This is the full daylight spectrum that this tank 'peaks' at during most of the middle of the day. For our thoughts on colors, do have a listen to our latest session of Reef Therapy ALL about coral coloration: ua-cam.com/video/TNNOxN2yEcc/v-deo.html
Your knowledge and education are impeccable Jake. The Saltwater Hobby is obviously not for the average person. The upper levels of humans are only allowed to enjoy a slice of the ocean at home.
I have the same 100 ext and it's been great for just over a year. Corals are looking great in your tank. I'm running 2 MP40s as well, but up top. Interesting setup. Thanks for the update, Jake!
That classic pavona is bulletproof. It survived so much in my tanks when I first started out. You can top off your tank with Heineken every day if you wanted to.
I don’t know how more people don’t know about Lazy’s creation. Such an awesome coral and such a cool story. Mine looks amazing (not as nice as yours) very happy with it. Great tour Jake. Just what the Dr. Ordered for my this morning
Yeah the story behind the blue zing BN is the stuff legends are made of, I've recently been contacted by another reefer who thinks they experienced a similar occurrence with Seriatopora, would be neat to see it happen again in my tank between the Zing and the green tip!
I salute you Jake you a real life inspiration in the reefing hobby really love what you do reef builders is my favorite channel on UA-cam love when I see you post a new video thank my reefing brother lol
So dope that reefbuilders has teamed up with top shelf aquatics! I love that company especially since I’ve temporarily moved back into the Midwest because as you can probably imagine the shops are few and far between! ( I don’t like to bash small businesses within this industry / hobby but the one shop that I do have near me have one of my systems black bugs and they DESTROYED a few thousand bucks worth of gold torches and some other torches alike ) . So I’ve been very big on ordering online from clean distributors around the country and I have to say EVERY SINGLE ORDER HAS BEEN 100% pest and algae free! Always good looking frags. Only once I had a chalice sent to me that got a little banged up and it was replaced right away. Just got 2 blue torch corals which is odd , at least to me anyways lol I’ve never seen blue torches before. They aren’t like Oregon tort blue but in between deep blue and purple and they are the stubby Malaysian style torches if I were to guess. Beautiful nonetheless! To jake and the reef builders team, great looking system! Absolutely stunning and the corals colors are super vibrant so great work with the upkeep fellas! It’s always a great day when @reefbuilders drops some new ⛽️ 🔥 💣 🤯 Looking forward to the next video drop! Great work guys and thanks for helping me stay up to date and included within the hobby/ industry because where I’m at is the equivalent to Africa's Sahara desert in terms of reef keeping lol 😂 . Much love and happy reefing everyone 🤙🍻
Your kitchen sink is way more interesting than mine Jake. Mine just has a bunch of dirty dishes in it. 😞 Seriously tho the tank looks friggin amazing!!!
I love very diverse tanks. That’s how I’m building my current nano reef. I’m trying to hit as many families of coral as I can in a 20 gallon. So far I have nephthea, mushrooms, anthelia, and zoas for soft. Chalice, acans, torches, and hammers for LPS. Within the next couple months I plan to start adding some SPS montis, cyphastrea, and birdsnest
Such a beautiful system. Love all your tanks and videos. I do wish sometimes you would say the common names of the corals not just the scientific names. Would make it easier for some of us to look them up and purchase a coral you have shown in a video.
Common names vary by country, by region, and even over time. I can’t tell you how many corals used to be called one thing and now are called something completely different after just a few years.
I genuinely try very hard to fully appreciate the results of LED lighting as I appreciate halides and/or T5s. My personal preference for metal halides and/or T5s always is reinforced when I look at the details of most systems under LEDs though. One thing is to watch a tank from above, another is to look at the details in colony formation and find dead shading spots. The A. horida has some weird growth under the LEDs. It shows the thin skin over the skeleton, as you have pointed in one of the Reef Therapy sessions, as not so healthy IMO. The P. eydouxi is the worse coral showing the affected colonial structure, but that coral is noticeable for being one of the hardiest to replicate what we see in the wild anyways!! The "Bonsai" is also a good example of the real distorted colony formation due to LEDs. Can you show the pictures of the A. horida in the wild before collected? It would be awesome to see those pics!!! It is true that most corals will look different from what they look in the wild, after we place them in the tanks, independent of what type of the artificial light we use because of so many other variables too. LEDs do a great job on reflection and showing the diodes' unique blues and violets reflected on the corals. Still halides and T5s will be superior offering a much better complete spectrum and distribution/ delivery of photons allowing better health overall IMO. Thanks for being transparent showing those dead spots. Looks ok from the top though. Not my preferred spectrum, but should be great for those who are into the blues' fashion. The fishes' colors look kinda artificial to my eyes, but still beautiful! Some very nice species there!! I love the Pavona, the Caulastrea and the Turbinaria!!!! Oh, that Herpolitha!!!! AAAARRGH! Very nice video!! Like # 601. Thanks for sharing, Jake! Nevertheless a great video to watch! All the best! Aloha!
I love your bi-colour caulastrea, wish i could get my hands on this strain in EU. Whitecorals had similar colour once but it was not the time of the year i do my order from there :(
I did but that was before we installed the double-bar light hanging platform, and it wasn't great having the strips hanging off the fixtures themselves
This is literally the tank I am looking to get once i finish sorting out and taking down my current tank. The sort of mixed reef that i want to do so this is awesome to see! Are the two mp40’s in the back bottom enough flow for sps? Well obviously they are as the tank is doing awesome but would acros do well or would i want another powerhead higher up?
I don't think that pocillopora bailed out: I think it spawned. I had the same issue in my first tank, and its spawns stung (and killed) one of my acro frags. I did few google searches and found out that pocillopora are known to spawn in reef tanks.
@@ReefBuildersVideo I see. I always thought polyp bait out was when corals are going downhill, it's their last ditch effort to survive. Didn't realize they bail out to 'spawn' when they're doing well too.
I'm thinking of getting a (small) convict tang to add with my yellow when i upgrade from 60 gallon cube to a bit bigger tank (custom 3 foot, roughly the dimmensions of a waterbox 100.3 - as big as I can go in the current appartment). Are they any "chiller" than other acanthurus tangs or should I go "safe" with a smaller bristletooth?
Thanks! The convict seems like such an underappreciated fish (as you mentioned in the pod), not as much info on it compared to powder blue or powder brown. Might go for the squaretail tang with it.
Hi, i would like to film a few reef tanks of a good friend of mine , next saturday. I always use my mirrorless camera sony as7 body II but i don't know yet what lens i would use for making that happen. The shots i will make are meant for making visuals of it afterwoods... maybe you can help me out a little more? thank you so much!
Hi I hope you understand what I going to mean my inglés is not my language… I try to do my best, I love sps acros , and I see all your videos I haven’t loose one of your videos because I want to learn your techniques but I can’t to go forward on my tank I had really good pieces Walt Disney,js fox flames, tsa tenuis but always fail , i try to do same thing as tsa I had a shipment of across from tsa and I test they water … results with Hanna shecker tsa water -nitrates 14.6 Phosphate 00.1 Alkalinity. 8.4 Calcium 449 Magnes. 1500 I try to much this numbers on my aquarium but I have the same results( fail) everything died (across) lps I have no problem… sand no sand , skimmer, not skimmer best light metal ,t5, led kessil ap700 ,a360 ,2 radion xr15 g5 because I have 40 gallon breeder Hi please teach me some tips of what you do .
wait a minute to your telling me a 100 gallon aquarium is only really a 75? so they charge almost 3000 dollars for these tanks and now your saying its 75 gallons? I have then been dosing my tanks completely wrong? i have a 75 gallon so its what really 50?
How are you getting those colours!!! Is that the brightest you have those lights throughout the day. Or does it get brighter white light?
This is the full daylight spectrum that this tank 'peaks' at during most of the middle of the day. For our thoughts on colors, do have a listen to our latest session of Reef Therapy ALL about coral coloration: ua-cam.com/video/TNNOxN2yEcc/v-deo.html
@@ReefBuildersVideo thanks Jake. 👍
I rewatch this old vidoes of jake all the time. Man i miss him in the hobby.
Really nice full “basic” reef aquarium- so nice just seeing corals in their glory growing along.
Man the hobby misses Jake. RIP my friend. ❤
Your knowledge and education are impeccable Jake. The Saltwater Hobby is obviously not for the average person. The upper levels of humans are only allowed to enjoy a slice of the ocean at home.
Man that Birds of Paradise Cultivar "Blue zing" is stunning.
I also love your place holder Milka, very beautiful.
As usual, your tanks are gorgeous.
Gorgeous!!!! Like everything in the gallery!!!!
I have the same 100 ext and it's been great for just over a year. Corals are looking great in your tank. I'm running 2 MP40s as well, but up top. Interesting setup. Thanks for the update, Jake!
Ur "kitchen sink" looks better than my house. Tank looking amazing
Beautiful brother! Some old school corals with some easily grown sps. Love it!
Probably you're most well-rounded and best looking tank
I would kill to be able to spend a day in the studio just admiring everything.
That classic pavona is bulletproof. It survived so much in my tanks when I first started out. You can top off your tank with Heineken every day if you wanted to.
I’ll take your kitchen sink anytime!! Just gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing
I always enjoy your coral/fish/tank endeavors, Jake. Thanks, buddy!!
Man, your tanks are always so beautiful.
I love your aquariums!!!
Do and other videos descriptions with the other tanks.😍😍😍
This is a great example of a mixed reef that is not super demanding and has the ability to coast! 🍻

I love this tank it looks great and many of the corals are more forgiving of a basic set up and less skilled reefer.
Amazing tank.
Wow!! You make reefing look easy :) Everything looks perfect!! 🌟

This guy can not only grow corals but man those colors are unreal. very nice..................Helps to be a biologist....lol
That mint pavona is such a classic beauty. Also you you have an update on the self grafted acro you did? Derek's Indecision I believe was the name.
Очень красиво, не когда не думал что можно создать такую красоту с мягкими кораллами 👍
@Reef Builders - A question regarding the wc Molly - in what kind of habitat was it caught in?
RIP brotha 😢
Favortie coral influencer, so sad hes no longer here
When can we get an update on the mangrove tank behind you? Seems like it’s really grown a lot since your last video. 😁
Enjoyed this video with a glass of wine after doing my weekly tank maintenance, would be great to know if a coral prefers higher/lower light 😊
Cheers to that brother 🥂

Hi Jake, could you tell me what are the settings for your hydra 64’s? Many thanks Matt
I love your bi-colour caulastrea, wish i could get my hands on this strain in EU. Whitecorals had similar colour once but it was not the time of the year i do my order from there :(
The corals look great! What parameters are you keeping your Calcium and Alkalinity?
Natural seawater values
Didn’t you have a Illumagic Vitamini over those Hydras at one point to help with shading? I have one with my hydras and it is a great compliment.
I did but that was before we installed the double-bar light hanging platform, and it wasn't great having the strips hanging off the fixtures themselves
Fuck dude, I miss you already! I literally bought a nuvo ext 100 because of you! RIP

What people call spawning in Pocillopora is actually unique, asexual form of reproduction called ‘polyp bail-out’
@@ReefBuildersVideo I see. I always thought polyp bait out was when corals are going downhill, it's their last ditch effort to survive. Didn't realize they bail out to 'spawn' when they're doing well too.
Do you know if this tank back glass vinyl Can it be removed the black vinyl
what camera you using?
Where can I find a frag of that Culastrea?
Dose the lower glass of the aquarium build up algae since there is no sand? Also is it safe if any of the live rocks were to move or fall over
RIP

I would add both a convict and a tomini along with your yellow when you move to the larger tank, they make a great team
Thanks! The convict seems like such an underappreciated fish (as you mentioned in the pod), not as much info on it compared to powder blue or powder brown. Might go for the squaretail tang with it.
Hey What vill you do about Majano Is there a fish or Invertebrates that eat Majano ?
spectacular aquarium
Please, would you be so kind as to pass me the configuration you have in the hydra 64
Thank you very much
You're a phenomenon
Would it be possible to run this tank with 2 g6 xr15s
1:55 I thought that was a duncanopsammia peltata, not a turbinaria.
you're right
What are the dimensions of this aquarium
