Because there are hundreds of thousands of words in the English language, and it's impossible to know all of them. Also, I know a lot of words that just don't come to mind when I'm in conversation with someone, so these videos are a good way to keep them fresh.
It had been 20 years since I went to school to learn English when I came. As my brain is getting older forget a lot of yours classes. Thank you. Keep going.

Joe Pistone and danny Brasco. The book is so much better than the movie. The movie doesn't do it justice. Perfect fit.
timing = 38:58. cliche examples I had an idea of cliche might emanate/exude negative flavor because of its synonyms (platitude, stereotype, commonplace, banality ). but these examples would be not only positive/educative but also feasible to use innovatively(digging up novelty from old-fashioned).

Maybe I am lacking weird expressions in english. But so far, in this video and others, I noticed that most of them make sense and could be guessed without explanation. In french our expressions defy the laws of logic. For instance: stand someone up in french is "poser un lapin à quelqu'un", yes : to give/put a rabbit to someone. Is there anything similar to that in english ? 😂
@@thelma-7777 but still yours also make some sense. In french we have the "faire une nuit blanche" = make a white night which means that someone hasn't slept of the entire evening and night. This kind of expressions are not inferrable, you have to know it 😂😂

Perhaps because even if they aré native speakers there may be a few words they do not know, or grammatical rules they aré not aware of.

Maybe I am lacking weird expressions in english. But so far, in this video and others, I noticed that most of them make sense and could be guessed without explanation. In french our expressions defy the laws of logic. For instance: stand someone up in french is "poser un lapin à quelqu'un", yes : to give/put a rabbit to someone. Is there anything similar to that in english ? 😂
Native Portuguese speakers can infer some expressions. E.g.: trial and error = tentativa e erro. Beyond a shadow of a doubt = sem sombra de dúvida.
@@thelma-7777 but still yours also make some sense. In french we have the "faire une nuit blanche" = make a white night which means that someone hasn't slept of the entire evening and night. This kind of expressions are not inferrable, you have to know it 😂😂
