The movie, which is canon, shows Spike way more injured than he was in session 26, hell Spike was actually capable of walking from the top floor back down to the first, and then fell unconscious. Also considering that the creator never confirmed or denied his death. But I believe there is an answer, and that we cannot look at this like Schrodinger's Cat. This ended in one way, not two ways simultaneously. Either Spike died here for good, or the Old Spike died, and a new one acknowledged his existence after all this time.
its up to each one of us to decide, thats why the creater never said whether spikr is dead or not, in my ending, Spike is dead, that was his purpose, reunite with Julia and kill Vicious, he achieved his goals and now he's ready for the eternal dream, or maybe all this was just a dream, just like Julia said
