They've come out and said yeah. We kind of knew this was going to be a problem.... Well if you knew it was going to be a problem and you took no action. You intended this train wreck to happen... I get the power fantasy of wanting people to feel like they could do these awesome combos and feel the rush but they have to do it to someone else and for everyone doing the dunking there is someone getting dunked on
Except they didn't and were planning to let it be played because of some sort of 'journey of discovery' which would have left 90% of the player base disgruntled.
Definitely one of the best companies doing banned and restricted announcements in the industry. They always strive to clearly communicate their thought process and I agree this time it was a bit silly I think they went maybe a bit too hard with the DMs included xD

They messed up a bit with the timing. They could have announced this 2 weeks earlier. If they caught it 6 months ago, it was guaranteed that players would find it as soon as all the spoilers are out. But still, this ban is good, and I am glad to see it happen before the deck becomes a problem.

I like your psychic tier list from your last video :) I think this per-emptive ban is a good thing and shows that LSS is getting smarter about trying to ensure there aren't some miserable RTN/PQ experiences, as that's where new players are likely to end up after Armories. Ira will still be quite good, so no issues there. I do like that they did include the time-stamped texts, I think it was so they could prove they knew about this after missing Bonds Zen XD so good on them. Needle Zen in blitz still going to be wild. JW gonna have to release another apology video to Zen lovers and push the LL points to 1500 after he speedruns in 2 weeks again.

Guardians are going to need some cards with go again in order to keep up with the damage these go wide heroes are able to put out, or at least a damage buff.
Now it's actually somewhat on-rate. Ira's baseline is 2 card 8. One more card is 3 card 11, one more card is 4 card 14. This is 4 card 15, but it's 4 mana, so you must take into account the Chest that generates the 1 point of value. The cards themselves are on-rate, there are just Ira and Chest generating 1 value each. Much better than previously when there was a whole other set of +3 on top of it, times three. Through the course of the game, the change accumulates 9 HP difference.

No Blitz bans was a huge miss. I don't have words to not make it sound like a rant - but Benji is absolutely insane with these new tricks, it's nearly impossible to keep him off mask and the damage output is crazy. Also Toxicity with ASC is busted - but that's another issue. C'mon boys, support Blitz!
The mentality of not banning clearly busted things because tournaments are far away completely ignores the power that casual pods and local scenes have to carry the new player experience. Another decision from LSS that seems to indicate they operate with the competitive mindset in detriment to a more casual one. A game can't survive without attracting new players and keeping them.
They didn’t even give this deck a chance to play a single Armory. Kind of crazy how fast LSS was with the ban. Many other games would have taken months to fix this. I guess a perk of being a smaller company makes them nimble enough to deal with these things.
This ban is good overall-the deck was way too strong-but the B&R announcement reveals internal discussions from August 2024, five months ago. If they were already planning to ban something, they should have acted sooner, ideally before the full card set was spoiled. That way, people wouldn’t have rushed to buy all the new hype cards. Waiting until after the set was completely spoiled to ban Needle feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit frustrating. It just doesn’t sit right.
It was a good call to ban before memphis. I don't want some needle nonsense flying at my face. The sequence doesn't take much brain power, and it becomes annoying to deal with if you're against it. Blitz needs this ban too.
I just don't understand why talent heroes also get access to generics. Talented heroes get rewarded for having access to talents AND the generic pool. If anything, access to generic cards should be removed from heroes who have talents. And should only be allowed in non talent heroes pools, including generic equipment.
I've been trying to build/test a new format called "Adapt/Adept" It's an LL format where access to generics are removed from talent heroes and are only allowed in talent-less hero pools. I still need to work on the ban list but I think a combination of CC and LL ban list makes the most sense.
Not sure how zephyr needle is the problem when before HNT, Ira isn't really even competitive, but after HNT, she's broken. Retrieve as a mechanic seems to me to be way more toxic than zephyr needle ever was. I dislike the trend of designing pushed new cards and claiming older cards are the problem.
