What is the minimum spec AVR you would recommend for a SVS PB16 subwoofer with 2 Definitive Technology BP9040's as front and rear speakers and 1 CS9060 center channel? I currently have Pioneer Elite LX101 AVR powering the above speakers but with DT ProSub 800 subwoofer (not an SVS). Thanks!
Hey Youthman, how would you compare any of the SVS subwoofers, with Klipsch rf line of speakers. I will have about a room that should be 18 by 21 feet. And I think I would prefer to go with the ported versions, since you can always seal, a ported subwoofer. But I just wanted to ask about this here. I should also say it has been recommended that I go with the pb-3000’s for my dual sub woofers, so I will more then likely go that route. Since I have a smaller space, and it will require bring them down the stairs…
Great video youthman! Love your enthusiasm makes me want to go out and get 2 svs pb1000. I can only fit them subs where I want to put them. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Thanks Bobby!
RIP Neighbourhood. :D
Do you think that SB-16 at medium volume would handle great with extremely low notes in movies?
Yes, the high volume was the key. The only other thing I did not try is lowering the trim on the receiver and increasing the volume on the sub to say -5dB. Not sure that would have fixed what I was hearing though.
Probably your best video yet. Really good watch.
The size of that sub is just crazy. Props for even managing to unbox it solo!
Thanks Nallen. You are like the third person that said this was my best video yet. Just curious what was different about it that you really liked. I was worried I talked too much haha
Youthman Alright, lots of wow factor from the size of the sub, your typical enthusiasm, good production values with the movie clips, detailed in depth review on an interesting topic. The occasional longer video is good to see. Hope that helps!
Definitely does. Thank you for your feedback. I’m always looking to improve and provide more value for my audience. Thanks!
@youthman Given my financial and space limitations, what would you recommend between 1 of these, a JTR RS1, and a Seaton F18? I an probably 80% movies, with the rest being music. I have tried the SB3000, but returned it. I'm looking for wow factor, within reason...meaning, I don't want to destroy my bank account or home lol. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
Hi Youthman, found your channel because of the Klipch Atmos speakers but glad I did you have some really great videos out here! great job!
I am in a similar boat that my subwoofers are behind my projector screen but I currently have the SVS PB12-Plus/2 which is down firing dual 12’s and since they are down firing and ports are in the back (and sub sits on the floor and projector screen goes doesn’t go down all the way to the floor) I don’t have any issues with screen moving during heavy bass but have that concern with these new SVS subs
Do you think you can face the subs the opposite direction and that would mostly alleviate the issue? I know cosmetically it wouldn’t look as good and hard to get to front panel controls (have the app) but do you think there would be a noticeable sound difference. Been thinking of upgrading and that was my plan to point sub towards wall because I couldn’t deal with the screen swaying during heavy bass but if that has a noticeable negative affect on how the bass sounds then I cant go down that route.
Great video Youthman! Those PBs are a BEAST!
Really cool. I'm sure they sound pretty darn good. Thanks for the update YM!
Probably a little better than that lol
Our room size 20×10×10 feet. Will svs pb16 ultra fit our room or is it a bit extra
Hi man !
I need a sub for home which has bluetooth or any other wireless means for phone streaming; etc and can also be connected with Tv, pc, home theater wirelessly or wired. Can you recommend anything? It needs to hit nice deep and low.. also a bit loud so that can be used for occasions. Mike/guitar attachment feature is not compulsury. I don't mind bit little distortions in soundquality here and there, but as always should be as min as possible, overall sound should be average. Just a plain sub-box...can be one of those sub-sound systems like Jbl Eon one (people are suggesting that, don't know if its capable of doing the job)
Not anything as expensive as these... love to have though...
Thanks for sharing your review. Your friends reviews were great as well. Glad you mentioned the towers and center upcoming reviews. Would be happy to mention you when making my Ultra Towers purchase. Cheers
Thanks w m. It's always fun to have guys over to share in the experience. Thanks for the mention when you order them. Are you buying them direct?
Youthman That was my plan. By referring you does that give you some benefit?
Nah, I don't get any benefit by mentioning my name. I do have an Affiliate account with SVS so if you do use any of my links in the description of my videos to purchase your gear, I make a small commission for referring you. It's no additional cost to you.
Great video @Youthman, I always enjoy listening to what you say. You got skillz with your pleasant tone and clear communication.
Thank you Aniv. I certainly appreciate your kind words. Thanks for watching!
@youthman - if you are ready to purchase dual subs, would you buy the SVS pb16 or a Klipsch R-115SW?
I have not heard the R-115SW subs yet as I’m waiting on Klipsch to send me a unit to review. I do not have a ship date yet.
I can say the PB-16 is a BEAST of a sub. Incredible output, ridiculous depth.
Really appreciate your time youthman..It really helps me decide which one I want to purchase...Your knowledge was very helpful.. Thanks 👍
Glad to help
Nice video! I am running the SB 16’s which work perfect for me since my room is much smaller than yours (about 1275 cf). I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these. I checked out the PB version but unfortunately it was just too big for the area I have to work with. Keep the awesome videos coming!
Thanks Joe. Just finished watching The Greatest Showman with my wife. The PB16 sounded fantastic and we didn't even have it very loud (my wife hates it loud).
Jessica likes it nice and peaceful
Think two SB16s would give more headroom/impact than a PB with less distortion? Sealed subs can sometimes go lower with room gain. I love my two sealed subs, I auditioned a ported xtz sub but it wasn't as musical and in some scenes evidently so (double bass In whiplash)
I wonder if I were to go with 2 Ultra SB16's and stack my 2 current JL Audio 113 Fathoms v2 Sub Woofers on top of the Ultra SB 16's ?
You think I would be able to experience the same lower frequencies as what 2 Ultra PB16's put out ?
I'm guessing that the lower frequency levels should work without any distortion issues since I'll be using a total of 4 Sub Woofers and the volume levels on the subs don't have to be turned up as loud compared to only having 2 subs...
I wish I could use dual Ultra PB16's, but they are a bit to large for my space...
Great review...
Thanks so much for sharing your passion eloquently. Is a pair a must? My room is 20’deep x 15’ wide and 9’ high.
I would not say you need one but you definitely could benefit from multiple subwoofers. Take a look at this video and see how adding a second subwoofer completely changed the frequency response in my room - ua-cam.com/video/eXfH9WH8Yw8/v-deo.html
Afterthought.. Paradigm Speakers .. Sub 1 (or New Persona Sub) ..I'd love to know if SVS PB 16 does better. .. Thoughts?
I have not heard Paradigm speakers or subs yet. Paradigm will be sending me a pair of Towers and a Center from the Premier Series
Wow top video interested to know output wise is there big difference between svs pb4000 vs pb16 ultra both massive both ported both do low hz ? but is there big difference in the feeling and hearing wise ?
I haven’t heard the PB4000 so I couldn’t provide any insight to that.
I think frequency response is pretty much same. Pretty sure there is a very big difference in output.
I went with the sb16 ultra since it has the same components but the cabinet is a bit smaller which helps on space. I’m still working on my theater setup though. May post some videos on it.
Thank you so much for these videos Youthman. I am debating between a single PB3000 or a single SB16 Ultra. I have a smaller home theatre room (18X13) 7 ft ceiling. Please give me your opinion on which you would go with.
The PB3000 should perform very well in that size room. My room is 13’ x 19’ with 10’ ceiling and it was adequate for it.
I have a single PB-16 ultra and even though it sounds great I feel like its having difficulty pressurizing my room. I have it extended with the single center plug, but could it be subwoofer location or does it need a professional calibrating cause I already tried calibrating with my Marantz SR8012, a tiny better but still not feeling pressure in my chest, only my legs. OR do I really just need duals?
I would invest in a $100 calibration mic and REW (FREE) before buying a $2500 sub. It will help you determine the best location and settings for your sub. You might need a second sub but at least optimize the one you have first.
@@Youthman okay, is room eq wizard beginner friendly? I'm not familiar with using/understanding this type of software, I'm decently new to the home theater 🌎
I wouldn’t say it’s beginner friendly. Definitely more of an advanced tool
Thank you 🥰 helped me choose the pb16. And thank you for showing off the piano gloss. Awesome stuff m8 you're a star
i do have dual Klipsch Palladium p312w. which i think is in the mid section of output between those two baby. i would like to test it. in the other hand, how well those tower performs against the klipsch rf7III? low end, mid to highs?
Carlos, I haven't put them side by side but I don't feel the Ultra Towers are on the same level as the RF-7 II and RF-7 III. I'm thinking they are either similar to the RP-280F or somewhere between them and the RF-7 III. The RF-7 III have a wider sound stage and a more enveloping sound, likely due to the wide dispersion of the horn and the much larger 1.75" compression driver tweeter. The Ultra Towers have a lot of bottom end but don't have the same slam factor as the dual 10" I feel from the RF-7 II and RF-7 III.
Youthman sounds fear personal review. By the way, I heard klipsch is planning to release a new lineup equivalent to palladium system 3way loudspeaker...
I believe I heard that as well. I just don’t have any details
Loved this video! Great review!
Thanks for the kind words Jake.
Will 2 of the svs sb16 sound better then my 2 spl 120 klipsch looking for more sound pressure
Not sure as I haven’t heard the SPL 120. My guess is yes but that’s only a guess
I have to wait 4 weeks for the pb16 in black ash but can get it in piano by this weekend. My dad is telling me gloss would suck for movie viewing. I don't know what to do!.
Fantastic video man! Lots of great information. That PB16 Ultra is as gorgeous, as it is substantial!
Thanks! I'm certainly loving what I'm hearing from the PB16's
Do you have acoustic treatment in your room?? I hear a slight reverb in your voice when listening with headphones!
Yes my room has been acoustically treated. Keep in mind if you don’t have some amount of reverb in your room, it will not sound natural and will be lifeless.
I just saw this video but didn't see anyone ask. With bass considered non directional did you turn them sideways to keep the ports blowing on your screen?
I don’t believe I have enough room between speakers to turn them sideways
Youthman turn them around 180?
Possibly, the honestly, I can’t see the screen move once the lights are turned off so I don’t think it’s an issue with them facing forward. I would rather not be looking at amp plates and wires when the screen is lifted
great video..thanks for all the hard work
Thanks!
I was wondering if it would sound right having 1 sb16 and 1 pb16 to get the best of both worlds, get the 440hz tones from the sb16 aswell as getting the 11hz tones from the pb16. Phase it all good and nothing should be interrupted.
It is typically not a good idea to mix sealed and ported subs as you can create cancellation issues
Have you listened to blade runner 2 on your system ?
Can you make me a video comparing the Golden ear Super Sub XXL and also those ported SVS subwoofers.
This is encouraging , always loved SVS , from their original passive cylinder 4216? Maybe 42 high 16 diameter, to SB4000 that didn’t do my room justice until I moved from one corner to another. Will look to purchase dual PB16s via your affiliate link in the coming months.
Thanks Wolverine. The PB16s are fantastic subwoofers.
The other difference is the drivers. The sb16 has an overhung coil and the pb16 is underhung.
What are the ports tuned for?
Good video. I have dual PB-2000s and have been considering dual SB-Ultras for my next upgrade. You have confirmed that the PB16 will be the better fit for me (100% home theatre). Just have to somehow justify the size of those beasts. Thanks for the video.
Thanks and good luck
LOL!! That coupon is awesome! Where can get one? Great video once again!
Haha...I couldn't resist with that one
Excellent review. Looking at the SB16 for my open concept living area. Maybe 10,000 cubic feet. Just worried the dual SB will not be enough to fill this area. The PB is not an option for aesthetic reasons. Should I be looking at something else, Brand? I like the size of the SB.
Your experience with the SB16 vs PB16 is exactly my experience with the difference being I used one instead of two. My theater is almost a big as yours (12 x 18 x 10) and I find one PB16 works well for me. I would like to add a second but I have to manage the budget.
Awesome Kesna. You might be able to find a good deal on a used one
Have you ever tested dual Monolith 15’s? Thanks for the video.
Yes - ua-cam.com/video/JX-r6ZNhTIs/v-deo.html
I also have several other videos on the channel for the M-216
Buddy wich is better for movies pb or sb??? Also wich is better you believe for movies 2 pb2000 pro or 2 sb3000? Please Little help🙏
I typically prefer ported subs for movies. I can get away with sealed subs in my room because of having (4) 18’s which move a massive amount of air.
Youthman, Great Video. By the way when you are unboxing large equipment I would consider setting them on carpet sliders. That would make it easier to move around on that carpet. That way you would not have to remove the feet thereby scratching the bottom finish.
Keep the Videos coming.
Great Job.
Thanks Paul. Yeah when I made the video, I didn’t want to run up town to get them. Easier to remove the feet.
Great review. I rarely get a chance to let My system cut loose condo living 4th floor. So I love to watch videos of Home theaters that do. Enjoy those bass beasts.
Thanks Toby. I'm certainly impressed of them so far.
two klipsch 15 in subs or one sb 16? 12x20ft room w 9 ft ceilings
I haven’t unboxed the Dual R-115SW yet to hear them but I would guess Dual R-115SW would outperform a single SB16. My room is 13’ x 19’ with 10’ ceilings.
@@Youthman and how do you think a year later? I have the same problem here: two R-115SW or one SB16/PB16, mostly for music. 14x26ft room 9ft ceilings.
Thank you for all your nice videos. I need a suggestion here. I was planning to buy a SB 4000. Now I am thinking why not SB 16 ultra? What is your view on that? I heard 4000s are so good that SB 16 ultra is unncecessary. I am mostly a music guy tho'. Please help; would really appreciate. Also I heard 4000s are newer tech. And my space is small and limited.
I have heard nothing but great things about the 4000 series but have not heard them myself.
@@Youthman Hmm, I live in MS and I have no chance here to hear one myself. I am trying to educated guess buy a sub.
Check out Techno Dad’s channel. He has the PB4000 in for review
@@Youthman Hey I am thinking of getting a SB 16 ultra. I have KEF LS50s and I am a audiophile guy with occasional movies. what say? I have another Hsu Research VTF 3 mark iV to give kinda balance to the woofer sound.
Would have loved to have seen your friends reaction to hearing the PB16’s for the first time. That definitely should have been in the video.
Thanks you decided for me. I was not sure if the SB had the same authority for my cinema as the PB'S but just watching your entire face change and body language go from good to damn outstanding when talking about the PB'S your excitement sold me on my choice of new subs.
LOL, that's too funny. The PB16's are certainly quite impressive. My room is 13' x 19' with 10' ceiling and they have absolutely no problem pressurizing my room. How large is yours? If you do decide to purchase them, if you use my links in the description of the video, I will receive a small commission for referring you which helps me to continue to provide great content on this channel. Thanks and have fun!
Youthman if you plugged all the ports in on the PB'S would they turn into the SB'S albeit large ones, but in theory have the same response, bass, transient response etc? When I make my purchase I don't mind giving you a referral even though I'm in Australia I'm sure you'll still get the credit from SVS they're good like that. I wish all high end audio was as decent.
I would think in theory yes. You would just have more output. The good thing is you have 3 options to see what sounds best to your ears
will you be doing a demo with the svs prime elevation speakers
I’m not sure yet. I have not requested any surround speakers as it is a little bit more difficult for me to test them in my room because of the way that my current speakers are mounted. But it may be a possibility
Another great video man!!
Still waiting for the review comparing the ultra center against your Klipsch.
Thanks George. Trying to juggle all of this gear at once. Probably should cut back on how much gear I let them send me lol
Youthman, I wish I had the same problems.
Every time I see that you have posted a video it feels like Christmas morning again. This is truly a very fun and passionate hobby.
Glad to you share in my excitement
Hi , I’m thinking on replacing my old Klipsch rt10 sub that I have paired with the RF7ii . I was thinking on going dual subs keeping the one I have and adding the sb4000 or eliminate mine and just add the sb16. What would you recommend? Thank you !!!!
I had Dual RT10 and they didn’t impress me. My single RSW15 outperformed it. Really depends on your budget. Do you want New or are you ok buying used. The SB16 will kill the RT10D.
I don’t mind buying used , as long is in good condition.
Where are you located?
I’m located in New Jersey. A town called vineland.
2 PB4000 = 1 PB 4000 That is my build.
can you compare 1 piece of Klipsch R-115SW with 1 piece of some SVS sub(s) and also compare their max SPL (dB(c)) with dB meter? I'm very interesting in this comparision and beacuse I'm from east Europe, it is very hard for me to get SVS sub and do it on my own :/
Thank you
Thanks Mr D. I’m waiting to receive a full 7.2.4 Reference Premier Setup. Not sure what subs they are sending me
Hello wich more subbs are you planing to test against the svs pb16-ultra..? PSA/Rythmik/JTR/HSU/ Something else..?
Best regards
PSA is sending me a single S3601. Ive owned one HSU. It was ok but not my preferred sub. I have reached out to JTR several times but have not received a reply.
Youthman ok interesting to see what you like s3601 against pb16-ultra.? but you did not want to test ported PSA against your pb16 ultra ..?
I did a Facebook Poll to see what speaker people would be interested the most in having me review and the sealed had twice as many votes. The SB16 didn’t do as well with really low frequencies so I had SVS send me the PB16.
If the S3601 have plenty of output and don’t struggle with lower frequencies, I’m completely fine with sealed subs and would work out better sams it wouldn’t move my screen as much as ported subs do
Youthman Ok im realy intressted in your thougts betwin PSA and SVS it stand betwin them for me..:-) when are you going to get it Home and do a review of it you Think..?
Tom (co-owner of PSA) said he should be able to send me one mid June after they got the new amps in. I just saw on Twitter the other day that the amps came in
Great review, question tho... were each the subs connected to a dedicated 20 amp circuit? Thx
My lights are on the original 15 amp going to the room. A 20 amp was installed for all of my equipment, subwoofers etc. The projector is technically outside the room and is connected to a 15 amp circuit.
@@Youthman good stuff. Thx 👍🏽
Wife acceptance factor is exactly zero with something that big if it's not behind your screen LOL
Haha that is for sure!
Youthman my wife would kill me lol, she is built like me Ha.
Oh snap. Better not get on her bad side. She might hurl a 45 plate at your hear lol
Youthman HA true story.
Not true, I love my Svs subs, and I'm a 50 year old female.
I used to be into these things back when I was younger but some things just change in your life when you get older it was so many years that I never gave a look back at none of these things I was really detailed in home theater installation and installed a great one in my home but for years I didn't turn it on just didn't think about these things too much and it was all due to tragic of things happening in my life I'm glad to be able to at least sit and watch these videos again can't say that I'm too into it too much anymore but I do remember some things about it things changed up a lot since I last been around home theater systems
hi how much in uk money did you buy
Incredible. Your best video yet. Thank you soo much for sharing.
Thank you so much! I'm really not sure what I did so differently with this video but you are the 4th person that has said it is my best video yet.
Youthman
LOL. You always do a phenomenal job with all your videos. The reason I say and I’m pretty sure the other 3 have said this was your best video yet is because this video involved soo much SVS subwoofers that it was just a joy to watch. Seeing the SB16 and the PB16 right next to each otherwas amazing. I recently changed my dual SB16 Ultras to PB16 Ultras and agree with you on everything you and your friends said in the video. So it was the content of the video that made it best yet and as for you, you’re always the BEST in every video.
have you ever heard svs pb 4000 vs pb 16ultra? it is a big difference?
I have not heard the PB4000
I love your videos, great positive energy :)
Which finish would you pick if you decide to get the PB-16 ultras?
I absolutely LOVE the look of the Piano Black. I have not seen the wood finish but the Piano Black is gorgeous. I have never owned piano black speakers so I'm not sure how well they hold up over time. Someone mentioned eventually you will end up with swirl marks from wiping them down and the dust scratching the surface. Not sure if or how much truth there is to that. They do get dirty very easily so if they are out in the open, just be prepared to wipe them down weekly.
From my experience the piano gets dirty really fast like same day fast everything sticks to them and if you have kids or animals expect them to scratch really fast. I personally have the wood grain the reason for it well I saved about 1000$ for both ( I have 2 SB's in wood grain) and my friend has a piano SB and after 3 months they look like they have been through 3 moves and he takes car of them just as much as his kids...lol. he ended up putting a clear protection over it like on cars to keep it nice. I would suggest getting it clear bras as soon as its out of the box get a vinyl wrapper to do it at home same day you get it. hope this helps
Saludos desde Perú, ¿cómo obtengo o dónde lo puedo comprar?, me interesa mucho el producto 🙏
I had the same experience with the screen moving. If you remember, I have dual DTS10's behind my screen. I do see the screen move with lights on and can't tell with lights off. Of course, when the slam hits, I'd never know if it was my eyeballs shaking in their sockets or the screen. Besides...when something goes boom, your vision does appear to shake in real life!
That’s awesome. I still haven’t heard the DTS10.
I have a suspicion that the DTS10's have at least as much slam as the PB16's for less money. However, I also suspect they are harder to tune and aren't as smooth across a wide range of frequencies.
Not to mention a really large, odd shaped cabinet
👍👍Thanx. 🔘 I have few Questions :
What's the difference between the two Biggest of SVSs please?? And what are they in type & models?? I know there are two one with 16er other with 4000er and what size of each drive please??
Check out the SVS website to compare the PB16 and PB4000. That’s their two largest subwoofers.
@@Youthman Thank you.
What is the size of their each big front drive 🔘 please? Is it 16" inches (40.5cm) in both models (PB16 & PB4000)? And what's the difference in quality? Kindest regards.
I have not reviewed the PB4000. The specs of all of their products are clearly listed on their website.
@@Youthman 👌ok i'll try to find out. I just thought you them even if not reviewd them (yet). Regards
Pls for the Love of GOD, when handling anything as heavy as this Sub, BEND YOUR KNEES AND NOT YOUR BACK!!!
Yeah his back was messed up for a few days. I bend my knees. Learned the hard way many years ago
Messed my back twice ....
@Kevin Wittwer You’re 4 years late but you're welcome.
You can joke all you like but if you read the replies, and watch the video you'd know this isn't a joke.
Have you ever ventured into the DIY world of Subwoofers and compared them to what you have heard? Also have you considered trying one of the Rythmiks to compare to SVS offering?
Hi John Boy. No I probably won’t venture into DIY. Not much of an interest for me and I’m not very handy when it comes to DIY. Eventually I would like to hear something from Rhythmik
Yothman i just like your personality and specialy reviews, you just set me on fire to buy one PB-16,greetings from Slovenia
Thank you so much Mario. Hello from the US! I certainly appreciate the kind words and am glad that you are enjoying the videos. If you use my affiliate link when you purchase the PB16, SVS will give me a small commission for referring you. Here is the link to order it directly from SVS - www.kqzyfj.com/click-8757800-12940222?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.svsound.com%2Fproducts%2Fpb16-ultra&cjsku=8651014988
OK,thank you for your answer here in europe it cost 3.500 euros,i will have to save some extra money in the near future is definitly my.
Hi Sir, Can i request you to make a comparative video between SVS PB4000 and SB16 Ultra ? Would be very helpful. Thanks...
Thanks Simon, it could be an option down the road but I just received the SB3000 and PB3000 so it might be awhile
@@Youthman I too am struggling deciding between dual PB4000s and SB16 Ultras. Of course I'd rather have the higher output of the PB4000, but this is going in my living room (so high WAF is important), which is open to the kitchen and dining room, and the bedrooms are just down the hall. For 95% of the time, would the SB16 Ultras be enough? I ask because you said it bottoms out at low frequencies and near reference volume.
For movies, I would go with the PB4000. Them down the road if that’s not enough, you could get a second one. I SB3000 sounded great in my room for music but I was not overly impressed with it for movies.
Of course everyone’s room is different and the amount of bass you desire might be different than mine.
Thanks, im undecided between the sb16 ultra or the pb4000 becuase of space constraints
I’ve heard great things about the PB4000. It’s no slouch by any means.
@@Youthman I'm wondering how it will sound against my current HSU VTF-15h mk2
PB16 sealed vs SB16.. Which sounded better?
Not sure, I know we played with the ports on the PB 16 but I don’t think we ever tried Comparing the PB 16 sealed against the SP 16
NewYorkBlack if you into both movies and music pb16 ultra great thing about it you can customize it for both music and movies using its preset and the app
Am from new york to brooklyn my upstairs neighbor tried shutting me down one time with his music i had to show him who the real boss is lol
Now that’s the NY spirit!
Youthman lol yep
I second that opinion of SVS, the company is awesome. Customer service is one of best out there. I owned dual ultra 13s which I traded for dual PB 4000s, I understand watching you get it out of the box. You gonna new a few of those chiropractic coupons...thanks for posting Youthman!
Haha I feel great. Glad I had help moving them though
First great video as always. Thanks so much for posting. And basically what you're saying is PB16 > RSW15 > SB16s? BUT would you say that the PB16 is 5 times better than the Klipsch? (since $2500 is x5 than the $500 for the RSWs)
Thanks Jason! I have compared a single RSW-15 against a single SB-16 and compared Dual RSW-15 against Dual SB-16 and experienced more output from the RSW-15's. In our testing on Saturday, we only compared the SB16's to the PB16's. Wish it was easier to compare but moving around 175lb subs to compare to each other isn't an easy feat and takes a lot of time. I do not think a single RSW-15 will outperform a single PB16 in output and especially in handling low frequencies.
Whew! Great Unboxing Vid! Beast SVS! 😀
Thanks RAF! It's a monster for sure! Sounds amazing too! I just don't know if it will be too much behind my AT screen. Need to do some more testing. May try and turn the subs sideways so the ports aren't blowing against the screen or get some type of decoupler.
Youthman Wow sounds like quite the different sub than the rsw-15's. How long do you get to test them?
Oh man, I envy you brother, this looks amazing!!!
Thanks. Those speakers were in for review. Here is my setup - ua-cam.com/video/9rQxNd1Lf38/v-deo.html
Awesome! I would recommend you to watch The Commuter. I have small speakers and I thought that i really needed to upgrade, but when I heard this movie in Dolby True HD format it made my speakers come alive. I can't imagine how it would sound in your theater!
I haven't seen that one yet. Thanks for the recommendation.
Awesome video... love it
Thank you kindly!
That makes me happy that yours sounded denticle to my home theater cuz you have an actual dedicated home theater room great video you should have let me know I would have stopped by to👍
Next time you will get the invite!
Youthman yeah I want to see you're system with atmos speakers that's going to sound interesting
Me too
Have to say... I'm definitely a sealed sub fan.... But also have to say this is your best video yet.... Entertaining, informative and enlightening.... Agree with everything... I'm 2 channel music based in my system, hence SB16 for me.. But if movies had greater priority or the room were a bit larger I would likely have gone PB.....
Thank you kindly Marcus. Glad you are enjoying the content. I think the SB16 would be fantastic for music and even great for Home Theater. I just want to feel the movie as much as I want to hear it. I have owned a pair of Velodyne HGS15's that were sealed and always enjoyed them. When I bought my first Klipsch RSW-15, it has as much output as Dual HGS15's so I sold it and eventually found 3 more to go with it.
Marcus, you are the 3rd or 4th person that has mentioned you felt this was my best video yet. Is there something that you can pinpoint that you feel made it the best one yet? Apparently I did something right but have no idea what it was. Haha.
Youthman.. same passion, drive, enthusiasm as normal... But the fact that the products are of personal interest to me helps... You talk of (and show) practical solutions to difficulties of positioning subs of this size.. There's a genuine respect to supplying companies and your helpers, that's hard not to appreciate.... In this video we had unboxing, size comparison, comparison of performance and some second opinions... Keep up the good work..
Thank you for the feedback! That certainly is helpful to me
they look gorgous you will be very happy with them for years to come.....hello from niagara falls canada
Thanks John! Niagara Falls is on my Bucket List. Would love to visit there sometime
LMAO about the refrigerator comment. I subscribed because your videos are really cool.
Thank you Mark. I certainly am glad you are enjoying the content and thanks for subscribing.
to reach lowest frequencies it needs to have two ports open.
Also I ld love to hear in which part of the song they struggled.
There were three areas it didn’t sound good.
1). Bass I love You song. Near the beginning of the song it hits a really low frequency.
2). During the train crash in Super8
3) Very beginning of Edge of Tomorrow during the 10Hz sine wave
I had all ports open. I’m not sure if I was hearing port chuffing, all I know is it wasn’t clean. Sounded “floppy”
Now that’s what you call a subwoofer!!!!!!! Great video youthman
It’s quite ridiculous John lol
hey great comments.i will suggest, for another video to show the subs workings, and test with the mini dsp to see the eq curve. also the test setting on the avr, like crossover frequency of the lfe channel, you already mention the power db level of the sub. but also hpf of your mains.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have a friend visiting in a few weeks that is familiar with REW so I'll get him to help get me somewhat familiar with it so I can use in my videos.
Did they give you the subs or did you buy them?
I wish they would have give them to me. 😀 I bought the PB16’s.
Hi Youthman. Wondering what you thought of the extended version with one port plugged in to hear the lowest frequency possible for that PB Ultras? How much difference from the standard version?
That’s one of the things I want to try. We did it with the Dual SB16 and all preferred the Standard (all ports open).
With the PB16, doing Extended May loose a tad of output but I don’t think I would miss it with the PB16 since they already have an enormous amount of output.
Yeah, I'm thinking of just keeping it on that on my dual pb4000's but I'll have to do some test trials with all three modes for several weeks and see which one suits me.
Yeah it’s all about preference and what is most important to you
One more request to make was is it possible to make a comparative video between SVS SB 16 Ultra Vs Klipsch R-115 SW. It would be very helpful sir . Which is better ? Thanks....
I have Dual R-115SW in for review so yes, that would be possible
I know what sub I want what should I get for center and surrounds ?
It depends on what your ears prefer
@@Youthman I want pretty crisp highs and good mids also don't have very high budget want something that's good for music and movies
Would love to see you review a Rythmik Audio subwoofer(s)
I would be open to reviewing them. I had already added them to my list to contact After I finish reviewing some of the products I have now.
Wow!😱👍Subwoofer PB 16 Svs ultra, I still have not heard him in action, but, it must be spectacular, from what you said, for me it is one of the best to date. Felt a little cold in the belly ??? it shook the belly !!! 😬 What about the air ducts? Does it make any difference to close with acoustic foam? what comes in the packaging, I was impressed by the size of the subwoofer, it is very beautiful .. it is too much ... More a great video, congratulations !!! Hungs!👌😉👍
Thanks Ricardo. We did do some testing between Sealed (all ports plugged), Extended (one port plugged) and Ported (all ports open). We preferred all ports open. The sealed sounded more controlled but had noticeably less output.
Just purchased 2 SB 16 Ultra's with B&W 702 S2 series speakers and surrounds. For Inferno, I had to set each sub's level at -16dB. I wanted the PB16's but my tech talked me out of them claiming with the B&W 700 series speakers being ported, the SB16's were a better fit. I'm questioning that now. Room is 26x26 but moving and new space is open concept. Thoughts?
26 x 26 is a massive room. I reviewed dual SB16’s and they left me wanting more for movies so I bought dual PB16’s. They served me well until upgrading to my end game subs, JTR Captivator RS2’s
What do you Think you should have chosen in smaller room like 1500 Cubic feet..? Sb or ported..? Pb16 ultra or pb4000..?
Currently running 2 pb2000 in around 1500 Cubic feet room.
But my Curiosity if I should upgrade is here but dont now if it is worth it in my small room and if i should upgrade and what i should go with..?
99% movie watching.
Great work your doing love your videos..:-)
My room is 13' x 19' with 10' ceiling (2470 cubic feet) and the PB-16 pressurize the room very nicely. They would be completely overkill in a 1500 cubic feet room. The PB4000 would be plenty for that size room. The PB13 would also be a great sub - www.kqzyfj.com/click-8757800-12940222?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.svsound.com%2Fproducts%2Fpb13-ultra&cjsku=3280980675
Youthman
Hi i live in Sweden and they dont sell the pb13-ultra here any more..:-( so have to be the pb4000. What do you Think of ported vs seald in my room if i schould go for the 4000..?
I have only heard Dual SB16 vs Dual PB16 and I LOVE the PB16. Lots more output. It just blows my screen so it might not be a good fit for my room
Youthman
Ok
Ceep up the Good work..:-)..
Thank you kindly
Now i´m realy fixed man! :)
Great video!
Greetings from Germany.
Hi Florian! It’s great to connect with people all over the world!
How much cost ??
You should get a couple jtr cap 1400’s to compare to the pb16’s. Would be s great comparison.
I agree but I have not heard back from JTR I have reached out to them twice
That is a beautiful beast
For sure
@youthMan Have you had a chance to try the Klipsch r-115sw? I'd like to hear a review on them 😊😁
I actually have a pair in for review as we speak. I have to get over laryngitis and then make the Parasound HINT6 Review, then I’ll be unboxing / overview of the R-115SW and several videos on the new Reference Premiere speakers
@@Youthman oh cool, I'm glad to hear it I'm thinking about upgrading from my r-120SW to them in the near future. Seems like it's a better budget speaker for me than the SVS considering my room size. And you have an amazing home theater hope I can catch up to you one day lol 😂
Yeah I’m hoping it’s is a great bang for your buck but we shall see
