Wow ... the progress in just 2 months is phenomenal, you must be really pleased. All that new growth looks very healthy too. 👍🏽

Thanks, Dom. Yeah, I'm very pleased it made it, I was a bit worried at first that the roots weren't in a good state. Thankfully Brett reassured me that they were normal. It still surprises me that the healthy roots on persimmons look like rotten roots on a lot of other plants.

Lovely grafted Persimmon tree Peter. Great to see it’s now actively pushing healthy growth.
I’m intrigued to see what the fruit will look like 😀🌱

I can’t wait to see what the fruits look like in the future, Joe!

The gardening express plant is looking great Peter , no need to have been concerned 😉. In fact the roots will only just be getting going so it should grow a lot more. Frankly persimmons thrive on heat which we've been sorely lacking this summer until this week 🤪

Haha, thanks Brett 😂. Of course, at the time of recording, I wasn't aware that the black roots were healthy, lol. Yeah, it's definitely going to spend quite a bit of time and energy developing its roots first; I guess it did have a very small rootball to begin with compared to that big thick stem. Yeah, heat has really been lacking this summer and we've only had a couple of days in the low to mid-20s here recently. Looks like we will be cooler again most of next week only getting up to 23°C on one day and most days struggling to get past 20/21°C 🙄

Look great Peter and relatively fast growing. I have one fruiting Persimmon tree, but unfortunately cannot get anymore due to lack of space.

Thanks, Mike. Yeah, it seems to be doing pretty well so far. I guess it would prefer it to be warmer to really get it going, but I'm happy it's progressing well 👍
I really don't have space for any more to be honest lol. I'll just have to find somewhere to squeeze in the new ones I ordered when they arrive lol 😂. At least they don't need winter protection, so can just be left outside.

They are both looking so good. It will be exciting to see what cultivar they are when they fruit. Did the new one sit waiting for you in a box for weeks or did it just arrive a few days before you got back? Random question😆🙈

Thanks, Dani! Yeah, it will be exciting to find out what they are eventually. So, I was about to go away when I ordered it so I had it delivered to my brother's house. I didn't want to risk missing out on it as they were trying to sell them off cheaply as it was the end of spring. I told him to keep it in his shed to keep it dark and hopefully cool so it wouldn't start trying to grow. Thankfully it seems to have made it ok 👍

@@PeterEntwistlethat's amazing - and really shows I don't need to stress about planting trees or plants when they arrive...at least not when they are bare roots 😁

@@backyardsnackyard yes, I think as long as the roots are kept moist and the plant is kept cool and in the dark, they can last a while 🙌

Persimmon is a strange fruit rarely grown in UK

Yeah, they are rarely grown in the UK. It's another of those plants that are hardy enough to survive winters, but ideally need more heat than we get in our summers. Hopefully, someday I manage to get some fruits to try 🤞
