- 1933 witnessed one of the most active Atlantic hurricane seasons of the pre-satellite era, and it remains one of the busiest ever recorded in the basin. Out of the twenty tropical storms that formed during this season, six became major hurricanes, all of which eventually went on to affect the United States, Mexico, Cuba, and the Bahamas.
Coming nearly a decade after the original release, Force Thirteen's second iteration of this animation accounts for NOAA's 2013 reanalysis of the season and the addition of three tropical depressions by Force Thirteen's own reanalysis project.

If I remember right, Hurricanes 11 and 14 in 1933 are the only time 2 major hurricanes made landfall in the US within 24 hours of each other

This thing you do with a big name and a smaller name near the storm icon, you could do the same with typhoons. Like, the international name as the larger one and a smaller filipino name under the larger. (Example: "Surigae" with a smaller "Bising" under the name)

1933 was the most active season on record before 2005 and 2020 came along.

Force Thirteen you must animate 1991 WPAC - it featured Yuri, which was a Dvorak T8.0 and Mireille, which is the costliest typhoon ever

Míreille isn’t the costliest typhoon ever.... unless adjusted for inflation, the costliest typhoon not adjusted for inflation is Hagibis, not Mireille

@Super Typhoon Nancy The F13 analyst team found that Wilma went into an eyewall replacement cycle too soon after recon found 175 mph winds inside the storm to be any more than 180 mph at peak, in strand of the official 185. I agree with this change personally.

That almost happened twice in 2004 with a tropical storm and hurricane Charley, again with Ivan and Jeanne in that same year.

An extremely active Atlantic hurricane season that featured highest accumulated cyclone energy in an Atlantic hurricane season along with the most tropical storms at the time: 20. Eleven tropical cyclones became hurricanes, six hurricanes reached category 3 or higher intensity, well above the long term average for even 1991 to 2020. Two of the major hurricanes attained category 5 status.

@@matthewmiller7207 Interesting...I follow the Chinese Zodiac too a lot (I'm Korean and part Manchurian so it's a cultural thing) and it seems like Monkey and Rooster years tend to be the absolute worst. Also, it seems like Horse and Bull years tend to be the tamest (although 2021 is a Bull year and we're expected to be active)
2016 was a Monkey year, but had Matthew.
I'd like to think that since 2020 is similar to 1932 with category 5s in november, it could mean that 2021 will be similar to 1933 to break the record of most ACE. We will never know

This season has to have the most landfalls in one season...(US AND ENTIRE ATLANTIC) it just kept going and going
The US record for most landfalls was shattered last year in 2020. With 11 or 12 (I forgot) landfalls in the US
