So far I only have one of the 5 up. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe My son ran out of time, with motion detector etc. I have it over my garage door. It works great. Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.
This is a really good review. Thank you for being so detailed. I just purchased this but I thought it could be hard wired into the house. I didn't realize it just plugs into an outlet. Is no one concerned that an intruder can just unplug it? 🤷
It's true that someone can just unplug it, so I recommend putting the camera somewhere hidden and having the plug be behind a bookshelf or otherwise not visible. To learn more, read our full review of the Ring Stickup Cam Wired: bit.ly/2XFeOae
So many users have cloud storage, so as the bad guy is walking up to the camera to unplug it, smash it or steal it, he has already been recorded. I think most criminals know this. By the time they see the camera, they've already been nailed. But again, that's only if you pay the small monthly/yearly fee for cloud storage. I would never use a security cam as just a live-view device. You've gotta have the footage stored someplace so it can be reviewed by you and law enforcement in case a crime has occurred. If you want to use a camera to watch your baby sleeping, that's a different story.
Hi Jason, Unfortunately, I'm a renter in both my apartment and office space, so I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. Sorry about that and thanks for watching! - Gabe
This is a great thorough Video! I am so happy you speak slowly & explain things well. Does the Ring 2 have the same updates as the Stick Up?? Keep doing your thing brother!!!
Do you mean the Ring Video Doorbell 2? Comparing the cameras, they are both 1080p HD with no zoom. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 has a slightly wider field of view at 160 degrees. They both have infrared night vision, Alexa integrations, and the same cloud storage options. For more info, see my review of the Ring Video Doorbell 2- bit.ly/2WVhv6m
Not mentioned: Yes, the Stick Up Cam has "People Detection". It also allows PoE (power over Ethernet) connections, sparing you a dedicated nearby plug. The full-featured Ring App is available for Windows 10. Video footage can be viewed/shared Community-wide in the app and via push/email notifications. Refurbished units are available at super-affordable prices, and work great!
Great video. Thank you. I was wondering about connection through the ethernet cable rather than utilizing Wi-Fi. Would you discuss the merits of this and what equipment would be necessary please?
The main merit is that you wouldn't be dependent on Wi-Fi, which can be spotty, and you wouldn't ever need to change a battery. Here's what you'll need: Power outlet (for Micro USB) or Ethernet port with Power over Ethernet (PoE Adapter sold separately). It makes sense if your Wi-Fi isn't great, but I recommend paying for cellular backup so the camera will stay on in the event of a power outage. See full review here: bit.ly/2XFeOae
Hello there, is there an option to add a solar panel just in case the power goes out from the plug? And also do you think it'll hold in Canada winter (-40°C)😅 my backdoor doorbell been good to me in the past 3yrs, and it's out in the open, unlike the front door where there is a porch. Thinking about getting this OR the stick up solar. Thanks. Great video btw.
Good evening Baron! So if I purchased a ring security system and then a stick on camera or 2 is the monitoring $3.00 per camera and $10.00 for the system? Or $10.00 for everything? Thank you
So the $10 would cover all Ring devices at one location but the $3 plan only applies to one camera or video doorbell. More info on the Stick Up Cam here: bit.ly/2XFeOae
Yep, here's the wireless version of this camera- bit.ly/2ozKqkM Haven't had an issue with buffering but that'll depend largely on your Internet connection and not so much on whether it's wired or wireless.
