Yeah I've used that stuff - it's very good. Unlike tapes it doesn't leave a hard to remove residue when you remove it and doesn't reflect sunlight. That with a hessian drape is phenomenal.
I wrap my milsurp aluminum mags with athletic tape. Use a small strip of the many different colors you can get to quickly ID the mag by ammo type, weight, brand, etc... 2¹/²ft (unstretched) per 30rd mag seems to be the sweet spot.
Mine arrived today, my airsoft m4 carbine arrives early next month and I'm gonna put some on the metal handguard, the stock and the handguard, for grip, badass points and so it's warmer to touch instead of the metal

As a medic it’s also great for splinting.
