He would be amazed people are still interested....and amazed that people do what Billy does, and what we are interested in....standing EXACTLY where he did. That kind of thing would amaze him, it would embarrass him a little too. People making such a "fuss" over him. Elvis saw himself as just a man. We fans see him as less than a God, but more than a man.
fantastic video spa guy following in the kings footseps the places he walked and also stood iwish i could be there with you in rhe place the king was in it would make me feel if he was there watching us.👍❤❤❤
Came up trumps again spaguy . You and tray are by far the best in the business it’s not just the video it’s the information it’s so good . Thanks 👑👑👑🇬🇧👍
Thank you spa guy! Love it! How lovely was Elvis for helping that lady who fainted! Wow, what stars would do that today? He's the best! Fab as always spa guy. 😎👍
Billy.... LOL... at 13:00 did you say "So Alvis Pretzel stayed........ right here..." Were you seeing if we are paying attention? LOL, I am ! Great video as always, I can't believe that gate is still there! Amazing!

Great piece of Elvis puzzle this morning Glad you've searched out and taught this Elvis history lessons today while explaining the hotels history which is also facinating. I truly enjoy these class field trips like back in grade school days. Look forward to next piece of Elvis puzzle that you tighten up for us. Adios...

Obrigada.
I understand things have to change through the years, but so happy they did keep some thing the same, like the floors and gates. That's a big hotel, of course I'm just a small down gal, so big to me. Glad it is a historic place and registered. Very cool photo's, great job you guys!
So cool. Love watching these type of videos. It’s been said that William Frawley ( Fred Mertz ) was taken or dragged into the lobby of the Roosevelt after suffering a heart attack after seeing a film and walking down Hollywood Boulevard, he passed in the lobby March 3, 1966. The one in California naturally. Must’ve been quite a few of them.
Elvis stayed at some beautiful building. Thanks goodness the floor 's don't change much. Do you think Billy the Handel's on the gates are the same one's. Elvis touched them Ooooo
I'm amazed the original flooring is till there after such a huge renovation. It worked out great to match the photos and proves the old stuff lasts a long time unlike current day materials. She's on the couch, passed out, and he's trying to help her. Now that's too funny. I don't think anyone could make a girl literally pass out these days. Elvis was the man, for sure.
Spot on! If you look at the original photo of Elvis coming through the gate, you can see a ovalish imperfection almost like exposed aggregate to the right of the square, Elvis’ left. The two little dirt lines are kind of visible in both the photo and your film.
There’s not a lot of info out there about Bill Black I know he passed away in 64 or 65 maybe?? Just curious of why he’s not mentioned a lot in Elvis stories
I wanted to see the photos and found this statement from the caption of the picture , photo simply says "Elvis and the contest winner, Andrea June Stephens, walked into the hotel lobby, August 10, 1956, Jacksonville
You need to visit the Doubletree by Hilton on the Southbank just over the Main Street bridge. Great lineups from Elvis on Tour getting in limo and driving up the ramp and over bridge. He stayed in room 1010 numerous times.
@@SpaGuy I would love to host you in Jax, love your channel. I’ve retired after 34 years in AF and have nothing but time now that I’m retired. Love Elvis and my hometown of Jacksonville.

Boy, the inside of the building looks a lot like the inside of this Salvation Army building on 14th Street in NYC- I was there attending a memorial service last year. Spy Guy, the photos were taken in 1956 or 1958? I was born in August of '58, a couple of weeks after Gladys Presley passed.
That one if not both look reversed to me but who knows. It looks weird how the gate is. . . I cannot see the pic well enough to see how his jacket is buttoned like someone else suggested. Did you get an answer to that? What a gorgeous old building. I love that black railing
Love the info. Didn't the judge tell Elvis he better set down because Elvis was being Elvis? Jacksonville has a lot of crime . You could not pay me to live there. Did you make your way to St Augustine it is Beautiful here..
I have filmed Jacksonville and the Follow That Dream stuff in Florida but will get the rest of it as time allows.. ua-cam.com/video/u32SghqRHqA/v-deo.html&pbjreload=101
This hotel looks like “it aged gracefully “. I always love the way you let us follow in Elvis’s footsteps!! Fascinating! I don’t feel I’ve missed a thing! By the way Billy, I have the entire set of “the Elvis masks”!
Question in case I missed it: WHY was Elvis there? 1956? Was he playing in Jacksonville with a band or was it a solo appearance? Roosevelt Hotels have always been quality hotels. Wow. Talk about quality construction too
Hey Spa Guy, did I miss you saying who the girl is that was holding Elvis's hand? My guess is her name is June that won a date with him. That's when he was dating June Juanico who was with him at the Roosevelt hotel in New Orleans the day after like you said.
You should have shown the Florida Theater where Elvis performed. I was 12 years old when Elvis came to town and lived not far from the downtown area of Jacksonville. I wanted to go to see Elvis perform at the Florida Theater but my dad wouldn't let me. I had a friend who went and he said it was a bad experience. He waited in a really long line to get in, and then Elvis was very late showing up. When he finally showed up, he sang 2 songs and left. The girls were screaming so loudly that he couldn't hear Elvis sing. Everyone was bummed out.
@ Spa Guy...side note just FYI... like flip flops & I was paying attention, but are you aware how many muscles & tendons it takes to wear those!?! I personally started with 1999 & thyroid issues & then 2009 multiple autoimmune issues, but what I first noticed in ‘09 is when I was walking much in my flip flops to run errands & just walk thru my day that I began to have HORRIBLE pains in toes, feet, calf muscles & tendons ALL felt like I had just had a MARATHON SESSION WITH WEIGHTS❣️Well in 2010 they said my autoimmunes stacked & I tested positive for MORE😢RA & Systemic Lupus which has affected my WHOLE LIFE... when I began UA-cam once I flared & found myself bed ridden & on your site in the Beginning❣️🙏 After 3yrs I’m better & I’ve learned a lot & KNOW🌟 U SIR ARE A CLASS ACT😎🤩

62 years ago! These line ups are the best! Its like you have an Elvis time machine going back in time! Awesome Billy!!! 💪💪💪

The direction of how Elvis' jacket is buttoned will indicate whether or not the photo has been reversed.
