And : - "46:50" = The "The Cheaper They Are - The Better It Works" Brush (a quote of yours from the glorious "Teal Bay" episode....) : - My Dad, a now retired aerospace engineer, used to bring them home in bundles from work - or, steal them from work to be more precise/honest?! - They were solely used for applying adhesives only to the joints of aircraft wings and other "weatherproofed" areas. But, great for all-round/rough brush jobs at home - where you knew you were going to ruin it doing the job (stabbing paint into cracks etc. etc.). He only ever called them "Fitch" brushes - I have no idea why, but, knowing my Dad was a skilled airframe fitter : took his word for it, and, i'll never call them anything else!. Bye Chuck.
Yes 😂 true, the cheaper for this kind of thing - the better! The more expensive ones would have a softer, more organised hairs so it will be harder to create that effect.
@@Valentina-Steinway The ones you probably see me use the most in the watercolour tutorials: quill mop for watery washes, round sable for painting objects and details of all sorts and a thin, long liner brush for fine, long organic lines and brunches 😊 I actually spotted another new brush that seems really cool in the art shop the other day it's a mix of a mop and a liner, it's quite expensive so I'll have to save up. I'll make a video when I get it ❤
@@LeilaAtaya - thank you so much! Please share the new brush when you get it! I’m obsessed with brushes! Every brush I get is better than the previous one lol 😂 Are you on instagram?
Such a cool video! struck a nice balance of being educational but easy to follow. I've been painting for years but some of these are new to me. What you say about picking that one special brush (I call it bestie brush!) Is so true!
@@LeilaAtaya Exactly! Have you heard of Alexandra Dillon? She goes a whole other level and paints faces onto her brushes - It's true you can do anything with a brush haha
@@InkPen-f1b Yes I've seen those before :D i love seeing when objects that are used to create art become art. There are really cool carvings made out of pencils as well 🩷
Another great tutorial video Leila... You're the best! Slowly but surely I'm learning from you. Hope all is well down there in Kiwi land... Thanks for all your expertise.
Hey Flower : - Doing alright down there I hope...... In the depths of a Kiwi winter??!. Great to see/hear you go through your "arsenal" of artistic weapons - Like most of your uploads, I - even as a non-artist - learnt some interesting facts. My favourite brushes of yours are the tiny Sceptre II acrylic-use ones : - It's like watching a neuro-surgeon doing precision scalpel work?, when you're finishing a piece/commision..... That you've been kind enough to film the process of, and allow us to witness happen. I watch the "Princess Of The Lake" upload maybe once a month? : - Just to remind me what a human is capable of artisticly, **It's Very Special To Me To Experience** (I even like the music too!). Cheers Leila - Great to have you on here..... Nick. P.S : - "Vegan" brushes? - They probably taste better than vegan "burgers" (??!). x
Yes that's what many synthetic brushes are marketed as these days 'vegan' . I started seeing 'vegan leather' instead of 'plastic' or 'man made' leather, although there are some that are truly vegan and made out of mushrooms or mangoes. There's even vegan horse riding now - something I came across recently on YT 😆
This was very very informative. Thank you ❤. I have been looking for years what to use the silicone tools for. My favorite is also a sable nr 8 of all my many different ones. But now I want to try out a Hake. 🎉 playtime.
Since filming the video I bought a larger one, I had a large hake but I must have lost it when I was moving. They are very inexpensive as well 😊 I focused in the video on paint application but you can also use silicone tip for applying the masking fluid - makes clean up much easier 😉
