It's not the world and definitely isn't Japan. They need to start complaining about their actual issues like increasing suicide and declining birth rates or something instead of exaggerating small issues like this for attention.
@@cookiestrong8757 I agree with you. The fact that men cannot control themselves is a huge problem. It’s no coincidence that special women-only compartments were added to trains in Japan. However, it is desirable that this current situation changes in the near future, and that men learn to mind their own business instead of harassing women in public. After all, everyone has the right to dress as they wish and express themselves through fashion, and this should never be hindered by others-especially by the men mentioned in the video who lack self-control ,common sense and obviously a brain. Videos showing women how to avoid harassment by covering themselves ideally should not need to exist in the first place. But apparently they’re needed and that’s sad.

A comment said being loud will help.learned, not always. I travel by bus. A girl around my age 17-20 was sitting behind me. It was crowded. A guy was standing near her seat the whole time. After a while he touched/grabbed her breast, as soon as she yelled "why did you just touch me" he kept his hand on the bag and said "my hand was always here i never did" the girl insisted "you just put it there" he kept saying he didn't. Gosh, no one uttered a word. Nor the ladies neither the guys, not the conductor, driver anyone. She was not heard and they let it slide. The man had the audacity to pickup someones call and say "people are so thirsty for attention, ruined my day over a small matter"
It's crazy how us women have to cover up and take all of these procotunary measures just because some people don't know how to keep their hands to themselves.
People victim blame to feel safer by not conforming to the "victim checklist" but it only makes you internalise self objectification because it was never the clothes, it was the perpetrators. We don't understand the reason for their actions so we make one ourselves because at least then it makes sense
Actually, I honestly think that dressing in a particular way just to avoid creeps are a thing that doesn't work at all, cuz it's a big lie that dressing in a certain way will prevent you from being harassed in any way. Those things like: "oh, but u were wearing this. You were literally asking for it" it's just one excuse for the victim feel ashamed or responsible for what someone else did, but fr they would do it anyway and would dig for another excuse to say something similar

Well yes and No. Chikan as it is called in Japan is a major thing. Women get harrassed or sa'd in buses and trains and due to some reasons they don't raise their voices or call them out. I have rarely heard news of women being groped in buses or trains. Even when they are people will beat the shit out of the guy. My point is we don't have anything compared to Chikan, went to college 3 years in an overcrowded bus never encountered such things.
@@Virgil-the-ratIn an idealistic society, yes youre right. But realistically although its unfair that a woman has to dress like this because of other men, it does significantly decrease the possibility of being SA'ed. The question isnt about responsibility, its about whether you want to be safe or not.
I mean I think it's high time that we, as women need to understand that even though men should keep their hands to themselves and SHOULD NOT touch a woman, we should also ensure our safety. Yes, it's not the fault of the clothes we wear and predators would do it anyways but we should also keep ourselves safe from those predators who judge on the basis of clothes.

Nah, even if you not revealing clothes, some people will do it. At least, from my experiences in Japan, and from what I've heard and observed while living there. It happens everywhere around the world, but I've never had that happen to me in Canada (creeps touching/grabbing/head locking me I mean... yep, true stories while I was living in Japan and went to Kyoto and Osaka).
@Marie-MichelleFortier I'm sorry, what I meant is SOME creeps will only touch you if you're wearing revealing clothing. Some will touch you no matter what you're wearing. Also, I'm very sorry that you had to go through that.
@@rillieskyla298 Thanks for the kind words. I remember as a student, our teacher made us visit a Japanese prison in 2014 or 2015. Some higher up there told us that people from the Kansai area didn't have to inform companies about having been to prison or something like that when applying for a job (unlike in Canada or the US I guess). The reason? He told us it's because the Kansai area had the highest rate of sexual misdemeanor/crimes in Japan. 🤦🏻♀️
I don't know about these days, but that would explain the amount of creeps I encountered back then and when I went back to work (2017-2023). 😅

That's universal precautions if a woman has to travel by public transport. Except when it's women only buses or trains.
💖💖
Not universal.
@@Buuublwhat, are you gonna say it doesn’t happen in america or first world countries? sure, some women do it less, doesn’t mean women are attacked or harassed on public transport any less. i live in australia. a first world country where the police are pretty okay. do i feel safe on public transport, which i take about 5 times a week? no. especially not when the tram or bus is pretty empty but a man still sits next to me. just because you’re not educated about these things doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. do your research properly. femicide happens. women are harassed so bad on public transport in japan they have women only carriages and the phones don’t have a silent mode so you’ll know if someone takes a picture up your skirt. also, the cultures are different. in japan, showing any skin or dyeing your hair or heavy makeup is frowned upon heavily. east asian countries just love to restrict women’s bodies. so it’s more common in asian countries to do this on public transport.
No if you’re in in north western Europe in an area that’s heavily native rather than multicultural, this doesn’t happen

The clothes she wore at the beginning were sexy even for me, an heterosexual woman. So I can understand they are revealing much more for men, even if they are not a pervert.

Actually, I honestly think that dressing in a particular way just to avoid creeps are a thing that doesn't work at all, cuz it's a big lie that dressing in a certain way will prevent you from being harassed in any way. Those things like: "oh, but u were wearing this.
