OMG this was so, so awesome...I watch many skating videos just to get myself back in it and struggled with watching, but this, awww this is it, thanks so much.
Hi Tony, a shout out from just outside Toronto, Canada. Great instructional video and easily followed. Keep up the great work. I enjoy watching all of your roller skating tutorials. Heading to Florida this winter to enjoy some great southern roller skating hospitality.
Tony, Thanks! Just started skating again after 30 years. Was surprised to see how skating has advanced. Jam and shuffling didn't exist back in the day. Could you show some instructions on shuffle skating?
Sean Ghoens There are roller skating rinks where the floors are not made of wood? o_O What are they made out of? P.S. There was a rink in Gastonia too, but apparently they're getting rid of that one as well. :(
Hi Tony, I looking to purchase a pair of quad skate but don't know what brand to buy can you tell me what brand skates to buy and where can I purchase them that will give me a smooth feeling when I'm skating with them that's much.
I've had my Vanilla's for a few years of skating, but the collars (part around your ankle) have stretched and I can't get them to stay tight. Also, they skuff up really bad, so get black. The split tongue is great, but Riedell has been in the biz much longer. As far as being 'smoothe', you should go with a ceramic bearing and get a wheel that matches your weight. You'll have to break them in at first (very slippery) but once you do, they'll be great. But, weight is everything! Too soft a wheel and you'll be eating floor as the wheels go out of round and kinda break on you. Also it does depend on what type of skating you're going to be doing.
Riedell has great skates. Beginner skates are the 120. You can get bones bearings and something like Riva Radar wheels, which are 96A. This setup will run you about $300. Because I'm more experienced, I have the 220s with the super deluxe plate, bones swiss bearings and All American Plus wheels(inside back wheels on both skates are Fomacs). The wheels are slippery but allow you to spin better. My trucks are looser for better maneuverability. This set up is about $800. I also have a pair of Edea Classica boots with the Roll Line Dance plate, same wheels and bearings. The boot and plate are professional grade. The setup ran about $1100. Once you've skated in the higher end setups, you'll see the difference. They also last forever.
I usually use 33 × 57. I personally use slicker wheels like Fomacs or All American Plus wheels for easier spinning and less exertion when doing moves. Just have to get used to the slide.
Stl Cutlass there are three main kind; Ridell, Chicago's ......I forget the oher All are good brands and it also depends on the style of skating you will be doing. If you have any questions fell free to hit me up on my e-mail
Specific skates, plate and wheel setups are for certain types of skating. You wouldn't use 103A wheels for speed skating, nor would you use a Riedell boot for artistic, although some may try it.
Dude, love it. Hope you loosen up a bit more in your delivery over time in these videos; you're a bit stiff. But, at the end of the video, we get to see a bit of 'you' and the type of people who are skaters. Great beginners video!
+bitchesaintshit buthoesntricks well a gym flr is different from wood skate flr there totally not the same and yes a gym flr is slippery cause of what type of flr it is
Cool Cucumber Obviously he doesn’t have any...😂 You’re able to buy roller skates without the toe stops and you can stop without toe stops, so that shouldn’t be a problem for him😉
What can I say? None of this has anything to do with "Jam Skating." The music is not jam skating, the moves are not jam skating moves. This is just a total misrepresentation of Chicago's JB Skating. I dont usually waste my time on posts, but this is just a horrible case of misrepresentation. You should be ashamed of yourself to put this on UA-cam.
God bless you jrob1277. Hey thanks for your comments. But please notice that the caption is basic skate moves! It was to help people get started with skating. If I wanted to put up a lesson on JB I would have labeled it JB. Oh! by the way JB skating is named that because they like to use James Brown music (JB) Get it! Any stay safe rolling and have fun, there are more styles than JB. Myself, I'm a "skater" I do all styles and I respect all styles!
Tony, thanks so much as a new adult skater I do very much appreciate your efforts. Excellent job of keeping it basic, simple and straightforward.

I've been skating for over 40 years. This video is the best I've seen that explains skating for beginners; the best! Great Job, Tony!
I'm so glad I stumbled across this video! He makes it so simple 👌🏾👌🏾
OMG this was so, so awesome...I watch many skating videos just to get myself back in it and struggled with watching, but this, awww this is it, thanks so much.
"SEEYA" holds up peace signs then slowly rolls away lol
"See Ya"...
Then Slops his Trousers...
Best ending! Made me laugh 😂
the song is a mix from Keezo Kane called Ga Ga!
THANK YOU!!!
Still a dope mix!
I think I could handle the first 2 moves, as long as I was on the carpet.
LOL
Yes and also had something to hold Onto 😂
Very well spoken, great video brother. 👍👍👍
Hi Tony, a shout out from just outside Toronto, Canada. Great instructional video and easily followed. Keep up the great work. I enjoy watching all of your roller skating tutorials. Heading to Florida this winter to enjoy some great southern roller skating hospitality.
I like how you start with very simple and basic moves that even somewhat of a beginner could try.
"SEE YA✌🏽"
me leaving a potentially toxic relationship and or environment.
🤣
teejlod this is Tony from the video, the song is a mix song from Keezo Kane called Ga Ga

What happened why did you guys close....would like to figure out something, to get this place back open.
What's up Sean? It's sad but Wal-mart bought the land and making it a Neighborhood Fresh Mart. Feel free to join us at some of the other rinks around
I've gone to Rock Hill floors wood. but good.
Sean Ghoens There are roller skating rinks where the floors are not made of wood? o_O
What are they made out of?
P.S. There was a rink in Gastonia too, but apparently they're getting rid of that one as well. :(
The one near me is basically really smooth concrete!
OMG THAT LOOKS SO COOL 😱
Tony this is great, did not know this is on the Tube...what music piece is this
Great video, but can someone tell me the song and artist in the background? It’s driving me. LOL. I hear it in every rink I go too.
Tony the CLT legend!
Yeassss he is!
hey man, can you tell me the name of the first song that was played on the video. my fav song to skate to.
Hey TheBranden346 the song is Ga GA a mix from Keezo Kane, this is Tony from the instructions
What is the name of this song
Thank you Tony!
Hey Kirk, Thanks! I try to keep it simple until one starts to catch on. God gave it to me so I try and give it back.
your videos are great. thanks so much
Is this rink related to the Starlite rink in Lavale Md.? Or Starlite in Somerset Pa? Geary family?
This was Starlight Rink in Charlotte, NC. It is now closed.
Hi Tony, I looking to purchase a pair of quad skate but don't know what brand to buy can you tell me what brand skates to buy and where can I purchase them that will give me a smooth feeling when I'm skating with them that's much.
Stl Cutlass I suggest vnla skates. They are a great quality and stylish brand of skates. But they are quite expensive. Mine were 200

My question is.....can you do this on roller blades
Hello Tony: great video!
What size wheels do you use for Rhythmic skating? I'm using Atom Omega but these may be too large? 35cm wide x 65cm diameter.
I usually use 33 × 57. I personally use slicker wheels like Fomacs or All American Plus wheels for easier spinning and less exertion when doing moves. Just have to get used to the slide.
Is this rink still open in Charlotte
?
No I wish it was
I wish I had known about this rink and your lessons when it was still open. :(
Will you be teaching anywhere else in the Carolinas any time soon?
Stl Cutlass there are three main kind; Ridell, Chicago's ......I forget the oher All are good brands and it also depends on the style of skating you will be doing. If you have any questions fell free to hit me up on my e-mail

Specific skates, plate and wheel setups are for certain types of skating. You wouldn't use 103A wheels for speed skating, nor would you use a Riedell boot for artistic, although some may try it.

When I saw basic tutorials I thought it would be basic and not mindless brainless talentless side stepping
Well, there are other videos out. Better yet, since you seem to know so much, you put up something to teach us all.
Lol this is so old, but i like it
Tony, I love you.
