Thank you for sharing. I have done that exact move from CA to FL to CA and now trying to decide if I want to go back to FL. Yes. Everything is different and there are pros and cons and fears of being alone. Moving, especially cross country is no joke. Very hard and rewarding too.

I moved from California to Palm Coast in September. Prior to that i have always lived in the Central Valley - grew up in Oakdale, high school in Mariposa, then lived in Merced and up north near Chico. As I got older I got more tired of the poor air quality in the valley and the wildfire smoke most summers. A good friend who lives here encouraged me to check Florida out and after my elderly Mom passed a few years ago i really didnt have a strong reason to stay anymore (never married, no kids). I've just retired and wanted to have a little adventure and as you said there is so much to do in Florida compared to the Valley. I do get a bit homesick since its so early in my settling here. Its hard to explain the way it feels driving through the almond, walnut and peach orchards and smelling the canneries processing tomatoes in the summer back home. I'll always feel connected to the Central Valley. That said I love being only 15 minutes from the beach and having a brand new home in an oceanside community that didn't cost as much as a similar new home in Chico or Merced. Plus that fresh clean air every day! So yeah, looking forward to getting established and exploring my new home! Its a little harder making friends solo, but it'll happen. Oh the only thing i really miss is the good Mexican food in California! Little family run taquerias everywhere. Mexican food in Florida kind of sucks by comparison. 😂
There is NO. WAY. You just said you’re from Oakdale. I’m from Oakdale!!!!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 WHAT?!?!?!????!? What are the odds?!?!? I then moved to Turlock! My husband went to college in Merced. Your entire message is so relatable to me! The #1 thing I missed at first other than family and friends was west coast food! I have now found good Mexican food here where we live, but it’s still never the same as California. I know what you mean about feeling connected to the valley, when I go back I’m flooded with so many strange emotions. A lot of it feels like a warm hug, and it will always feel like “back home”.❤️ But, it doesn’t feel like where I’m supposed to be anymore. The air quality there is not something I miss at all. My husband’s allergies have completely gone away since being here. Thank you so much for your comments and congratulations on your move. I know the struggle of not knowing anyone at first, and I hope you’re able to find those connections like we have!
Living in miami since 2015, has changed a lot ! Fl has become very very expensive people !! Do your homework !! I lived in. CA never liked it , we love miami , love the beach , but the cost of living has increased a lot !!!we have the worst drivers!! Car insurance very expensive, salaries never increased !!! And I’m an RN making decent money and it is not enough !! We pay for 1 bed $2,750!! Luxury condo not in the beach of course otherwise we will pay more than $4000!! We will probably move to another state and come here as a much as we want but living in Fl has become very difficult !! And the job market if you are not in the healthcare good luck

Aw, thank you for sharing! I totally relate about the playground this time of year 😂 it’s way too hot to be out there! We notice everyone spends time outside and at playgrounds about October-May. I guess some could say you pick your poison lol, states up north are hiding from snow for that length of time. But I can see what you mean about having a hard time adjusting! Which part of California did you come from? We are from the Central Valley. If we were from some coastal town or SoCal, I’m not sure we’d ever leave California. My husband and I are moving to Port Saint Lucie Florida in two and a half years closer to my fil.I love the people in his culdasac, but I'm not going to lie I also have fear of not being able to see my children as much. Selfishly would love them closer however, their jobs require more larger cities. I would definitely trust you as a travel agent simply because you are a honest person. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your video. I’m in the midst of packing right now and was looking for some packing motivation. We are moving from the Central Valley (Tracy area) to Land o lakes area! It was so refreshing to hear your take on how the move has been for you. My husband and I have a 5 & 3 year old and have been talking about the move for over a year and it’s finally happening. It’s going to be a huge adjustment but I’m so excited. We leave first week of July but our Uboxs come in two weeks 😬

We moved from CA to FL and it was astronomically worth it. CA is ruined unless you are a plutocrat and money is no object or want to maximize your welfare benefits. But even the plutocrats like Jeff Bezos have relocated to Florida. I moved my business to Florida and the profitability soared because of tax savings and also business costs are much more affordable.
Only people who’ve experienced life in California truly understand what a relief it is to get out and actually LIVE. Thank you for your comment and congratulations ❤️
What your annual homeowners insurance for your property in Fl.? I know it very high. So are property taxes... Where moving to South Carolina in about 1.5 years.
First, Welcome to Florida, and to central Florida. I truly mean that. I've lived here twenty five years. It's great here, and most want to keep it that way. Driving, yup, drivers will look at you like you're in the wrong, because you are, lol, that's the driving culture here. So most are thinking, as they zoom by you, to please learn to drive, and when they think that, it means, learn to drive here. Stay in the right lane till you do. This isn't California (yet) thank god. You spoke of being judged by moving here, I can only assume you mean from people that still live from where you moved. People will always judge, I think that's human nature, do what's right for you. Who cares what other people think. Most are scared to take a leap if faith.

My husband was fortunate enough to have a job that’s all over the US and works remotely, so I’m not completely sure how competitive it is 😖. I know FL pays way less than CA, unfortunately.

Thank you for your input! It’s important for people to hear experiences and opinions from multiple sources. We came from a not-so-glamorous area of CA, so our experiences are probably different. Our quality of life has personally immensely improved. Everything is certainly subjective. We did heavy research and moved to a gorgeous, clean, safe, friendly town in Florida. We’ve found a wonderful school. We love it. But there are parts of FL that definitely make us understand comments like yours!

We researched a ton before we chose the county we live in because we’ve heard this! We are happy with the schools here.
