Excellent video on Sri Krishna Vilas in CBE.Up to 1986 this was a humble tiled roof one small hall at this same spot. I have taken vadai and hot filter coffee here. Coffee was 25 paise then. I have also taken food in the present premises in 2000 to 2006 period. In 1968 I stayed in rented room in Raghuprakash building next to Gita Hotel in Gopalapuram. There was a MITHRA SAMAJ meals hotel at the place where SRI Krishna Vilas stands now. That was run by Gita Hotel management I think. Rs 89 for unlimited meal is a great offer.
நீங்கள் சொல்லுவது தவறு எனநினைகிறேன். அந்த காலத்தில் ரெயில்வே நிலையம் எதிரில் RHR , ரஞ்சித விலாஸ் , CS ஹோட்டல், போஸ்ட் ஆபிஸ் ரோடில் மித்ர சமாஜ், அடுத்து கிருஷ்ண பவன்.( இப்பொழுது கிருஷ்ண விலாஸ்) ஆனால் இதில் எதுவுமே உடுப்பி ஹோட்டல் கிடையாது எல்லாமே பாலக்காடு அய்யர் ஹோட்டல்கள். அந்த காலத்தில் மதியம் , மெது பக்கோடா,ரவா ரோஸ்ட், கிச்சடி இவை மிகவும் பிரபலம்.ஓடு போட்ட வீடுதான் இருந்தது. இதெல்லாம் கேள்வி.மிகவும் சிறிய வயதில் போயிருக்கிறேன். .

Just to add. This place was in a tiled roof building and they are famous for their Dosas. I am talking of more than 50years. A GREAT PLACE. They are quite, humble and matchless with their Dosa. Since they are near the Coimbatore court, you get tiffin at Lunch time and see a good crowd there. Wish them the best.

Memory goes back 50 years In the evening they make Wheat Halwa n Rava Roast Mouth watering taste. It was a tiled roof then and they serve the food in a dried stiched leaf.
Hats off to that hotel all are very good. In tamilnadu it is rare to see pure vegetarian hotels. Sir please make video like this pure vegetarian hotels.

I like to mix keerai kootu with rice too and I also like keerai kootu with rasam rice. May be payasam would be better with that meal than kesari. I would drink a full tumbler of buttermilk after that meal. Nothing can be more refreshing..

I remember eating a meal like in a restaurant in Karaikal. it was awesome and I still remember that meal after many years.
Keerai and rice is CBE favorite I think. Myself and my friends like that too. So, possibly we can call it CBE signature dish.
Manoj when I was studying in college (in1965) I used to eat Tiffin regularly in Krishna Vilas.Rava dosa was their signature item.Cost of Rava dosage was less than 50 paise.The building of the hotel was an old tamil stylehouse(Thotti Kattu veedu).It was a very busy hotel with lot of customers from morning to night.

Hi Manoj. We were regular visitors here a couple of years ago till the time we were in Coimbatore... Earlier AN meals used to have extensive crowd from Collector office and other govt offices. After renovation, lunch and tiffin became so popular. can still remember all the waiters and of course Chandru .. good cbe days....

Many hotels of high repute in CBE give very nice tiffin n good. Nothing to beat glass pieces like onion dosai of Anna poorna n gowri shankar with beautiful chatni n sambar
. I have visited from the tiled Krishna Vilas time. Kichidi famous.all items are of good quality..taste and reasonable price. The owners are very pious and humble. The waiters are respecteous. We even get mini coffee which is rare in CBE. SKV is a good - standard family hotel.

Roast, Masal Roast uthappam , poori, meals super.
Meals quantity with two side dishes appalam thayir sweet, all are tasty.
Once during 90s, butter naan, romali roti with mixed veg curry, side dishes include Gobi masala peas masala etc.
Once one of our neighbour from Bengal told that the tandoori items prepared here were on par with taste of Annapoorna.
