HUNTING HOGS ON THE BEACH! (Public Land Archery Hunt)

  • This is a public land hunt for feral hogs that are roaming the beach of a lake with low water levels. I've drawn a hunting tag for an area that is archery only, with a NO baiting restriction, making this a spot and stalk bow hunt that requires some fast footwork!

Anyone should know that a two sided broadhead with a single bevel on each side is the most effective. Nothing else compares. The study was done years ago and hasn't changed.

Just a tip, drag animals by head/neck. Much easier as all the hair and fur lays the rear. Dragging it from the rear creates more drag

Nice choice of broadhead sir. Structural integrity is most important. Good choice. High quality steel, and sharp as all get out. Pair that with a nice FOC and you can't go wrong.

Hey lakeforkguy about 5 years ago I was in a archery shop and they sold High Country arrows. These days they are hard to find and pretty expensive. Took my bow from 260 fps to 300. 5.5 grains per inch but super solid. Little to no archers paradox. They ain't paying me a dime but I feel like their arrows are a hidden gem. It was a little archery shop in New Waverly tx. I use to hunt alot in Huntsville on Sam Houston public property. You should check them arrows out.

Can you carry a sidearm while archery hunting? During archery season here in Florida we can carry a sidearm for reasons like that wild hog charging toward you. Once during archery season, I had to pull my 45 and shoot a wild boar that was charging toward me. And I can tell you it isn't easy to place a good shot on one with a handgun while they are running straight at you, I fired 5 rounds before he changed directions and ran away from me about 60 yards and fell dead, and when I checked him to see where the shots hit him I only found what I believe was 1 of the 5 shots hit him, It grazed the top right side of his head and then entered right beside his spine where the neck meets the front section of his shoulder. I was in a wide-open area where the closet trees were about 80 yards from me, so I'm glad I had my 45 because he was out to get me for sure.

I frequent that area a lot during the spring fly fishing for sandies and jigging for crappie. All up and down the creek and around that same portion of the lake shore. I’m surprised I haven’t run into you yet. LOL
If you want to get serious about those pigs I know some great spots on down the creek…
Don’t know why I’ve forgotten to pull a permit myself this year.
You’ve come extremely close to a few of my favorite spots in Colorado too, where you first elk hunted and take the family. Funny thing, the first solo elk hunt vid you posted, I knew exactly what mountain and valley you were overlooking. That’s my heaven on earth, that valley. Been going there for almost forty years.

Tracking tip...take a roll of toilet paper with you and place a square wherever you find blood as you are tracking so you can see the last spot you found and use peroxide in a spray/misting bottle and spray the ground to find small specs of blood because it will foam(black light or UV light makes it easier to see)
