of people dancing in the streets. We later learnt that it was a wedding. In order to experience the culture and way of life we asked if we could follow them to wherever they were going. They agreed!
In this episode I'd love you to fillow us gatecrash a wedding in Bissau. 🤣🤣. What a life!
So we met them at the ministry of Justice building of which I guess the registrar of marriages is here.
The dancers were jamming to the beats as some people lay pieces of cloth at the entrance of the building for the newly Weds to walk on their way out.
The couple are escorted to their car with the dancers. Before they leave the dancers randomly sing and dance to passersby and the people around and they give the dancers some donations.
We then followed the couple to the man's house.
At the man's house there's more music dance and food. The couple get to the house where there's a full table set with food and cake. There's a few minutes of speeches before they can eat. Meanwhile on the outside the dancers and the people gathered will be eating.
Once the couple finishes eating , they leave the man's house to the woman's home. They are accompanied by the dancers and other community members.
At the woman's home, there's more dance, music and prayers. More like what happened at the man's house.I couldn't eat at the woman's home as I was already full. Eventually anyone can leave at their own pleasure.
This was definitely a beautiful experience worth following or gatecrashing. Despite the language barrier, they were extremely kind and delighted to have us.

African Tigress, I would just like to thank you and Temdri for this fabulous trip. I watch everything you do. But this one is very special to my heart ❤. I just found out From African Ancestry DNA, that I'm of Balanta decent From Guinea Bissau 🇬🇼. I was beginning to have mixed feelings about visiting from your fiasco at the border, but due to an intelligent conversation with Mr. Temdri, who I am now a subscriber, and the present adventures, I can now say that I am planning a trip to my Ancestry home. Thank you guys so much. Please keep it up, and show as much of Guinea Bissau 🇬🇼 as you can. My prayers and many blessings be upon you both. 🙏
The people are so warm and friendly.

@11:21 Allelu Allelu Allelu Alleluia....Gracas a Deus,.... Alleulia, Gracas a Deus..... Praise ye the Lord!!!! I recognised this song but I was listening closely whether it was being song in Portuguese or English. By the way, I was initially "worried" about who the man's bride was but then I was very happy when they arrived at the man's house--and I got my answer and then I began to dance :). Great work Tigress :)

Do they have a functioning government in that country? It seems since the Portuguese left in 1973, there has been no development. Lack of paved roads in the city and lack of sanitation. Their citizens deserve better. SMH.
Good adventure A.T and your traveling partner.
There are parts with paved roads. Stay tuned for the next episode

President Joe Biden said that signing legislation into law on Thursday establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day -- a US federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States -- will go down as "one of the greatest honors" of his presidency.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger announced the end of slavery in Galveston, Texas, in accordance with President Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. Only a handful of states currently observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday. The bill passed the House on Wednesday with a 415-14 vote after the Senate unanimously passed the legislation the day before. take care and God bless
