I like that track but still makes me uncomfortable how low it goes. Just not used to it but it is useful for people to understand planar sub bass extension.
On Heyday, it was more like good to very good, rather than make or break it. There is a nice driver and good tuning so it is worth the extra time spent to hear it at its best.
Thank you. They are worth some hype but as you pointed out, for specific reasons. Most of those reasons are aligned to my preferences so not too surprising I like it a lot. Some people will certainly prefer the bass of the original and I get that too. I don't mind two flavors of the same set but I wouldn't pursue the original for myself as Heyday is closer to what I prefer.
Very nice review! I'm looking forward to mine arriving. I have the OG Wu Zetian, really nice set, but I also have the Timeless, and I love the details of that one.
If you have a decent dac/amp, you aren't going to beat planar. Plugging both into a phone, planars don't do well, you would go Quintet. Also be aware that the two sets have almost opposite upper mids, Heyday is relaxed and Quintet is almost too much.
I got this one and now had spend some time with this gem , had to agree it do kind of hit the right spot as far as balance, neutral and natural , slightly warm might be , but not really much .. and my experience is that the tip can significantly alter the earphones play on how it brings on , and the earphone itself benefit from more powerful source , try a few dongle and DAC .. it just shows , interesting thing is it's still pretty good resolving despite the price and the tuning. And I had try it on different cables and surprisingly the cable seems not to made much difference , at least less on some other IEM of similar made and price bracket And Tangzu just announce today their next release , namely the Princess Series ( yes they say its a series ) and the first model is Princess Chang Le , historically renown & revered for her beauty , wonder how that would translate into the product
Yes, I spent a lot of time with tips. I spent a lot of time saying this sounds really good, can it sound better with different tips. I do hope people spending this much money spend some extra time trying whatever tips they have in the house to try to squeeze a bit more out of a great set.
Thanks for the video, I really want to know how the aful performer 5 compares to this. Would be awesome if you could review the full and compare them to this. I know it's not planar but the price is similar,
@@PaulWasabii you mean the over marketing ? Ya you could consider that. But if its a genuinely good product and does something good I won't mind that much tbf. I got these in April, great set if you're into midrange. Not a set I'd rec to bassheads personally though most people will be hard pressed to call the Heyday a bad IEM. I'm more of a midrange guy so the tuning here does appeal to me but the bass can be a tad too polite at times.
Dioko is on the bright side, it has quite a bit of treble. The trick to the fun gang is tips, you can use a smaller bore tip or foam to cut the brightness a bit. Or go with a more natural set like Heyday, the OG has more bass if that is what you want, or Tin P1max.
Yeah, its very nice. I remember watching your review which seems like a long time ago and hoping the guy who complained about the driver pics in the comments doesn't appear here. He's all yours.
Hi Paul, I avoid planars IEM, until one good friend give me a gift the ifi hip dac 2 as a present; now I have an undecided what would be my 1st planar : 1. this heyday, 2. the FuDu, 3. the S12Pro, or 4. the cheap PR1 Pro. please help, 🙏 thanks. suggestion by others also welcome.
DO NOTHING..Seriously, there are a lot of planars about to come one, Kiwi Ears Melody, Timeless 2, Sivga Nightinggale, Kefine Klanar, and the S15. My first thought was PR1 Pro but its a gamble on the tuning but a safe bet if you can EQ too. I wouldn't invest too much right now especially with the S15 right around the corner. Artti T10 is another cheaper option which appears to be a cheap S12.
Hi! I've been watching a couple reviews but having a hard time deciding between this and the Moondrop Kato. I've mostly used Tin T2 for the past 3 years but I think I would enjoy either one's tuning after trying out the Tangzu Wan'Er. Which one would you recommend getting for a budget ~200 usd?
Kato is a hard one for me to recommend as I friends who like it and friends who do not like it at all. I never heard it but if it is a 50/50 chance I will like it, probably not a set I would jump at. Wan'er and Heyday are probably a closer pairing. If you are just using your phone to drive the T2, I might lean towards Kato. I am in the camp that believes planar drivers need a bit more power.
Probably not. I am almost in the camp that thinks the S12 and Pro are the same, but unit variation is the difference. If I was buying one today, I'd buy Pro but if I had S12, I wouldn't buy the Pro assuming its better.
I would suggest trying all your cables on Heyday. I spent time with a XINHS pure silver though. A lot of it was centered on the opening of Lady Gaga Diamond Hearts as I mentioned. Maybe it is just my craziness, but you can hear tiny changes with Heyday and I spent a lot of time changing everything. I kept saying, this is really good but can it be better and I think most people will dial in the tips and be happy.
Mostly Topping DX5 that sits on my desk. I preferred that over TRI TK2 portable unless it was running into Aune B1S. I would try everything you have is it is sensitive to nearly any change.
The original S12 I tried was really too bright. That was why I never bought one. Did S12 Pro change that? Maybe. S12 will still have an advantage in resolving details but that comes along with listening to a bright set. S12 is more V shaped too. I generally avoid bright, fatiguing sets so I'd take Heyday everyday.
@@PaulWasabii From what it looks like yes. They tamed the bright parts and they increased the bass in s12 pro a bit. Which gives it a overall awesome timbre! Many people like the s12 pro hence wanted to know your opinion. The heyday isnt available in my country now.
Everything that I heard with these is somehow peaky and unpleasent. I tried different tips (stock tips and moondrop spring tips that dont fit on this iem) but its pointless. Maybe I need to EQ it or I am sensitive to planar treble in general. I was really hyped about these but the only things that are good is the definition and details but everything else is better on my mangird tea. The stage isnt good either. Could it be a QC issue ?
When I heard my original Wu for the first time it was like "wow those little guys has bass like no other" 👌. Heyday looks better has better cable + I respect HBB but dont feel the need to switch them
I am not sure how many people really bought both. As a planar bass fan, I understood the appeal of the original. I would say the same though, after hearing Heyday, I am ok with just having Heyday. No need to own both.
NiceHCK have launched the cable "Dragonscale". What do you think about it? Does it cost its price in Ali with a coupon from NiceHCK store? Sorry, I don't know the exact price 'cause from Russia, can't change the currency.
I actually have a Dragonscale. It is thick and stiff, but unique. I can't recommend it unless you are a NiceHCK collector. ivipQ has some cheaper palladium strand cables if you want to give that a try without the cost of Dragonscale. IIRC, Dragonscale is $500usd list price and $150usd after coupon.
Hey thanks for the shout out Paul. Excellent review as usual!!
Thanks for the review btw

@@PaulWasabii lol! Thats quite a thing. I can get that track to short my ears entirely out with enough power. *chiefs kiss*

Whats the difference between balanced vs foam tips?
My foam tips are not foam, random single pair of silicone that do not work for me. Balanced are similar to 07 style from various vendors.
