I shot this on Day 2 of our Vitpilen Tour. And as mentioned in the beginning this road was quite the challenge for the 401's suspension. Although not in a problematic way, as you can see. But it helped the road was so wide in most places. Because on narrow mountain roads you really need to reduce your speed quite a lot: later that day I had a moment or two in which the stiff suspension started bouncing heavily and I had to use all my skill to keep the bike in my lane.

@@Michelsen3K I am even happier, it gives a lot of security when laying down the motorcycle even with 110-150 tires. good decision to my consideration. I like the exhaust of the 2018 model better, also the previous models have better quality in certain things.

@@Schaaf I ride dirtbikes on my freetime but I also want to start riding motorcycles daily to and from work. Do you think Vitpilen 401 is a good starter bike?
@@Freddan9700 yes absolutely. But make sure to try something with similar power but with a different seating position too. The Vitpilen has you leaned forwards a lot. Since you're comign from dirtbikes you maybe feel more at home with upright bikes. Like a Z400 or CB300R
@@Schaaf Yeah I just think other similar bikes sound very boring av bad. Vitpilen in my opinion sounds badass and thats why i like it so much, its a great sounding "small" bike. I ride a KTM 250f which has 44hp so there´s pretty much no difference in power so im not worried about that. And also i think that Vitpilen looks stunningly amazing.

Geniale Straßenführung, bis auf den Belag. Wir haben hier im Odenwald und Spessart auch nette Strecken. Kann es kaum abwarten, bis es mal wieder etwas besseres Wetter gibt.

Compared to the little Honda ... The displacement is similar. But the pc26 engine still has noticeably more willpower in it. Even in its late twenties.
The suspension and quality may be great, but I still dont get the idea of putting a single into a decent road bike.
It’s not the power.
Not the wide powerband.
Not the sound.
Not the comfort.
Not the economy.
Then what the hell is it?

well, the CB500 has more than a 100ccs more. Which is a lot in the "small" class. Plus the Vitpilen does great when ridden hard, as long as the road is not completely fucked up. But yes indeed, other than that, the main reason to buy it is looks
@kopasznyaku - I think singles are fun because you can wring them out without braking land speed records and they're light, torquey and cheap.
I always seem to have more fun on a smaller bike than a biker one ! Nice video
on the road they usually make more sense!

Hey mate very awesome video thankyou. I've been on the fence on which learner bike I should buy it's a showdown between a duke 390 and a 401 but I think I'll lean towards the 401 after this.

The duke 390 and 401 have the same engine so it’s very much down to your preferred styling and rider comfort.

I've owned one for a year now, it's a really divisive bike, some love it, others hate it, but it's really a little bomb on the road, light and really nimble. I will admit that the sound is really unflattering it's true
But given the circumstances, expensive fuel, frequent speed checks, a larger cylinder bike becomes difficult to envisage
I'd rather go fast with a small bike than slow with a big one
I would like to try a 701 one day to see if the power difference is worth the investment!

Ich spiel ja jetzt schon länger mit dem Gedanken mir eine im Sommer für den daily cummute zur arbeit und ab und zu nen kleinen ausflug am wochenende zu holen ... designtechnisch find ich sie wirklich bombe, auch hab ich erst den A2 schein ... was mich noch abhält ist der preis, den ich eigentlich recht happig finde

Yay for the design, Nay for the price! I know, I know, one should not have the blunt ignorance to blindly say "Nay" to _any_ bike, but still, I can't get my mind off of the fact that it is a very well designed yet --in the end-- an Indian made Duke. It all boils down to the preference of how much one would like to pay extra for a good design and a couple of tuning here and there.. And, I _myself_ have a Duke 390, so, go figure that.

Schön ist sie ja die Vitpilen bzw. liegt Schönheit im Auge des Betrachters. Ich könnte sie mir aber maximal als Stadtbike bzw. für wirklich kurze Strecken vorstellen, ohne das ich sie jetzt gefahren bin. Danke fürs zeigen. Ride safe.

Ich habe die Svartpilen und muss sagen die größte Stärke der 401er Huskys sind Kurvenreiche Landstraßen, ab 120 wird es dann schon relativ zäh und
als Stadtbike eher weil sie ein echter Hingucker ist ;)
Finde das Getriebe/Motor sind um im Stadtverkehr mitzuschwimmen nicht optimal, vor allem muss der Motor richtig warm sein damit er sich gut anfühlt und gut klingt.
Ich bin dennoch sehr zufrieden obwohl ich hauptsächlich in der Stadt fahre :)

Haven't. My CB offers more comfort and works better on bad roads, the 401's offers more stability on good roads
I'm new to riding... Why are you revving it and then putting it into gear? Is there a term for it so I can look it up and learn about it?

Hab ne Duke 690 un die braucht bei gelegentlich ähnlicher Fahrweise auch nur max 4,5l Ich denke die 401er wird eher noch n bisschen weniger brauchen.

Riding position is way different ( seat and handlebar)... The tires are also very different. Although the engine and chassis are the same, the vitpilen is almost a cafe racer and the svartpilen is almost a scrambler...

Real talk: Why would anyone get this over the ninja400 or Z400 as an A2 bike? The KTM 390 engine also has a long history of nasty failures, which I doubt have all been dealt with. The kawasaki 400 range seems to have everything improved over the KTM390 range, power, reliability, suspension, brakes, price(?), comfort, touring capability, maintenance intervals.
Simple answer: looks. Is by far one of the most important reasons for young buyers. I myself would go for the Kawasakis too

@@LigerZero1985 I think your comment didn't make too much sense because obviously bikes with ~700cc and lots more horses would do this stretch of road in a different (more relaxed) manner. Of course a 400cc engine only making 44bhp has to work hard here.
