I put my skillet in the hot oven while i prepare the cornbread. When you pour the mixture into the skillet to bake...early heating of pan cause sizzling while being poured and gives a better crust on the bottom😍
Just like I make it. The only thing different is. I put a pound of fried hamburger meat. When I make it for my beans. It is good enough to eat by itself. I have been know to eat a half pan of it. So so good
When I fix “ Mexican “ cornbread, I use my salsa….. which ever I have( mild or medium) . I love it with white beans of some kind .🤤🤤🤤 May need to try this .
Girl, this to me is sho nuff Mexican cornbread. It looks delicious. I thought for a minute that those jalapeños got to you! It looked like you needed to cough. I know I would have. Thanks for sharing this recipe and for doing a video of each step.
I have been living out in Houston Texas I gosh I'm a 50 years originally from Rome Georgia they do cook differently out here we deep Southerners are better Cooks on the grill everything and I will say that but when it comes to Mexican food you want to know Mexicans I'm talking to people that come from the border Town that's where you really learn how to make good Mexican food I met this RN God years ago and they had the best Spanish rice it was in the board town across from Laredo Texas I can't pronounce it more to tell every Mexico and I was on that rustic ranch for 2 weeks it oh God we had a ball and those women cooked all the time they wouldn't let me do nothing except they will love my homemade biscuits and so I wanted to know how to make Mexican cornbread I wanted to know how to make good authentic Spanish rice because the rice you getting restaurants that that's slop that ain't Mexican rice at all you go to the border Town you get real authentic Spanish rice and so I learned a lot of recipes and we both were much better off for it and as a matter of fact I'm doing butter beans today the large butter beans and I'm going to prepare some Mexican cornbread with Mexican cornbread you don't need nothing else you can just eat that itself but that just with the big large line of things out on that with iced tea banana pudding for dessert yeah that works and with jalapeno peppers yeah that works. I love watching Tammy I get a lot of good ideas from her.
I love your hair today..it looks soo good! I also love Mexican Cornbread...I love it by itself or with Pinto Beans or Charro Beans, I really could eat cornbread at every meal...thanks for sharing Tammy..you and Chris make my day..love ya ..Debra
Hi Tammy! My husband Jeff is gonna love you for teaching me how to make Mexican Cornbread!! I just love you guys and your show. Thank you for making this show!!
Im sitting here watching from my hospital room wishing I was home cooking this cornbread,I'm hungry for some good ole home cooked cornbread. Thank you tammy&chris.im definitely making this when get home. GOD bless my mouth is watering 😀😉😇💟
Who doesn’t love a good Southern cornbread like this! If you live down south and don’t like corn bread, then move up north 😝 Makes me think of grits and cheese. Also a love or hate food item for people that live down south and live up north haha Good video!
I use chopped green chilies instead of jalapeños as I cannot tolerate the heat. This looks so good. I used to put the iron skillet to heat in the oven while I made the mix, it made a crusty bottom. I cannot lift these iron skillets anymore, too heavy for me now. 😀❤️
Thank you Nana for sharing this recipe with your family, and now they've shared it with us, like good Christians do ❤️✝️🌄 And we're gonna be makin' some real soon here! Honest to goodness we are. GOD bless Y'All, much love, Maranatha ☝️✝️🌄 Walter and Deeana and Randie 🤟
Hi Tammy & Chris! We've enjoyed this recipe so many times! Almost a meal in itself but my crew has especially enjoyed it with chili, a variety of soups and stews during cool weather and with a variety of salads during warmer weather! Thank you both so much for this demo of a delish recipe and for another video!! 😊
I’m definitely gonna have to try this-I have tried making Mexican cornbread I don’t know how many times, and it seems I’m rarely successful, so I’ll try one more time with your recipe! I loved watching the cornbread cook!!
I like how you tell folks the measurements, although I tend to just eye ball ingredients. 😊by the way Tammy and Chris my name is Tony from Michigan. I'm just a regular old Yankee man and new to these ytube videos. I enjoy Chris's channel too.❤
Gator is going to give you a recipe. Long green hot banana yellow chili orange colure fetter cheese butter whipped eggs and your bread. Australian style.🐊 Love yr channel.
I like to add cooked ground beef crumbles into the mix before cooking. Also, I use bacon grease or veg oil in the skillet and heat to smoking on the stovetop. Then put in the mix and it will bubble up and make a fantastic crust. I like to serve it with beans;)
Oh my gosh Tammy that looks so yummy!!! I love jalapenos but I guess you could always use NADA pinho's instead of jalapenos!!! Thank you so very much for sharing you are Nana's recipe with us!!! God bless you both!!!
@@CollardValleyCooks I went ahead and made it tonight and my family loved it! I've never heard my 32 year old daughter compliment me more and I'm a professional baker for Pete's sake! Lol Thank you again. This is officially a new family favorite!
Looks beautiful and so yummy. I like a hot pepper free Mexican cornbread with a bowl of homemade chili and a glass of homemade Cherry Limeade. 😋 I wonder if cracklins would be good in a Mexican cornbread. 🤔
I have been craving this with pinto beans since I saw it but no one will cook it for me and I've been busy and not wanting to go into hot kitchen. Sure is hot in central TX right now.
I know that is so very delicious. I do a recipe almost like yours, difference, I used kernel can corn, I think the can say "Niblets", and half as much oil, don't use sour cream, but after watching your I might have to do that! I like having it with pinto beans! So good.
I put my skillet in the hot oven while i prepare the cornbread. When you pour the mixture into the skillet to bake...early heating of pan cause sizzling while being poured and gives a better crust on the bottom😍
You've made me hungry.
I preheat my skillet too.
That's the way I was taught to make cornbread. Hot skillet & only cast iron. Born & bred in the South. 👍😄🇺🇸
Great info, thank you
I preheat my pan in the oven with a stick of butter. 🤤
Just like I make it. The only thing different is. I put a pound of fried hamburger meat. When I make it for my beans. It is good enough to eat by itself. I have been know to eat a half pan of it. So so good
It looks perfect except it needed to be smothered in melted butter❤❤
Thank God you cut the Veggies before the video started. hate when cooks spend like an hour showing you how to cut onions lol looks good
Yummy! I don’t do jalapeños, so I use mild green chilis
When I fix “ Mexican “ cornbread, I use my salsa….. which ever I have( mild or medium) . I love it with white beans of some kind .🤤🤤🤤

Been awful hard getting ahold of White Lily self rising flour AND cornmeal lately.
I usually make Mexican cornbread with fresh Jalapenos from my garden but I think I'll try the jar ones until my peppers get big enough! Yum! 😍

A delicious meal all in itself! Fresh Jalapeno is best 😋
Looks absolutely delicious Tammy .. I have ur vol 1cookbook so I’ll have to try this ... love ya ♥️♥️🥰🥰
I guess one could use a can of rotel instead of jalapeños?
Sure!
Look very delicious 🤤 😋 I love different kind cornbread
This looks so delicious! I don’t like sour cream. So I might use some cottage cheese as a substitute.
sour cream makes everything better, it's food of the gods. Try yogurt.
Ohhhhhhhhhh………YUM!!!! Love Mexican cornbread! 😃
This looks soooooo good. I am going to use Ortega chilies instead. They add great flavor, and no heat.
Wow! Mexican cornbread looks so delicious and I'm going to try to make it ! Thanks Tammy and 😋Chris😋
Miss Ruby
I was wondering how this would taste with a dab of strawberry jam and a cold glass of milk. Sorta like the pepper jelly twist
Looks gorgeous. I'm going to try this one.
When I make this, I will try it with jalapeño jelly !

I have been craving this with pinto beans since I saw it but no one will cook it for me and I've been busy and not wanting to go into hot kitchen. Sure is hot in central TX right now.
I could eat that whole skillet with a good bowl of stew.
Now if you had a bowl of pinto beans and onions
Looks real yummy mrs. Tammy i love Mexican corn bread i think I will love mine with a pot of turnip greens 😋👍🏽❤
You could also use green chilies for a milder flalvor.
No onion, or bell pepper
I'm sure it's delicious but I can't use jalapeno but I will try it for our church event
LOVE cornbread, I am going to make a small one of these later.
