Really interesting set of videos, thanks Nick. I’m getting my brand new E Class Estate on 1 Sept and busy learning all the tips and tricks in readiness. I’m guessing it will have MBUX, but super interesting anyway! Particularly handy to see the parking feature in action.
Hi Adrian, Ooo exciting! It depends if you’ve ordered the facelift model or not. The new E-Class is scheduled to have a facelift kind of around about now, but due to COVID-19 the new ones might be delayed. Hard to tell but your dealership will be able to advise you!
Hi Nick, I think I have one of the last of the older ones. It’s a 2020.5 MY and I’ve heard from the dealer they have it in stock now. I’m just holding tight for a month for the 70 plate. I suspect therefore it may not have all the features. I’ll ask the dealer and check it out! The other thing I find unusual is that the centre of the two 12 inch screens isn’t a touch screen. Seems they missed a bit of a trick there, as you have to use the unusual looking touchpad/wheel instead. That said really looking forward to it, will be a fantastic car regardless and I got a cracking deal on it too :)
Yeah Adrian back when the E-Class was designed in 2015-2016 touchscreens didn’t exist in Mercedes-Benz! Now they’re cropping up everywhere! It’s still an amazing system though, even better than the one previous to that!
The pre facelift E Class doesn't have MBUX but it has the newest version of Command which is still nice in my opinion. It uses the rotary controller which is nice to use.
You can actually do it on Honda Civic's post 2012. I had a 2.2 Diesel and you could upload jpegs as screensavers. Looks like it's the one obvious thing MB have forgotten!! @@npoleary
Really good and informative video . My question is once I’ve muted the sat nav voice by pressing the button while she is talking , how do I unmute her again ? Is it by pressing it on the screen ?
Nick, can you do a video on UK Radio settings? and perhaps cover other media? Good example would be driving from Poole to the M25 listening to Heart Radio and changing to each different Heart station as you progress along the journey
Hi Mike, All Mercedes-Benz will auto tune their DAB radios as you travel round the country etc. So you should be able to see the station you need right next to it. Hope that answers your question!
Hi Nick, This was a great video. I can’t wait to get back to the UK to explore it some more. I also have a question. I just wanted to find out about the screen that displays music on the left hand side. Sometimes when I’m playing Spotify the image of that track displays but other times it’s just a blue screen with the name of the song. How can I get the image of the tracks to consistently show?
Thanks Phil! I’ve seen that sometimes when using 3rd party apps like Spotify. As it runs solely off of your phone, previously when I have closed the app and relaunched it, it appears again.

Hi Nick- Question about the speed limiter control: Can you make that NOT come on? I find that I will be cruising along and occasionally, my GLE will pick up a side speed limit.(say on an off ramp from the highway....if that makes sense?).....so I can go from70 mph to say 35 mph very quickly. It sure gave me a start the first time that happened! Any way to make that not happen? Enjoy your videos, tips and tricks! Thank you.
Thanks Kim! Glad you like the videos! Yes you can turn this feature off. It's found in: HOME SETTINGS ASSISTANCE TRAFFIC SIGN ASSIST Adopt Sign is the thing you can turn on / off to stop this.
Thank you for such a great 'idiots guide' - really useful, I love this App. That said it is on on my iPhone and is constantly saying the driver's window is open - and it isn't. It also says last updated 18 hours ago - but I have driven the car today so can't understand why it hasn't updated. I can't find any hints that tell me how to do it manually from the phone, so guess I can't. The window thing is really annoying as I have to keep going outside to make sure the windows are closed so it is becoming a nuisance rather than an asset. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanx
Hey Shirley, no problem! 🤓 that’s strange with your window though...I would speak with your local dealership, it might need to be adjusted just ever so slightly. I know the app will classify your windows as being “open” even if it’s down like a centimetre. Hopefully they can sort it for you!

Hi Nick, I would like to see if you could make a recommendation to Mercedes if they could add a feature to their cars? One of my biggest gripes is that the rearview mirror isn't motorized to where one could set in their profile the position of the rearview mirror. The sideview mirrors can be set based on a profile, the seats can be set based on a profile, but the rearview mirror has always been and still is manually maneuvered. It would be nice to be able to have this mirror set up based on profile so that we don't have to manually reposition the mirror when ever changing drivers. Could you recommend to Mercedes to address this and to have them motorized the rearview mirror and be able to be setup based on profiles? Thanks.
Hey Bernie, thanks for the suggestion! Sadly no I don’t have any contacts overseas in Germany :( However interesting you should mention that though, Mercedes-Benz have made this before. This did exist I believe on 2002-2004 S-Class’s…however sadly because people still grabbed and moved it, the motors wore out quickly so in modern cars today, it’s the only item that you have to move out of the others like the steering wheel and seat.
@@npoleary Oh,. ok. I did not know that this existed before. However, just as how many products that come on the market before their time and end up fizzling out; many times the same product can come back to the market decades later and then they become a hit. My point I'm making is that due to how, now, tech in cars is exploding (i.e. ambient lighting and touchscreens, etc...) It might be a good idea for Mercedes to bring that feature back? And even to put it in ALL their models. Since Mercedes is venturing down this new path of EV's, touchscreen, more AI adoptions in cars, etc... Maybe, whomever you do have contact with over at Mercedes, could be given this idea and maybe someone who's new at the manufacturer may even decide to bring this feature back, with improved design and function to where manual operation of the mirror wouldn't burn the motor out? After all, technology has come a long way in the last 20 years. 👍

Hi Kevin, If you live in the UK like me unfortunately it’s disabled due to UK law. This is what I have been told and I haven’t heard of any plans for the future :( But I’ll be honest, it would be a very neat package if it did launch one day!
Please, if you can, I cannot seem to get the sunroof shade to open and close at all by a voice command. I’ve called Mercedes. I’ve tried everything. They possibly told me to do but the sunshade won’t open up. Tell me how to best open this with the voice control hey Mercedes.
Nick, I have one question, maybe you can help, In the navigation MBUX system, once you arrive at a destination that you have not stored, how do you save that location in Favourites? also, how do you edit the name of a favourites location, Thank you in advance for any helpyou can give :)

I've just took lease delivery of a 72 plate eqc premium plus , but it doesn't seem to have the upgrade audio or the augmented sat nav , I rang mercedes and they informed me that the augmented nav has been discontinued due to teck probs and they have stopped putting in the burmister audio ( apologies for spelling)
Hey A B, best to speak with your local Mercedes dealership on Active Park Assist as it varies massively round the world and hasn’t been available on virtually on new cars for the past year or so due to United Nations Regulations. If you chat with your local Mercedes, they’ll be able to check your car out and advise from there. Regarding the speed, is it the units like kph and mph that isn’t right? As you can change this in settings 🤓
Messaged you on the other video you left a comment on: It depends on the model of car. Newer ones I’ve seen do it automatically, but you can adjust in Home, Settings, System and then Time / Date.
When you turned off the "hey mercedes" you did not show how you did that or what you touched to do that. Same thing with the volume of the warning. You changed the volume but you did not show how you did that, ie: what you touched.
Nick is there any reason why the left dial would not change? i.e. you have to be in classic. my QEC will not go to the left dial in the instrument cluster. Thanks for the help
Hey Carl, unfortunately you can’t go to the left dial in all models! :( Don’t worry it’s not a fault, they’re all like that :) I know on yours though you can change the centre one and the right dial.
Hi Nick, i have a 2024 glc and in the manual it mentioned digital keys. But does Mercedes have any car that support digital key other than the 2024 E class?
There is a thing that’s called Digital Key Handover but it’s not for one person and does not replace the key as such. I want to actually make a video on it somewhen but from what I’ve heard basically it allows you to share the car with others. One of the keys gets stored in the car, and then the app deactivates it. Then you can share the car with others at a specific time / date and invite them through Mercedes me to use the car. The other person can unlock the car using an app and start it using their phone. Used for sharing with others not for one person so nothing like E-Class Digital key.

Hi Phillip, I only know the answer to this for the UK so don’t know what it’s like for other countries. But in the UK there is no slot, it’s updated automatically over the air when connected to your Mercedes me account. This is for cars with MBUX “Hey Mercedes”. If you don’t have that then the process will be different. What is your model and what year? I can let you know 🤓
Bought myself a GLE 43S and I don’t know anything I drive the thing but to much technology for me to be bothered working out. I got lights coming on random sounds and I sit there thinking what the fuck is this machine 😂😂😂😂
Hey Nick, great video! We just picked up a new RV built on the 2020 Sprinter Chassis with the MBUX system. We are here in the USA and the Speed Limit display only goes to 55 MPH even if the road signs indicate the speed limit is more than that. How do we get the system to recognize speed limit signs that are higher than 55 MPOH, such as 60, 65, and 70 MPH??
Hey Paul, Thank you! It depends if your car has Traffic Sign Assist as it may only have speed limit assist. The difference being that it may not have the camera at the top of the windscreen which would acquire that data and would only rely upon Sat Nav data. Apologies I’ve never sat in a Sprinter before as commercial and passenger cars are completely separate in the UK. I guess they’d use the same systems? It should be enabled by default which makes me think it might not have it but it might be different for a Sprinter.
@@npoleary Nick, thanks for the fast reply! I believe it does have the Traffic Sign Assist because the Traffic sign symbol on the Dash Display and on the SATNAV will change and show the correct speed limit, if it's under 55 MPH. It's only when the traffic signs show more than 55 MPH that it does not automatically adjust. I was hoping there might be a way of increasing the displayed limit somewhere in the system. I have this on my list of items to be check at our first service appointment, so if I can't figure it out, I hope they can! Thanks again for the help!
Oh that seems strange Paul! I mean on the ones here in the UK, it’s a simple on and off button in settings. Strange yours isn’t detecting anything above 55mph... I’d speak to your local Mercedes-Benz when you book it in, hopefully then can find out what’s going on!

11:06 "it does require you to have your home and work place set up in the satnav" ... I'd suggest not putting your exact address in there. If someone does steal your car, the thief knows you're not at home and might choose "home" from the satnav and go and rob your house. What I do is put an address a few houses down from mine. So if I live at number 24 I'd put in something like 14, or 34. It doesn't need to be exact, you know which house you live in ;-)
Hi Vee Macks, Yes you’re absolutely right however MBUX won’t let you put in your actual address. It will ask for the postcode, but that’s it. I guess Mercedes-Benz understand that could have been an issue so designed to only accept postcodes and not a house number as well.
@@SDav21 Well yeah. Choose the neighbours you like the least. You know the ones ... yes, them. What I've always done is just enter my town and street and added it as a saved address with a name attached to it like the name if a person.

Thank you! Ah very nice! Not all cars can do it, it’s only models that don’t have a touchpad in the middle of the car from what I’ve seen. Those models require you to log into the app to add a second user which copies the photo across.

Thanks Nick for the detailed video. Just wanted to ask about Voice Amplification feature. My third passengers tell me that they can hear sometimes me on the speakers but it’s not constantly. Do I have to press anything while talking? Or is it supposed to pick up my voice automatically? Thank you
I seem to recall something like that on a V-Class a while ago when I started my channel covering Mercedes. I think I remember seeing something called Voice Amplification in settings or something? I think from memory it only had an on/off toggle though.

Great system, but interesting that Mercedes needed to call it MBUX for 'User Experience.' Do we need yet another reminder of how expensive their vehicles are?
I just purchased a GLE53 and I like lots of these features. I like the MBUX system it is nice to use. I believe it is better than the 63S Cabriolet which does not MBUX. Deutsche Autos sind die beste in der Welt.
Awesome thanks Live Life! Just be aware the C-Class range doesn't have MBUX (the Hey Mercedes and software in this video) so it will look slightly different. But one thing this car doesn't have is that V8 growl! 💨

I just purchased 2020 diamond front sport exactly like this last year....Strange to see the drivers side on the right as I’m from the US. The only thing I would change is the black interior to beige (the black has a tendency to be quite dreary ). Overall ,Gorgeous at night esp. the ambient interior lighting , new tech touch screen and large Mercedes symbol (lights up) in front which if feel separates competitive suvs making the particular front exterior a WOW factor . Just a females perspective

Wow!! finally after a year of driving my CLA Coupé, I am learning all of these useful tips. I live in Osaka, Japan where I bought my Mercedes, and the instructions manual is -of course!! written in Japanese. On the instruments cluster on 2021 GLC 300 4 Matic AMG Line, there is a speed indicator on the upper part of the screen. It shows the speed in kmh. Please can this be changed to mph? I am not referring to the speed indicator that one can programme to appear in the middle of the screen. Thank you. Chris
Thank you Chris! Glad you’re loving the videos! Actually this is quite a common question but sadly no this cannot be changed. Basically it is a legal requirement to have mph and kph shown somewhere on your dashboard. Some manufacturers show this on the dials in small writing but Mercedes have a digital display of this. Hope that answers your question!
Hi Nick, i've been a big fan of your videos for a while, keep up the great work. I had a question related to this video. We recently got the new C-class, and my traffic light view isn't working - i'm not too bothered but just worried it might mean something else isn't quite right. I have it enabled in the menus but it never shows up. Any ideas or should i go to my dealer? Many thanks again.
Hey Capuchin, thank you! I think that tech uses Augmented Reality and sadly not all cars have it as it is quite rare. If you can see it then I believe you should have it but I’d double check with your local Mercedes and they should be able to check it out for you 🤓
Could you advise on why the "online services not available" now pops up most times making it impossible to ask "hey mercedes" anything other than the most basic functions... the A250 seemed ok for the first few weeks after collection on 17 Oct 2020. You could ask where it was born, ask it for a joke etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey George, just double check you have your car linked to your Mercedes me account, it’s verified and your services are switched on. You can check this on the Mercedes me portal on the website or via the app (top left).

Thank you! 🙏 Glad you enjoy them! I know you can view some element of that in the trip computers (From Start and From Reset) But not sure about total mileage. It could be that because it’s classed as one drivetrain it’ll only have history of the one mileage or in this case km. I’d suggest getting in contact with Mercedes, they might know the exact answer!

Hey sumita, ooo very nice! Sadly not all of them have the foot gesture at the back, it depends on specification selected and availability where you’re based. With the seatbelts, I don’t recall seeing seatbelts moving on a GLA when I’ve filmed one before, but if you speak with Mercedes, they can confirm what your car has 🤓

The new E-Class is scheduled to have a facelift kind of around about now, but due to COVID-19 the new ones might be delayed. Hard to tell but your dealership will be able to advise you!
Hi Nick, I think I have one of the last of the older ones. It’s a 2020.5 MY and I’ve heard from the dealer they have it in stock now. I’m just holding tight for a month for the 70 plate. I suspect therefore it may not have all the features. I’ll ask the dealer and check it out! The other thing I find unusual is that the centre of the two 12 inch screens isn’t a touch screen. Seems they missed a bit of a trick there, as you have to use the unusual looking touchpad/wheel instead. That said really looking forward to it, will be a fantastic car regardless and I got a cracking deal on it too :)
Yeah Adrian back when the E-Class was designed in 2015-2016 touchscreens didn’t exist in Mercedes-Benz! Now they’re cropping up everywhere!
It’s still an amazing system though, even better than the one previous to that!
The pre facelift E Class doesn't have MBUX but it has the newest version of Command which is still nice in my opinion. It uses the rotary controller which is nice to use.

All Mercedes-Benz will auto tune their DAB radios as you travel round the country etc. So you should be able to see the station you need right next to it.

Sometimes when I’m playing Spotify the image of that track displays but other times it’s just a blue screen with the name of the song. How can I get the image of the tracks to consistently show?

I’ve seen that sometimes when using 3rd party apps like Spotify. As it runs solely off of your phone, previously when I have closed the app and relaunched it, it appears again.

Hi Nick- Question about the speed limiter control: Can you make that NOT come on? I find that I will be cruising along and occasionally, my GLE will pick up a side speed limit.(say on an off ramp from the highway....if that makes sense?).....so I can go from70 mph to say 35 mph very quickly. Thank you for such a great 'idiots guide' - really useful, I love this App. That said it is on on my iPhone and is constantly saying the driver's window is open - and it isn't. It also says last updated 18 hours ago - but I have driven the car today so can't understand why it hasn't updated. I can't find any hints that tell me how to do it manually from the phone, so guess I can't. The window thing is really annoying as I have to keep going outside to make sure the windows are closed so it is becoming a nuisance rather than an asset. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanx

that’s strange with your window though...I would speak with your local dealership, it might need to be adjusted just ever so slightly. I know the app will classify your windows as being “open” even if it’s down like a centimetre. Hopefully they can sort it for you!

I would like to see if you could make a recommendation to Mercedes if they could add a feature to their cars?
One of my biggest gripes is that the rearview mirror isn't motorized to where one could set in their profile the position of the rearview mirror. The sideview mirrors can be set based on a profile, the seats can be set based on a profile, but the rearview mirror has always been and still is manually maneuvered. It would be nice to be able to have this mirror set up based on profile so that we don't have to manually reposition the mirror when ever changing drivers. Could you recommend to Mercedes to address this and to have them motorized the rearview mirror and be able to be setup based on profiles?

However interesting you should mention that though, Mercedes-Benz have made this before. This did exist I believe on 2002-2004 S-Class’s…however sadly because people still grabbed and moved it, the motors wore out quickly so in modern cars today, it’s the only item that you have to move out of the others like the steering wheel and seat.
@@npoleary Oh,. ok. I did not know that this existed before. However, just as how many products that come on the market before their time and end up fizzling out; many times the same product can come back to the market decades later and then they become a hit.
My point I'm making is that due to how, now, tech in cars is exploding (i.e. ambient lighting and touchscreens, etc...) It might be a good idea for Mercedes to bring that feature back? And even to put it in ALL their models. Since Mercedes is venturing down this new path of EV's, touchscreen, more AI adoptions in cars, etc...
Maybe, whomever you do have contact with over at Mercedes, could be given this idea and maybe someone who's new at the manufacturer may even decide to bring this feature back, with improved design and function to where manual operation of the mirror wouldn't burn the motor out? After all, technology has come a long way in the last 20 years. 👍

I've just took lease delivery of a 72 plate eqc premium plus , but it doesn't seem to have the upgrade audio or the augmented sat nav , I rang mercedes and they informed me that the augmented nav has been discontinued due to teck probs and they have stopped putting in the burmister audio ( apologies for spelling)

Hey A B, best to speak with your local Mercedes dealership on Active Park Assist as it varies massively round the world and hasn’t been available on virtually on new cars for the past year or so due to United Nations Regulations. If you chat with your local Mercedes, they’ll be able to check your car out and advise from there.
Regarding the speed, is it the units like kph and mph that isn’t right? As you can change this in settings 🤓

When you turned off the "hey mercedes" you did not show how you did that or what you touched to do that. Same thing with the volume of the warning. You changed the volume but you did not show how you did that, ie: what you touched.
Nick is there any reason why the left dial would not change? i.e. you have to be in classic. my QEC will not go to the left dial in the instrument cluster. Thanks for the help

There is a thing that’s called Digital Key Handover but it’s not for one person and does not replace the key as such.
I want to actually make a video on it somewhen but from what I’ve heard basically it allows you to share the car with others. One of the keys gets stored in the car, and then the app deactivates it. Then you can share the car with others at a specific time / date and invite them through Mercedes me to use the car.
The other person can unlock the car using an app and start it using their phone. Used for sharing with others not for one person so nothing like E-Class Digital key.

I only know the answer to this for the UK so don’t know what it’s like for other countries. But in the UK there is no slot, it’s updated automatically over the air when connected to your Mercedes me account. This is for cars with MBUX “Hey Mercedes”. If you don’t have that then the process will be different.

Hey Nick, great video! We just picked up a new RV built on the 2020 Sprinter Chassis with the MBUX system. We are here in the USA and the Speed Limit display only goes to 55 MPH even if the road signs indicate the speed limit is more than that. How do we get the system to recognize speed limit signs that are higher than 55 MPOH, such as 60, 65, and 70 MPH??

Thank you! It depends if your car has Traffic Sign Assist as it may only have speed limit assist. The difference being that it may not have the camera at the top of the windscreen which would acquire that data and would only rely upon Sat Nav data.
Apologies I’ve never sat in a Sprinter before as commercial and passenger cars are completely separate in the UK. I guess they’d use the same systems? It should be enabled by default which makes me think it might not have it but it might be different for a Sprinter.

I believe it does have the Traffic Sign Assist because the Traffic sign symbol on the Dash Display and on the SATNAV will change and show the correct speed limit, if it's under 55 MPH. It's only when the traffic signs show more than 55 MPH that it does not automatically adjust. I was hoping there might be a way of increasing the displayed limit somewhere in the system. I have this on my list of items to be check at our first service appointment, so if I can't figure it out, I hope they can! Thanks again for the help!

11:06 "it does require you to have your home and work place set up in the satnav" ... I'd suggest not putting your exact address in there. If someone does steal your car, the thief knows you're not at home and might choose "home" from the satnav and go and rob your house. What I do is put an address a few houses down from mine. So if I live at number 24 I'd put in something like 14, or 34. It doesn't need to be exact, you know which house you live in ;-)

Yes you’re absolutely right however MBUX won’t let you put in your actual address. It will ask for the postcode, but that’s it. I guess Mercedes-Benz understand that could have been an issue so designed to only accept postcodes and not a house number as well.

Not all cars can do it, it’s only models that don’t have a touchpad in the middle of the car from what I’ve seen.
Those models require you to log into the app to add a second user which copies the photo across.

I seem to recall something like that on a V-Class a while ago when I started my channel covering Mercedes. I think I remember seeing something called Voice Amplification in settings or something? I think from memory it only had an on/off toggle though.

I just purchased a GLE53 and I like lots of these features. I like the MBUX system it is nice to use. I believe it is better than the 63S Cabriolet which does not MBUX. Deutsche Autos sind die beste in der Welt.

My one was front wheel drive but I feel the only thing missing was 4MATIC which I didn't have at the time.
I just purchased 2020 diamond front sport exactly like this last year....Strange to see the drivers side on the right as I’m from the US. The only thing I would change is the black interior to beige (the black has a tendency to be quite dreary ). Overall ,Gorgeous at night esp. the ambient interior lighting , new tech touch screen and large Mercedes symbol (lights up) in front which if feel separates competitive suvs making the particular front exterior a WOW factor . Just a females perspective

On the instruments cluster on 2021 GLC 300 4 Matic AMG Line, there is a speed indicator on the upper part of the screen. It shows the speed in kmh. Please can this be changed to mph? I am not referring to the speed indicator that one can programme to appear in the middle of the screen. Thank you. Chris

Actually this is quite a common question but sadly no this cannot be changed.
Basically it is a legal requirement to have mph and kph shown somewhere on your dashboard. Some manufacturers show this on the dials in small writing but Mercedes have a digital display of this.

I think that tech uses Augmented Reality and sadly not all cars have it as it is quite rare.
If you can see it then I believe you should have it but I’d double check with your local Mercedes and they should be able to check it out for you 🤓

Could you advise on why the "online services not available" now pops up most times making it impossible to ask "hey mercedes" anything other than the most basic functions... the A250 seemed ok for the first few weeks after collection on 17 Oct 2020. You could ask where it was born, ask it for a joke etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey George, just double check you have your car linked to your Mercedes me account, it’s verified and your services are switched on. You can check this on the Mercedes me portal on the website or via the app (top left).

Glad you enjoy them! I know you can view some element of that in the trip computers (From Start and From Reset)
But not sure about total mileage. It could be that because it’s classed as one drivetrain it’ll only have history of the one mileage or in this case km.
I’d suggest getting in contact with Mercedes, they might know the exact answer!

Sadly not all of them have the foot gesture at the back, it depends on specification selected and availability where you’re based.
With the seatbelts, I don’t recall seeing seatbelts moving on a GLA when I’ve filmed one before, but if you speak with Mercedes, they can confirm what your car has 🤓
