The way you're feeling is the way you're supposed to feel. The story is brutal and doesn't shy away from the realities of war, or how it impacts the people who manage to survive. It's not meant to be a truly happy ending, only "just good enough".
“That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that”. I’m happy that Katniss got her peace with Peeta.

@@brandibastian4193 yeah. But they also waited like 15 years after the rebellion ended to have kids. Katniss said they both still have nightmares but they have each other to keep them sane. every time i see peeta in mockingjay pt1&2 i just think of him in the first one saying he doesn’t want the capitol to change him,,,, it’s so damn tragic how much these characters all go through 😭
Katniss realized that Coin was turning out to be exactly like Snow. That's why she played along with the whole "Last Hunger Games" idea and everything. Katniss knew the only way to break the cycle was to kill her, Snow was going to die regardless (whether the people did it, or his own poison). Katniss was ready to volunteer to save others, even in the end. Peeta was the only thing able to save her, which is another reason she chooses him over Gale. Loved watching your reaction to this, as always! Can't wait to see what series you do next!! My vote is for Maze Runner, similar vibes as Hunger Games!
Strangely, Finnicks death is the one that stuck with me the most. He'd been tangled up in President Snows cruelty for a decade. I wanted him to get to live his life, free of it. Instead he died horribly during a mission that ended in failure. War is full of pointless death, guess that was the point.
I can't watch or listen to that part. He's saved them so many times from Catching Fire on and when he needed it no one could save him. I literally hate that he didn't even get to be with Annie really. His death just hits me differently. Rue's is next. Prim, she was so young and Katniss only got involved in this for her. It's so sad.
@@amberreed4443 Primrose death was the least upsetting for me too, of those three. I wanted her to make it and it was so unfair for Katniss that after everything she still couldn't keep her. If memory serves (and do fact-check me on this) Suzanne Collins said that Finnick was the only character she regretted killing off. I get why she ultimately did, but _man_ does it hurt...
@@amberreed4443same..can't listen or watch Finnicks death scene. Everytime I watch reaction videos I have to turn the volume down and skip. It still devastates me years later 💔
One big detail for me from the books I wish they included was the wedding cake Peeta made for Finnick and Annie. It shows such a big part of how he is still connected to a part of himself, even though his memories have been deranged to find danger from the person he loves. And when Katniss sees the cake, she instantly knows he’s the only one who could have made it and it sparks at least some bit of hope that he’s still in there somewhere. Wish they could have added that in the film for us book readers.
I love your genuine heartfelt reactions! It’ll never get old. I think the issue with Gale was that he came up with the original plan to have a second delayed bomb when they were trying to get the workers out of the mountains ect so Katniss felt that even though he may have not made the final decision that killed Prim, it was THAT KIND OF THINKING that got her killed and so many more. I think those were actually peacekeepers that took him, but when all those children died seconds later, the capitol workers (including peacekeepers) turned on Snow, and he was released. It kills me to see some of these great people/ characters lose their lives. It’s so hard not to get attached. Sadly this is the real cost of any war. Brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers ect… gone. For what? Greed of some sort 99% of the time. Great reaction as usual!! See you next time!!
In Mockingjay Part One(and in the book), Gale suggests something like "while they(the capitol supporters) go to tend their wounded, hit them with a second bomb" and Katniss was totally against it because she still has morals. That is where Coin got the idea that ended up killing Prim and that's why Katniss decided to cut him out of her life.
The plan was Gale‘s. However, he did not know that Coin was gonna use it so those were actual Peacekeepers who took him, they wanted to kill him, and then the bombs went off and he got away
thing about district 13 is they never had to participate in the hunger games (they were supposedly non existent during that 75 years because they were bunking underground when everyone thought they were wiped off the planet by the Capitol) and Katniss settled down with her dandelion, Peeta :')
What Snow said is that he is NOT above killing children, BUT he had nothing to gain from killing the Capitol children. Meanwhile Coin achieved exactly what she wanted by doing that: The Capitol soldiers turned against Snow because they thought he really did that cruel thing. So after that exchange it's rather obvious that Coin did it, and Gale's response to Katniss asking him confirms this. I do not think the rebels had any plan to save Gale: As he's being taken, he shouts at Katniss to kill him so that he can't be tortured etc. She just might have done that, so it doesn't really make sense. The whole plan the rebels had was to end the war, no matter the cost. That's why they were ready to act dishonestly and even kill innocent children and their own in the process. Of course, for Coin the reason was hunger for power, but I don't think Gale and many of the others were evil per say: They were just deep in this "end justifies the cost" thinking. However, people like Katniss and Peeta were not, and obviously Gale lost Katniss for good there.
(Sorry, I didn't mean for this comment to turn out so long but these are my favorite books and I could talk about them forever). The books (which you would love and aren't super long) make a couple of things more clear than the movie did: Gale was actually taken by Peacekeepers and he actually did want Katniss to kill him. She was also hoping Gale would shoot her after she killed Coin and Peeta took away her nightlock pill. In the end though neither one could actually pull the metaphorical/literal trigger even after all their talk about how they would do that for each other if they were captured. Also, while Katniss talks to Snow in the gardens, after he tells her that he didn't send in the bombs he points out how odd it is that Prim was on the front lines in the first place. She'd barely started training as a doctor and was what, 13 years old? Someone very high up would have had to give the approval for someone so young and inexperienced to be one of the first medics on the scene. The assumption is that Coin didn't kill Prim accidentally as a byproduct of her being evil and dropping bombs with delayed explosions on a bunch of children, but that she killed Prim intentionally to break Katniss so she wouldn't be a threat to Coin's ascension to power. Honestly, all three of the books are full of plots and characters that couldn't make it into the movies (Katniss and Joanna living in a compartment together, Madge and Delly, etc), and we get to see much more of what Katniss was thinking and feeling because it's all from her perspective. Watching her fall in love with Peeta without even realizing it is great, and the final paragraphs of Mockingjay before the Epilogue where Katniss describes why it could only ever have been Peeta are perfect.
Gale was all about the rebellion yet wasn’t about that going to the games to protect Katniss when she went in for Prim. Peeta had a way out in the 2nd call up and volunteered in Hatmitch place. It was Gale’s plan to bomb the workers. Maybe he didn’t know Prim would be one of them but none of them volunteered to get blowed up.
Definitely looking forward to watching your reaction to the "Hunger Games" finale! 😊 This is a really good movie! However.... RIP to Finnick, Boggs, and then Prim! Those three scenes are so hard to watch. Especially Finnick's. Josh Hutcherson did a great job portraying a high jacked(brainwashed) Peeta. Fun Fact #1: Woody Harrelson improvised that kiss between Haymitch and Effie before he goes back to District 12 with Katniss. That scene after Katniss returns home, and breaks down with the cat over Prim always brings more than a few tears to my eyes. If I remember correctly from the book, it's said that even though he and Katniss got their happy ending, that he still has some lasting side effects of the high jacking. And they both still have the PTSD from being in the games twice. Fun Fact #2: The baby that Katniss is holding at the end of the movie is actress Jennifer Lawrence's nephew. I'm so excited for your "Maze Runner" trilogy journey. You're going to love those movies. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
It doesn't quite make sense that Peeta and Katniss work it out, to me. That he would be able to get to a point where she doesn't cause a least a small sensation of dread doesn't seem likely after all that torture and brainwashing. But the story needed ONE happy ending, so I'm glad he pushed through it.
I shared these series with a friend because of how much you love Peeta. There's not enough love for him in the series. Josh Hutcherson seems like a very tender person in real life too.
In the books the explanation of her choosing Peeta, was that he was the calmness and peace that she needed. Gale was all fire and action which was good, but she had enough of that herself. It’s a very emotional story, and politically I think we can see a lot that is like the real world. Been a fun ride!
Also another flaw of Peeta in this film (tho they ruined his goodness in a lot of ways in the films) is that he was blacked out when he attacked Katniss, and he didn’t purposefully throw Mitchell in the tar like that, he just pushed him off himself which triggered a pod that killed him. This movie made it look like he killed him on purpose, he would never do that.
Just starting but love that transition between the intro and the start of the movie with the video kinda blinking open. So damn excited for this reaction

Also it was Peeta in the books who made Pollux confident underground from his fears, which showed Katniss a glimmer of the Peeta who always finds a way to help people. Idk why they changed that part. But in the books he says “well that makes you the most valuable person down here,” since Pollux is familiar with the underground, giving Pollux the confidence of his use to the team. So many minor changes made but big in terms of character changes, kinda sucks movie canon couldn’t follow book canon with at least the important stuff canon
This movie was the reason I can't look at Gale the same way. It was his plan. I don't believe he meant for Prim to die. I do believe he blames himself and mourns her loss. But he meant for innocents to die. His callousness destroyed someone he cared about and lost him his best friend.
The peacekeepers weren't rebels, that's not the point she's making. Gale was the one to come up with the idea of a second explosion, as seen in Mockingjay part 1. That's why she blames him, the "trap" that killed Prim was his idea 😢
In reactions I see, people go crazy when: Rue died Peeta first attacked Katniss Prim died Some do when Finnick died too, but most think it's inevitable because he just got married and went off to fight.
Given you completed this a year ago, you probably won’t see this comment. Oh well. I just wanted to say that the thing I love about the hunger games series is the fairly realistic portrayal of war. Good people die. Innocent people die. Civilians are used as pawns to meet the ends of tyrants. People demonstrate unbelievable acts of heroism while others commit atrocities. War is truly horrific and The Hunger Games does not shy away from the realities of war. It is something we should all remember and perhaps take a step back when destruction seems like the best path. Gale didn’t knowingly kill Prim, but he developed that bombing strategy without any thought of how it may be used. He was blinded by his own trauma after the bombing of 12 and never paused to think beyond his desire for revenge. I really encourage people to read the books or listen to them on Audible. The books are amazing. Katniss explains why Peeta was the perfect choice for her in the long run, “what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our loses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.” Thank you for your reaction videos.
Gayle wasn't sure if it was his bombs. She didn't want to kill Gayle. Plutarch was a good guy. Katniss did not want the games to continue, but she had to play along to stop Coin. You had good guesses, but the movie put you in full paranoia. Which is where I probably would have been if I had not read the books.
Great reactions! Love your honest emotion and enthusiasm for all the GOT veterans! Brienne and Marjory are such bosses, it makes sense they would show up in a movie with such a boss female lead.
This series is just so good! I get hyped up too watching it… though maybe a little less hype and talk to not miss some of the subtleties 😆 Glad you loved the series though 😁
Gale wasn't behind the Capitol plan completely they used strategy that he came up with in the past, but they didn't include him on how the strategy was going to used
I refused to watch this for a long time when I heard that Prim died at the end. I felt like the whole point was to save Prim and she ended up dying in the end.
It was done slightly better in the books. I say slightly because there's literally no good that comes from Finnick dying. He was one of the best characters and deserved true happiness so much. But yeah, in the books at least there was nothing the others could do. He was decapitated, and they all had no weapons left. Whereas in the film, well yeah. I've never actually watched it because I refused to knowing what was coming but I watched enough to see they all make it to the top. Devastating!
Buttercup in the first movie was black-white cowcat but now since the 2.movie she is a ginger cat, they chageed the cat actor without watching her different look.
Spoiler for first time watcher beware: W/ the last one going off when I read it in the book I was reading so fast I missed where it mentioned she saw a girl's braid so I got the news and the next chapter and was like???? Where? When? What?? It killed me
Gale absolutely did not know what Coin was planning. She took his idea, that is all Gale contributed. That is why he said he didn't know if it was him or not, and it was Peacekeepers that took him, not rebels in disguise.
It wasn’t a dream ending, but It felt a lot more satisfying than the end of Game of Thrones. Katniss ending up with Peter seems like she married her little brother, and it felt awkward to me.
The way you're feeling is the way you're supposed to feel. The story is brutal and doesn't shy away from the realities of war, or how it impacts the people who manage to survive. It's not meant to be a truly happy ending, only "just good enough".
Well said 👌👌
Katniss volunteered for the Games to save Prim, only to lose her in the rebellion she helped inspire. 😭 Great reaction to this series, man.
Same with Peeta. He didn't want the games to change him but they did. They both lost what they were fighting for originally

It's almost like in real life - it's complicated, it's normal to feel a bit frustrated and confused. That's ''The Hunger Games'', that's life.
16:21 mad respect for you for that correction 💗
Great reactions….. it’s a tough story.
Prim's death hurt d hardest 4 me i remember wen i first watched
This series is just so good! I get hyped up too watching it… though maybe a little less hype and talk to not miss some of the subtleties 😆 Glad you loved the series though 😁
Gale wasn't behind the Capitol plan completely they used strategy that he came up with in the past, but they didn't include him on how the strategy was going to used
She broke the wheel khaleesi style
I refused to watch this for a long time when I heard that Prim died at the end. I felt like the whole point was to save Prim and she ended up dying in the end.
Finnick saves all their lives and while they were upstairs drying off... he gets mauled. Lesson to the wise: being the "strong" friend is for suckers.
What’s the crazier part is that the sister still dies.
I don't know if you already reacted to it but I suggest Reacher. ☺️ It's on the action side though if you like that sort of thing
Your lucky you didn't have to wait 1 year like I did, IT SUCKED🤣💕
she didn't want to kill Gale so he wouldn't be taken, she wouldn't have killed Peeta either
Buttercup in the first movie was black-white cowcat but now since the 2.movie she is a ginger cat, they chageed the cat actor without watching her different look.
YESSS!!!
Finally!
Check out the maze runner franchise 4 movies just alike hunger games
Did you ever get your pizza?
Next-Chernobyl
Let's go!
Spoiler for first time watcher beware:
W/ the last one going off when I read it in the book I was reading so fast I missed where it mentioned she saw a girl's braid so I got the news and the next chapter and was like???? Where? When? What?? It killed me
Gale absolutely did not know what Coin was planning. She took his idea, that is all Gale contributed. That is why he said he didn't know if it was him or not, and it was Peacekeepers that took him, not rebels in disguise.
Did you see Prim Rose get lit up. That was freaking awesome.
👏 ❤️
It wasn’t a dream ending, but It felt a lot more satisfying than the end of Game of Thrones. Katniss ending up with Peter seems like she married her little brother, and it felt awkward to me.
But where's your pizza though?
Lol didn't come till after I was so mad it was a snow storm that day 😤😏
