I absolutely LOVE this song. My sister had the 45 and I’d play it over and over. There were several Carole King songs that she wrote with her ex husband that I loved in the early 60’s and later discovered that she wrote. It was great having older siblings because I was exposed to so much music and every sibling had their own special interests. And then I had my own.
Just discovered this absolutely brilliant soul singer and performer. He exudes warmth and love, and just takes your breath away - no wonder he had the reputation of the best soul singer around from none other than Bert Berns
@Merryam Scott…I’m so sorry for the loss of your Father. I tried looking up his biography to find out if he had a wife, kids, etc., but could never find anything. You Father had a billion dollar voice of gold, and even though I was only 6 when this song came out, my family was really into music, so I know all the songs from the ‘60s. It was a great era for music. Would you happen to know the year of this concert? I wish there were more live performances of Mr.Scott. I’m so glad that I came across this one. 💞 Thank you, Mr. Scott, for sharing your voice with the world, and even though you didn’t get the recognition I feel you deserved on earth, your legacy will live on, forever, and now you’re getting the recognition you deserve…in Heaven. …And I’m sure that The Choir of Angels are happy, and proud to have you singing with them, for all eternity. ❤😊
Summer of '63, just before innocence ended on 11/22, that glorious summer had some of our very best music, & this for sure was one. No matter what I was doing, I'd stop to sing-along to Mr. Freddie Scott. -I was 16 y/o. ----------Wolfsky9
Rich! Yes! Love your work and arrangements!! Thank you for all the wonderful music. I listen to many of these shows daily, including “You’l Never Find,” by the great Lou Rawls.
written and composed by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It first became a popular Top ten hit on the Hot 100 in August, 1963 when recorded by Freddie Scott. Donny Osmond took the song back to the top ten chart with his remake in 1971. There have also been many other cover versions of this song, including by the Righteous Brothers and Billy Joel in 1997.
I hear you and the world lost a wonderful talent. I listened to this song for years after a breakup with a girl I loved. I love my wife and know the other knows how I feel also. She is a wonderful woman who made me feel good inside. These tunes were great and one day all of us are no longer here but it is good to know we could share in their beautiful music.
freddie scott was magnificent on this heart pulling song , was fortunate to be with him before, during and after a performance at the rumpus room nightclub in millbrook, ny, played in the backing band , thrilling !
Irony Freddie Scott is introduced by Richard roundtree.. coming out wearing his all black leather and turtleneck looking like SHAFT👊.... THE CHARACTER RICHARD ROUNDTREE MADE FAMOUS 😂🤣😂😂
Haha , I added on another comment that Billy Joels' version was better . I actually read it myself and laughed . They are both fantastic but I'm always torn between the originals and covers. Sorry Billy , I have to give the edge to Freddy's version but you are awesome as well .
... so just be a robot and sing it exactly the same way note for note at every show, every concert, every tavern, every bar, every gig for 60 years? um... right. Try to put yourself in their shoes and give it some thought. On the other hand, you might just download the mp3 and listen to it over and over again about 800 times... and then see if you want to put on a different song. See there? Now you have some perspective on it.
I get it. It's tiresome and boring for the artist to sing it the same way every time. But, if you're in the audience, you came to hear what you remember as the hit song you enjoyed, and possibly even purchased. It doesn't need to be perfect, but close to the original is best. There are some who can do it.
He was still singing like a mighty, soulful angel.....thank you for this beautiful performance of this beautiful song.

A great song and a stone cold soul performance from Freddie given due respect by getting a full orchestral backing .
Fabulous stuff.
50 years later, and he still has it. What a legend!
Cant Nobody do it like FREDDIE..-
If I was ever going to leave a man, and he sang this song to me, the way Freddie Scott is singing it, I would never leave him. ❤🥰❤
Same here.
Thank you Freddie for sharing your amazing talent with the world. You own this song, no one sings it better than you. RIP, I will miss you. ❤️❤️
You are Missed Dad 😢

She had to go away, she was an Uber driver. Kidding aside a tremendous song and performance
What did Chuck Jackson think of that recording ?
He missed out on a great song, they say he turned this song down...big mistake.

And what has the ew
Old school music is the best . I DOO NOT SEE OR HEAR WHAT THE 20T
I hate it when artists "jazz up" their own songs. Just sing it the way it was recorded.
... so just be a robot and sing it exactly the same way note for note at every show, every concert, every tavern, every bar, every gig for 60 years? um... right. David Smith - Yep. I agree, I often wish they would “do it like the record” too.
