How to Clean a Lobster and Our Fave Boat Bread Recipe - Ep 20

- Опубліковано 13 вер 2024
- During our stay at Rudder Cut Cay, which is David Copperfield’s private island and home to the underwater mermaid and piano sculpture, we had a bunch of fun learning to use our spear pole and catching lobster. A fellow Canadian sailor taught us how to efficiently and easily clean our lobster catches. We also show you our favourite boat bread recipe. There's a ton of sugar in this recipe, probably why it tastes so good, but we lessen the sugar a bit and we literally make this every two days or so!
RICH EGG BREAD RECIPE
- Makes one loaf (8"x4" or 9"X5" loaf pan)
INGREDIENTS
- 3 to 3.5 cups all purpose or bread flour
- 1 pkg instant rapid rise yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup warm water (120 to 130 degrees F)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
DIRECTIONS
1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together 1.5 cups of the flour, the yeast, sugar and salt. Add warm water and oil. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute (or just hand mix until well blended and smooth)
2. Add the egg and beat until smooth (or hand mix once again until smooth)
3. Stir enough of the remaining flour until the dough is easy to handle
4. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth and springy
5. Grease a large bowl with oil/cooking spray and then place the dough in the bowl, turning the dough to grease all sides (at this point, dough can be refrigerated up to 24 hours) Cover bowl loosely and let rise in a warm place (about one hour or until dough has doubled). Dough is ready when indentation remains when touched
6. Grease bottom and sides of your loaf pan with oil/cooking spray.
7. Gently push fist into dough to deflate. Flatten dough with hands/rolling pin into an 18"X9" rectangle. Roll up tightly beginning at the 9" side. Pinch edges of dough to seal and pinch each end of the roll to seal. Fold ends under the loaf. Place loaf seam side down, in pan. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise again in a warm place for an hour or until dough has doubled in size.
7. Move oven rack to low position so that the top of pan will be in the centre of the oven. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
8. Bake for 30-35min or until the loaf is deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Remove from pan to wire rack

I see others have said similar to this that its a pretty good channel already but, he needs to show his girl a little more respect. Represent Canada and us Canadian Men. My family and I are from Nova Scotia, Canada.
Great video, thank you.
If I wanted a cooking show I would have gone to a cooking show.
How handy is Steph in the kitchen?!!! Just whips up any ol' thang no probs lol! Have never seen a pizza cut with a pair of scissors but hey what ever floats your boat - must say it is simple but effective. The hammock is right up there with a dishwasher in a house - can't live without it once you have had one.
Ah ha I thought I was the only person to cut pizza with a pair of scissors! Awesome!
😂 why not?!
@@SailingJibsea Exactly!! Hey where are you guys right now? Are you going to cruise the Med next?
Travis how has the dinghy outboard motor worked for you guys?
You need your own cooking show!
Nice video
That was the best one yet, Steph is the cutest baker I've ever seen.
..... seeing everything that you make, bake, prepare .. get the impression you are passionate about your culinary abilities ... well done ... that must be so nice to be able to flop into the water like that .... thx for the share .... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans .......
That's how it's done Trav! Making good use of your boat to relax and have a cold one and enjoyed your Baking lesson Steph! As a single Bachelor live aboard I need the help! Keep em coming!
Thanks! Betty Crocker and google help a lot😆
Antlers on a a lobster. Who knew? Thanks for sharing, as always.
Stephanie is awesome. A great boating partner.
Do something Travis. She's not your galley slave. And leave the wildlife alone.
Thanks, but rest assured Travis does a LOT of work on the boat to keep her running well for the both of us :)
Nice baking. The baker looks good too!
That bread looks delish Stef. Award winning! 9 more minutes was perfection.
Thanks! It came out great!
Very cool lobster cleaning trick. Thanks for sharing.
We thought it was cool when someone showed us! Had to re-share :)
Exceptional follow through on the cooking aspect.
Get yourselves a kiting set up now, so you can go shred instead of being bored
The things you make and bake on a boat are absolutely amazing to me!!!!
Steph, I now want some home made bread..
That looks sooo good.
Good job. Sailing and s cooking show combined. Fair winds.
Thank you!
I love the underwater videos! Finally, you have caught some fish and cooking a lobster. I'm so happy that you are fishing, when we were on Exuma island we were fishing from the shore everyday. Amazing trip! Please record more fishing videos. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Beautiful anchorage.....and food!
Antlers ! hahahaha that was funny !
🤣
Let him cook his own bread next time, he obviously thinks he's a top baker. Love the vlogs :-)
Pretty good cooking going on around here
Well Travis, I think you got a dressing down, I like your stuff on the tools, but you got to work on the touch feely stuff. Your gal is great, you are great, keep the videos coming, I actually like the cooking stuff Steph does kind of a Galloping Gormet on the sea.
Another great video guys as you know I'm a big fan! Keep up the great work, I watch every episode and smash that like because Pizza looked amazing, love the hammock. "that didn't come from no jar! : OMG love it! :) Seriously guys I love your episodes, your channel is my go too. :)
Thank you so much for following us closely! We are obsessed with pizza and that’s one thing we were worried about missing!
Blue Moon beer! Soooo good with pizza.
Excellent no mess baking technque. Nice demonstration and bread looks delicious.
Obviously fresh bread is irresistable. Put a lock on the oven next time. No peek-a-boo
Don't be afraid of eating small Barracuda. They have firm mild easy to fillet flesh. Apparently ciguatera is not a problem until they get bigger (over 30 inches) as they grow so fast. Unfortunately we seem to catch only huge ones.
loving your content! keep it up guys 😊❤
FYI....We discovered while visiting Aruba, where one of the beach restaurants was serving it...grilled Barracuda steaks are FANTASTIC !! (not fillets, just cut cross-section "steaks") It reminded me of Swordfish.
Why do you flatten out the dough into a sheet and then roll back up into a loaf...what does the flattening out do ? (I'm obviously not a baker🙂)
Nice work-out discipline!Everybody here was thinking "Oh, NO WONDER !" 😉
But those other sailors moored next door, watching you two working up a sweat on the beach with that workout and wall-climbing are thinking "WTF !?....those wild kids don't "get" sailing and boat-life!" 😎
We’re pretty sure some of the fried fish we ate at one restaurant had served us Barracuda. We didn’t know it at the time but it was great
PLEASE make some UA-cam videos of her cleaning the lobsters while they are still alive. 🙏
We don’t clean them while alive. They’re killed right away so they’re not suffering
@@SailingJibsea they’re going to suffer when you inflict pain on them so they can die right away. So either way, they’re still going to suffer.
Great Canadian Video, - Steph you are amazing. However Travis cannot be a Canadian. Never seen Canadian man treat a women that way
Thank you! But rest assured it’s just playful banter and neither of us takes anything personal and it always ends off in a chuckle!
@@SailingJibsea he was a bit naughty this time though lol
Good job on the bread. If you want it a little less crust on the outside then drop the temp 25 degrees F and increase cooking time by 20 minutes. You may have to experiment with your oven. I like to split the water half cold half really warm. dissolve the sugar and salt in the warm water then add the cool water to the warm to bring the temp down before introducing the yeast. If the water is too warm it can and will kill all or most of the yeast. Third tip, keep Travis away from the oven while cooking the bread.
Thanks for the tips! Boat ovens are sometimes a challenge with adjusting temperatures I’ve found, I’m just glad when it turns out 😆.
👍🏼🇦🇺🇨🇦
Looks like Ginger, cooks like Mary Ann!
Dude, she makes pizza, cleans lobster, makes bread, and she's hot! Wake up dude they don't get better than that!
Holy Carbs, guys..! Then again, you two are in great shape, So eat Awayyyyy..! lol
When there’s not much to buy in the Bahamas and you’re starting to run low 🤣🤣
Fabulous bread, we must try. @sailingpopeye 👍🍻🇦🇺
Ok I liked and and made a comment on every video in an effort to make you guys the Canada La vaga.... but this last video is February?
Haha thanks for that!😆
Only in Canada there would be antlers on a lobster 🦞 🍁 🌴 ⛄️
Any chance you can send a picture of your front windows on your bimini? Going to remake ours and love the look of yours. Is it makrolon clear material?? Great video guys, spent a few hours taking 3’ of snow off our winter cover :(
Hey Sandra! Yes we’ll send you on FB
Copperfield: each villa sleeps 24, though.
What temputure do you cook the bread at? I want to try it. It will be my first bread ever.😊 Does it split naturally on top, or are you suppose to slice the top? Hope to hear from you. Thanks for sharing your recipe.😊💕
Bake at 375F. I scored the bread with a knife on top! Hope you like it and let me know how it goes!
Time to stop cooking until it’s appreciated else in 20 years this will be hell
Funny! Being from North Dakota in College I had a good friend that was Canadian. He always used a scissors to cut his pizza and literally refused to use a pizza cutter. This can’t be a Canadian thing right? Stay safe guys!
🤣🤣 not sure if it’s a Canadian thing or just a “one less thing to store” sort of thing haha
The pizza looked great, Steph, but what are "knots"? 🙂
They must be an American thing! We had seen them in every pizza place in NYC. Pretty much like bread sticks but with garlic butter and cheese!
OOPS I need to scroll up :]
You kin rent Copperfield's place on Musha Cay. Only $273K a week. such a deal...
Wow, that’s it?! Lol
Your underwater stuff is amazing. After watching Steph's bikini kitchen, I need to make some breakfast.
🛏
Booba
Menn. I cant survive not eating rice lmao. I wont get full if i cant eat a single cup rice or spoon
Antlers, eh?
🤣🤣 we both somehow always refer to the antennae as antlers by accident!
You two always crack me up. Your banter is like an old married couple who have been together for 60+ years.
😂 glad we can all get a chuckle out of it! ☺️
Sorry but I wasn't looking at the bread loaf.
I love people who eat normal food. Cant stand health food nuts.
It’s all about balance! :)
Moderation is the key :)
