- In this video you can hear organ interpretation of the famous Largo of Georg Friedrich Handel, who is the famous air (ombra mai fu) from opera "Serse" (HWV 40).
Handel composed this piece in 1738 and is known as "Largo" even though in its original version is a larghetto. Luca Raggi at the organ.
In questo video potete ascoltare un'interpretazione all'organo del celebre Largo di Georg Friedrich Handel, che è la celebre aria d'apertura (ombra mai fu) dell'opera "Serse" (HWV 40).
Handel compose questo pezzo nel 1738 ed è conosciuto come "Largo" anche se nella sua versione originale è un larghetto. All'organo Luca Raggi.
Really enjoyed this. It takes me back to when I was an assistant purser on the Cunard liner CARINTHIA in the 1960s. When the ship was at sea on a Sunday, a church service was held in the lounge and before the start of the service the ship's orchestra, under the direction of Arthur Plant, always played Handel's Lago. It became known as 'Arthur Plant on Sunday Morning.' !! It's always been a favourite of mine.

Thank you so much. I have tried to use similar registrations with some degree of success. My grandmother used to play this on piano and I still have her sheet music, now over one hundred years old. Whenever I play or hear this she comes back to me.

Buon giorno. La sto seguendo da qualche anno attraverso le sue esecuzioni you tube. Complimenti. Da alcuni anni ho ripreso gli studi musicali abbandonati all'età di 18 anni (ora ne ho 60) e sto frequentando un corso di Organo Liturgico (la mia passione di origine poi dirottata - con scarso successo - al pianoforte). E' veramente dura ma ... male che si vuole non duole. Non nascondo una certa difficoltà nel reperire le partiture perchè spesso riscontro, ma forse sbaglio, che quanto rilevabile su MLSP non corrisponda a quanto effettivamente eseguito. Anche gli organi ad importi abbordabili risultano insoddisfacenti paragonati agli organi a canne e la soluzione haupwerk necessiterebbe di guide e consigli, soprattutto per chi non ha molta dimestichezza con la tecnologia. Ciò detto le rinnovo i miei complimenti e non nascondo una certa "rabbia" nel vederla durante le esecuzione dove tutto sembra semplice, facile e lineare. Grazie di cuore. Cordialità.

ascoltando le Sue esecuzioni, son sempre piu' propenso a credere che il massimo lo potrebbe dare in una church adf un organo che sia organo a canne e non un hauptwerk indoor wthout some spaces to explain

Question - how do you find the Hauptwerk with just one touchscreen? Am looking to add MIDI to my practice organ to use Hauptwerk and am considering two screens, one on either side. Cost being the big factor at the moment, of course!

Yes, this organ is in my home. It's a Schwindler consolle projected by Fabio Mancini and Luca Panetti, it's fantastic to play, now I have made some improvements to this console, and you can see already in the latest video I uploaded, as the toccata by Belier :-)

Hauptwerk organs are literally recordings from real organs so that’s a nonsense argument 😉
