Awesome, I love listening to Christians who can still think, and give honor to the Word of God. Religious traditions still keep the majority in the dark ages.

Wow wow wow. I’ve been exploring religion because I was raised atheist and this REALLY appeals to my sense of logic. It’s like believing in God is not wishful thinking, it more like reality is much more incredible than we can even imagine... which makes sense for our tiny pea brains. 🤪 I’m going to watch the rest of these videos! Thank you!!

I am so glad I found this video! Not only is it a great message, but I now know something more about a brother in Christ that I highly respect, Dr. Jason Lisle. The fact that he holds Ken Gentry to such high regard, tells me that Dr. Lisle and I hold the same view of eschatology. Awesome! We are such a small minority of the church. I really hope that God changes that soon. We need the book of Revelation to be praised for the masterwork that it is. GOD kept His word. He always does. I'm so happy. Lol

He does that because we have read passages of scriptures many times and we can fall into a pattern of glossing over it by what we have always thought it means. But, when we are praying for direction, or discernment, He often uses that same scripture, and we see it from a new way as the answer we need when we see it as He wants us to.

I've watched other lectures from Dr. Lisle, and he is always able to shed new light on tough questions from scripture, and he does it in such a logical manner that all can understand. An amazing mind and a scholar of the Bible, along with study from ancient historians and confirming evidence found by archeologists over the years. Even going back to the original translation of the ancient Hebrew Old Testament, which is the Septuagint, if we are looking for further clarification in proper context. He always produces "WOW!" moments.

This is such a tremendous exposition of God’s Word. I love to investigate His Word to learn from it, rather than super impose our traditional manger scene style ideas upon it. There is so much to be gained from this style of Bible study. “Line upon line, precept upon precept.” Praise God for His Word!

So true! The world sees the "Christmas card version" too much, and we can fall into the trap of seeing historical Biblical evidence as a "Bible Story", a myth, or from a poetic viewpoint. It's why the secular world has such a misunderstanding of the Old Testament, especially when it comes to the accounts in Genesis.

Dr. Lisle, I want to add to your phenomenal presentation that, along with the star that the Maji saw, the shepherds in the fields witnessed the great company of angels, another supernatural sign. A matter is established by 2 or 3 witnesses. Whether the two were one and the same is speculative, but would corroborate each other.

    • @jamesengland7461
      @jamesengland7461 3 роки тому +1

@Toma Rogers the "few years later" isn't conclusive from scripture. Remember that Joseph and Mary actually lived in Galilee before they came to Bethlehem and were still, or again, in Bethlehem when the Maji arrived. Something to think about, but mostly what I was getting at was the sign in the sky that both the shepherds and the Maji saw could have been the same, though it's certainly possible they were at different times.

@@jknengr796 We are all sinners saved by grace. Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned". As a result we can be victims of sin. The miracle is when good things happen to us, not bad things. Hell was made for Satan and his evil followers. They will pay the price for evil behavior!!! God has made that very clear!! Luke 12:5 "But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him." It is better to fear God than man. Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." It is wrong and self deceiving to blame God for an imperfect sinful humans actions. Faith and hope are based on forgiveness not hate. And don't forget, an act of faith is just that. Hebrews 11:3"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible".

It Makes sense especially as he was well educated as counselor to the King., he was well favored & revered by the kings and other wise men, so they would heep his request, And they were all well trained in astronomy and mathematics

Yes, but Persia was also related to Daniel who was under Babylonian rule UNTIL Persian conquered Babylon. So the Magi could have been either FROM Persia or Babylon (or another related location) and may have learnt all from Daniel. The timing of Daniel's 70 weeks was another indicator of the fullness of time and the time of the end of this Jewish era.

I think though it is only a guess that Daniel being in Babylon and having the very office of adviser to the king may have been responsible for the Magi being in the first place. That would explain their knowledge of a Jewish King to come and while it is true that many Jews returned to Judea along with Nehemiah it was still only a small portion of all those in Babylon. It is therefore quite possible that these Magi were Jewish.

The journey of the Magi took around two years and by the time that they came to Jesus He was already around two years old and would have at that time been living in a house. In Matthew 2:9 the way it reads indicates that after they left Hared, the star reappears to lead them to the place where Jesus was...

There are a few organizations, and now Jason's. :) Jason came out of Answers in Genesis (AiG), then went to Institute for Creation Research (ICR), and now has started his own ministry: Biblical Science Institute. If you want, you can subscribe to his ministry with a monthly donation, or purchase DVD's from the site. All of the aforementioned are great resources; there's also another called Creation Today. While the information is certainly good, it does seems to be geared toward a younger audience, or someone who is relatively young in regard to learning about Creation. Regardless, all are good sources, and I'm sure there are many others out there.

Way back in 1980, before we even had the first IBM PC, Kenneth Boa and William Proctor published their book _The Return of the STAR OF BETHLEHEM (Comet, Stellar Explosion or Signal from Above?)_, Doubleday & Co., Inc. Although there are parts of the book which speak 'sensationally' about 'UFOs' of demons during the "End Times," the beginning chapters cover the Magi and then debunk all the theories of their time as to what the "star" could be, just as Jason does. Their conclusion was the same: It was supernatural; possibly the Shekinah glory of God. Here we are almost 40 years later! And if one reads Scripture as being the Word of God; absolutely true, there is no natural explanation for this phenomenon.

I have as a Christian always looked at the universe and everything created both visible and invisible good and evil as subject to a sovereign All-Mighty God under His power and control, down to the smallest particle. The Bible says that the footsteps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. That doesn’t mean that the wicked can do as they please, even Satan must obey the boundaries that God sets as displayed in the book of Job. He knows our thoughts before we think them, implies far more than just being able to read our minds, from the one who made us and knew us before the foundation of the earth, Who knitted us together in our Mothers womb, Who knows us completely far more intimately than we know ourselves. Add to that He knows the end from the beginning, if by saying that you realise that there is no end and by the beginning you mean the start of Creation, there is no beginning or start to our Creator. He knows absolutely everything that there is to know and His knowledge is without limits. Nothing can happen to Him by surprise like, I didn’t know that that was going to happen, everything He has planned and purposed and He doesn’t make mistakes. Jesus fell face down and prayed,” o My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will. This is The Son of God, the very object of The Father ‘s love, the very Creator of the universe, the One that The Father could not possibly Love more. Nobody could have greater persuasive powers than the very Son of God. Now I must insist that at that point in time that if there was another way that would achieve the end result that Creation was purposed for then The Father could have undone all of time and started over, when people ask why I believe that that is the answer. People also like to say that the creation was perfect to start with but the Bible doesn’t use that word at all. You look at the creation account and The Lord only is saying good and very good, if you mean that God perfectly achieved what He purposed to make you would be correct but that is not what is being said. If everything that God made was perfect then Adam would not have fallen, that is not my idea of perfect. By saying this I have not attacked His Word or contradicted it. His word is perfect but the creation He Created was corruptible. With Creation I believe that The Lord set an essential process in motion that ends with a perfect incorruptible universe void of sin and death, full of joy, love and everlasting fellowship between God and His children or His Wife and so on. If the Bible says that the Lord is not willing that any should perish, we aren’t talking about the will of a man. The Bible says that the Lord does what ever He pleases, that means that if He says that He is not willing that anyone should perish. Who is He referring to when He is saying that,” anyone should perish? “ those who He came to seek and to save, Who then are those who are perishing? The answers to that question is obvious in that it is not the ones chosen in Him before the foundation of the earth but the subject is one that is often met by hostility even though we on earth have no definite way to know outside of ourselves the real numbers being saved or lost, only biblical guidelines so we can get an idea in our own circle of experience. People have a habit of jumping to wrong conclusions based on ignorance but I have always believed that because I believe in a perfect Loving all knowing God, that when I am with Him and He tells me answers to all those things that I might ask, I know with confidence right now that nothing He has done will cause anything but praise. I have a quiet confidence that there’s more to understand about the lost then people are realising, this is a result of prayerful study and I am not prepared to go into this subject any further in my comment here. My advice is to obey Scripture if you want to know more about the subject “ seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. God Bless to all my brothers and sisters in Christ...

And you will have everlasting life. We were meant for so much more than this world and sadly I think everyone on the planet knows it with every fiber of their being but the lost ones just don't want to follow the path because they don't think it'll be as much fun or however they'd like to justify not believing. But the feeling when you not only believe but Know god is real isn't possible to put into words. But I've went on enough. Thank you for your comment. The supernatural explanation is really the only one that fits. The conjunction of Jupiter and Regulus in the constellation of Virgo clothed in the sun with the moon at her feet was definitely a sign that pointed to the birth of the Messiah, but not the star in question. The star that the Magi followed was not anything explained by the "natural" order of the heavenly bodies.

Maybe if the star was over a City and there were no other city’s near by. I would be hard enough to do with a cloud depending on how high the cloud is. Herod was not stupid but extremely paranoid about usurpers to his throne where he'd kill his family to save his power. After he pumped the men for information, well, there is a reason Herod selected age 2 and under to wipe out. Even the FBI would call that a clue. Obvious the men traveled from a long distance for Herod to suspect the Christ child was 2 or younger.

If the magi came 40 days after Jesus' birth, then they would have traveled to Nazareth to meet him. Luke 2 describes Jesus' birth and his dedication in the Temple 8 days later. Then Luke 2 finishes the birth account in vs 39, "When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth." This includes Mary's purification sacrifice 40 days after Jesus' birth as required in Old Testament law (Lev 12: 1-8). So 40 days after Jesus was born, He, Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth. So if the magi were to visit Jesus in Bethlehem, it would have been within 40 days of his birth. If they visited Jesus when he was older, then they would have traveled to Nazareth.
Matthew never states that the Magi went to Bethlehem. It only states Herod told the magi that's where Jesus should be. Then after leaving Herod, the Magi saw the star and followed the star to Jesus' house. The house could be in Bethlehem or Nazareth. It could go either way.

  • @jameswelsh3433
    @jameswelsh3433 3 роки тому

I think it’s possible that the Magi first saw the star “at its rising” (because they are fanatical star watchers), but this was something beyond their experience. A star rising in the west?!? So they then search their vast library for anything that happened like this before, or had been prophesied to. Because of the Jewish captivity, and especially Daniel’s position as the leader of the wise men, they had Jewish scriptures in their library (though perhaps not Micah. All the books of the Old Testament weren’t all in one volume).
When they found the prophecy, they made arrangements and set off for Israel, perhaps partially because they are power brokers, and this was part of their diplomacy.
They may even have come to realize it’s truthfulness because it was something unheard of in all their (vast) knowledge. Seeing a star rising in the west, that was predicted hundreds of years earlier would definitely have made an “impression” [my understatement]. It certainly would to me!
And then, like you said, perhaps they got discouraged because of the obliviousness there when they got to Jerusalem. But then the star reappeared, and so on....
I have no basis other than a hunch, but I strongly suspect it was about a year’s time, and that Herod doubled the time frame for the murders just to be sure. A tyrant like that would, at least, double the time frame.
Anyhow, that’s my food for thought. It you made it this far, I would love to hear your thoughts about this.

They obviously live east of Jerusalem so when they arrive at Jerusalem naturally when they are explaining their presence they will say they saw the star in the east were they are from, that doesn’t mean that the star that they seen wasn’t West of them at the time, depends on wow you read it. They don’t say anything about following the star until after they leave Herod, following the star from where they lived is assumed. They knew when they seen the star that it meant that The Messiah was born king of the Jews and were He was to be born the same way that the Jewish scribes knew, from Scripture. Don’t forget it was around two years later and being King they naturally went to Herod to find out were Jesus The King was. It doesn’t sound like they were following a star the whole time and went around asking for directions because the star disappeared behind a cloud or something.i don’t have a vast photographic memory of the entire Bible, I am only finding what is said about Jesus birth in Matthew and Luke, the other Two gospel accounts don’t say anything...

"It was not a fixed star, nor a planet and the phenomenon excited the keenest interest. That star was a company of shining angels, but of this the wise men were ignorant."

The step of logic that many make that I can’t understand is the idea that it was 2 years because Herod killed those under 2.
1If you wanted to be sure to kill a new born, you would kill those up to a certain age. I’m sure that if Herod thought that Jesus could have been 2 years old, he would have ordered all under 5s to be killed
2 he didn’t necessarily know how long the Magi had been travelling.
3 if the Magi had been following Daniels prophecies, they could have set of to arrive at the time of his birth, not after, the star could just have been a confirmation.
4 the distance from Babylon to Jerusalem is about 500 miles. You can cover over 30miles per day on a horse, so I see little reason to expect the travel time to be more than a month.
The idea that Jesus was actually born before 4bc, comes mostly from Josephus reporting that Herod died 4bc. This is thought to be a copy error and earlier copies have 2bc. Josephus is also not necessarily 100% accurate.
I would love to see a discussion with different experts to try to tie down the year of Jesus birth, his death and which day he was crucified.
From my accumulated information I would propose:
Born about 2bc at feast of tabernacles in September.
    Started ministry at age 30.
    3.5 years ministry
Entry into Jerusalem 10 Nissan (time of
Crucified, Wednesday, erev pesach (14 Nissan) in year about 32ad.

I sense replacement theory in your teaching. Israel as a nation will always be blessed as God does not break his promise, if it was replaced, why would God bother bringing it to existence again. Why not just let it disappear as a nation as it almost was, but out of the ashes (the holocaust) they came back to life and existence. That’s God’s work and promise fulfilled. Also, the apostles who are the foundation of Christianity were Jews. Paul himself said that the Gospel is salvation to the Jew first and then to the Greek, as Christ came for what was lost. Gentiles are “grafted” into the tree and not the other way around. This is anecdotic but the greatest teachings I have heard are from Jews who believe in Christ. Also, it’s interesting to note how many great discoveries in science and technology were done by Jews (as well as terrible inventions such as the atomic bomb). To me, they are people who carry blessing from old, from ancient times. God’s plan was to redeem them and to any gentile who also believes. He extended his redemption plan to all the world but Israel is still a central part of his plan. Why would Christ return to Jerusalem? Why not the United States or some other place? Because Jerusalem is still his holy city and Israel his holy land. I recommend you listen to Dr. Michael Heiser’s lectures on sacred geography so that you can gain some insight on how important sacred geography is to God. If you do, a lot of Old Testament scripture will make a lot of sense.

at ~55 minutes you say that God upholds all laws of logic and laws of nature, which I am compelled to believe, but wouldn't the degradation of these same laws kind of contradict this? Like death, does God really uphold my decaying and dying? It's easy to know that he upholds my life, but it doesn't feel quite right to say that he's actively upholding the laws that also beget death.
... And I'm not trying to stump or do some sorta "gotcha" thing, it's just an honest question I have, because your view IS so compelling.

"does God really uphold my decaying and dying?"
I think this misunderstands the concept. When God cursed everything it started the decay process. The best way I understand it is that decay is a sort of loosening of Gods upholding power or maybe like a result of a changing of how God previously upheld things before the Fall.
Think about Deuteronomy 29:5 "I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal has not worn out on your foot."
How did God do that? He perhaps made the bonds of the atoms of their clothing and sandals to be indestructibly strong so that it would not deteriorate. Or think about The Book of Daniel, where Daniel's three friends were sent into the fiery furnance, God perhaps made those men and their clothing indestructible or removed the heat and flames before it would touch them (just don't know), the fire did not even leave a smell on them and they were also physically comfortable in that intense fire, what exactly God did to achieve this is only something He could answer. But think about it, God could make anything literally indestructible if He wanted to, to make something indestructible to destructible may not be about what He does do but what He doesn't do. Decay and your dying maybe more about or a result of what God no longer does.
      This is an interesting topic.

That's a good question. Remember that death was the curse that befell man as a result of the fall in the garden. He also pronounced a curse on the ground and in other parts of Scripture is says that the universe groans in anticipation of the return of christ. The Law of Entropy makes more sense in a Christian worldview in my opinion. God judged man, by which sin entered the world, by death. Romans 1:18 also describes that the moral decay in man is also righteous judgement from God for them rejecting Him.

I wish there was a Biblically accurate nativity movie. Since there isn't one, I sure would like one to be made, with Jason Lisle as one of the writers.

Since no currently living person was there, we will unfortunately never know (this side of eternity) all the details outside of what Scripture tells us.
Anyway, maybe try "The Chosen" by Dallas Jenkins here on UA-cam. That is a short film from the shepherd's perspective.
I also thought that "The Christmas Experience" by Kyle Idleman was pretty well done. Neither are "perfect" of course, but worth a watch in my opinion.

Daniel 9,24 Seventy weeks [of years, or 490 years] are decreed upon your people and upon your holy city [Jerusalem], to finish and put an end to transgression, to seal up and make full the measure of sin, to purge away and make expiation and reconciliation for sin, to bring in everlasting righteousness (permanent moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) to seal up vision and prophecy and prophet, and to anoint a Holy of Holies.
25 Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until [the coming of] the Anointed One, a Prince, shall be seven weeks [of years] and sixty-two weeks [of years]; it shall be built again with [city] square and moat, but in troublous times. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks [of years] shall the Anointed One be cut off or killed and shall have nothing [and no one] belonging to [and defending] Him. And the people of the [other] prince who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood; and even to the end there shall be war, and desolations are decreed. [Isa. 53:7-9; Nah. 1:8; Matt. 24:6-14.] 27 And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week [seven years]. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator.
    1 schavua = 7 years à 360 days (compare Revelation 11,2-3: 42 months - (42 : 12 months= 3,5 years) - X 30 days = 1260 days : 3,5 years = 360 days a year)
    70 schavuot = 490 years

[The next day, the large crowd that had come for the festival heard that Yeshua was on his way into Yerushalayim. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Deliver us!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of Adonai , the King of Isra’el!” After finding a donkey colt, Yeshua mounted it, just as the Tanakh says - “Daughter of Tziyon, don’t be afraid! Look! your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.” His talmidim did not understand this at first; but after Yeshua had been glorified, then they remembered that the Tanakh said this about him, and that they had done this for him. Yochanan (Jhn) 12, 12‭-‬16]

Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth. Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech. Isaiah 28, 14‭-‬23].

(Revelation 12, 14: And to the woman [Israel] were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.)

While I appreciate that a "genius" such as- Dr. Jason would give an exhaustive explanation on the subject, doesn't the Bible teach that ANGELS often do the inexplicable things of God? "That star was a distant company of shining angels,..." Desire of Ages page 60.
