  • This video is a full and comprehensive review of the Iwata Custom Micron CM-B airbrush. I have to say that out of any airbrush I've tested, this one is still holds the crown. Within this video I go over all the information I'd want to know before purchasing any airbrush including the air speed, spray pattern, controllability, and responsiveness. I've also included a short painting demo of a skull to talk about my opinions. Hope this one is helpful to some of you and thanks for watching.

    This video completes the 4 major detail airbrushes- the infinity , the sotar , the ps-771 and now the micron .
    Which airbrush would you like to see reviewed next?

      Question, you (like me) consider the CM series to be the best detail brush out there. Which one is #2 for you? If Iwata were to disappear tomorrow and take all of their airbrushes with them which one would you use in place of the CMB? I still have the original CMB and I feel like parts for it are getting harder to find and I'm contemplating having to replace it in the semi-near future and if I could avoid spending $500 on a new airbrush that would be great (I got mine in trade years ago).

      Easy- the Creos PS771. It's essentially the same airbrush as the mircon except for the price. Sprays just like it.@@JayAdan

      @@theartworkshop After digging through your reviews this morning I assumed that's what you would say. I'm curious if my CMB parts would fit on one since I have the older model.

    I custom shoes. Been doing it for 4 years. Started with eclipse and even went up to Iwata HP. Back in 2018 I discovered all the CM versions. But they were wayyyyy out of my price range
    Fast forward to 2022 I finally get the takumi for $695 and let me tell you.
    I want another!! It’s fire. Of course there’s the gratification of finally being able to afford it. But I’m terms of airbrushing it’s better.
    It’s hard to explain. But it just feels better, sprays better,adds more confidence, has a nice weight to it, it’s like driving your rich uncle’s brand new car to the store and your only used to driving an old Honda with radiator issue.
    Long story short it feel powerful. I recommended saving for it even if it takes years like me. Just be sure NOT TO BREAK ANYTHING ON IT. PARTS ARE NOT POCKET FRIENDLY

    For someone painting miniatures with loads of transitions and blends with acrylics. How much better would you say a CM preforms than an Eclipse?

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  2 роки тому +3

      The micron is so much better for what you are describing. For small intricate detail work it's like night and day between the micron and the eclipse. Go with the micron!

    I recently ordered a Takumi Eclipse as I’m new to airbrushing and it felt great to use. I’m worried by the needle size as it’s 0.3 will I be able to create fine portrait details like a 0.18? Thanks for your insight!

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  2 роки тому +1

      yeah, absolutely. I can do everything with an eclipse (.35) that I can with a micron (.18). it's just a bit easier to use a micron for detail work.

      I love the soft spring. My finger really feels the difference when I switch airbrushes to one that doesn't have it. I purchased mine from Spraygunner 3 years ago for $11. They now have it for $30; triple the price for a ten cent part. Ridiculous inflation and greed. What I recommend is buying an el-cheapo Chinese airbrush for under $20 and swapping the air valve spring. That way you get another AB for spraying nasties that you wouldn't put through your Iwata and also get a soft spring too. Hello, please tell me how the Micron 0.18 model relates to water-based acrylic for painting miniatures? Second question, please explain: some Micron models have a 0.23 nozzle, tell me how with such a nozzle you can achieve the finest detail in painting? On the official website I saw 4 versions of Microns, I was interested in the SM-B2 model, tell me which one is better to choose from the four?

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  10 місяців тому

      I only use water based paints with my microns. They spray great- just get a water based paint designed for an airbrush.
      The .18 and the .23 microns spray surprisingly similar. For me personally, it's kind of hard to tell the difference. The ones I own now are both .18 models- CM-B and the tukumi. You can't go wrong with any micron, but I like the takumi and the cm-b the most
