For first time buyers, this was an awesome review. I love budget cars, very detailed review as well. Really impressive little car as well, I actually drove an i10 when I first learnt how to drive. Keep the budget car reviews coming. Love them and this channel ❤.
Just bought my wife the Grand i10 1L for her to use daily as she was complaining of the price of diesel for the SUV she usually drives. We chose the 1L as it is surprisingly sprightly and not as slow as I thought it would be and has all the necessities. Even with 3 adults in it can get up to freeway speeds (100km/h) very easily. As our fourth car, it makes a lot of sense and gets you from A to B with good fuel consumption and generally good comfort for short journeys. I wouldn't use it for longer journeys like driving CT to JHB, but that was never what these cars were designed for.
Ciro, personally best car journalist in the world. Grand i10, it looks like it was supposed to be a Kia Picanto, those lines are from Kia Sportage. Great car review as always. ❤
For the price of a Hyundai Grand i10 fluid manual, about (R280 000) I would buy a current gen second hand Suzuki Baleno GLX, bigger engine, bigger interior and more safety features.
My Suzuki Dzire has a AMT, and I love it. Put it in manual shift mode and it feels and drives like a manual without a clutch which is awesome in traffic. The full auto mode is just a bit dumb when doing traffic on uphills as it can hunt for gears. Switching gears up or down can be done by accelerator as well. I live it. Even had it on a track day where the AMT was awesome.
All the negative comments and I bet not on of you own one, or have even driven it for more than a testdrive worth of KM. Like I said, I own one for 4 years, and I drive it daily. I have had it on track around Vereeniging cart circuit and around Zwartkops doing a 1:26.9 (very good for a factory stock 1200cc) . It works great. Sure you need to drive it differently to a normal auto, but it drives and feels more like a manual with the convenience of not having to use a clutch. Especially in traffic. Downshifts are smooth and inperceptable, upshifts are quite quick and on track if you timed it right to get in the sweetspot of power bands, then it was actually very quick with shifting. It was only negative on track due to not being able to engine brake properly like with a manual. Also has the added benefit of not having any slip like a normal auto, so fuel consumption is exactly the same as a manual. And yes, I would buy another AMT above a manual if it is as good as this one.
Great review as usual, which is why I'm a big fan and regular viewer. I especially love that you spend more time talking about car you're reviewing and when you refer to rivals it's only to compare price and specs. I also agree with you that safety equipment such as ESP should be standard, especially because this car is likely to be bought by new drivers. Even if they add a thousand or two to the price it's OK because it will add just a few Rands to the instalments
I don't get why AMTs are such a bad idea, I own 1 myself and I am decently happy about it. What I don't seem to like are CVTs, weirdly enough people choose those over AMTs. It is a bit slow to shift but it really isn't that bad, what I enjoy the most is downshifting it myself when I need it to. Upshifting is quicker when it does it itself, and it seems to do it quicker depending on how you accelerate also.
Heys Ciro, lovely review 👍👍I think the Gi10 is a good solid product, but it's priced a segment above, it's now competing on price with the Suzuki Baleno (Toyota Starlet) and even the new Suzuki Fronx. It has lost out in the value proposition when compared to it's peers like the Swift and I feel as if in the Hyundai line up it's kinda like replaced the i20, or taken away sales from the i20 because of its relative pricing (and is well specced) 😁
Good useable review Ciro. Nice little car and nice touch with rear air vents. I would buy the Suzuki Baleno GLX as it has more power and offers so much more.
Grrrrr, I'm a compact car fan here in Québec Canada. I think that we are only a Minority here . I would have been so happy by this Hyundai! But here our automotive journalist just love SUV, and are always crying about small cars.
Hi Ciro i had the previous generation i10 Grand automatic 1.25 liter 4 Cylinder nice cars no problem with mine for over 5 Years is the new one same size engine?
Hello, I am looking for fog lights that will fit mine, it is a 2024, I live in El Salvador Central America, the dealer I bought the car from can't help me. The front bumper image at 6:21 on this video. if anyone has a lead I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Awesome review Ciro🙌🏾🙌🏾😎 I’m not sure between swift and this what I would take as the Hyundai seems little more premium but I just love keyless life 😂so Suzuki wins me. But here is something interesting..I’m in market for a nice demo car and for R250k you can even get nice slightly used Suzuki baleno GLX which is full specced and wayyyyy more power so I think this i10 is overpriced😢😮
The Suzuki is lighter on fuel. A small car like this ought to have its consumption at 4.7 and not 5.5l/100km. I live with the hyundai and it's expensive to service. R4600 MAJOR SERVICE R2800 minor. Too expensive a car, unnecessarily so. It's a robbery.
Hi there, with nearly 75,000 cars on our site it is impossible for us to inspect each car. We advise those looking to buy a vehicle, no matter which dealership you are purchasing from, to throughly inspect the car and make considered purchasing decisions. We do however not tolerate certain dealer behaviours and we have terminated our relationship with dealers in the past. If you have a bad experience with one of our dealers you may call our customer care centre using the details on our contact page.
Ciro, please review the Suzuki Dzire Auto and tell us what you think of AMT's after that. The Suzuki AMT's are more refined and in the Dzire, especially in manual mode, is very sporty.
Had 2 cvt’s and they are the best for smaller cars!!! Would take that over a 4 speed any day! 4 speed is a joke! Also driven the Suzuki AMT. rather have a 5 speed AMT over the 4 speed all day.
Ciro, you're world-class. Always bringing great reviews. Kia/Hyundai continues to up their game. Even the Picanto has awesome features for its size. By the way I like that boot-closing "feature" on this i10 😅
The Baleno is much more premium than the Grand i10 and has more power. I would pay in R10 000 and buy a new Baleno GLX. The Hyundai is still a nice car though.. Just the price is wrong...
Thanks for the advice on AMT vs proper auto. Most people don't know this and an AMT is an awful auto gearbox. So the fact that they charge a R30k premium for a worse driving experience is disgusting. I don't know how Hyundai is getting this shit pricing. Whoever buys this at this price... I have no words for you. There's simply far better cars at this price especially from Suzuki and even whole SUVs from Chery.
i10 Range topper is too much. Its a noddy car and nothing more than a budget commute. The Suzuki Swift is a more substantial car with way better road presence despite it being at the end of its life cycle. The new Suzuki Fronx (stupid name) is a game changer in the price segment.
It's overpriced for what it is especially considering the awesome cars Suzuki are offering. And Hyundais are so cheaply made and plasticky. This car is simply unacceptable at this price point. Hyundai and Kia no longer represent value for money. They've gone very European in pricing.
Ciro brings world class automotive journalism. Perfect balance of character & detail in these reviews.

I'm sorry but the Swift is still a winner, R40000 is a lot of money.
Great review 😅
I must say u r one of the coolest journalists to watch. You even made the I10 sound cool😂
R279000 for this car? They are crazy
I don't know how it is considered a budget car with that price.
The price is insaneeeeeeeeee 😢

Actually now for the same price you can even get the new Suzuki Fronx, which starts from R280 K

Nah pal, it’s ok to say that you made a mistake and it sucks
@@semicolon101 Do you own one?
If it comes automatic transmission the ATM from Suzuki is one of the worst you can buy
If there's no clutch, it's sacrilege to call it a manual. Same goes for DCT, DSG ,CVT etc
All the negative comments and I bet not on of you own one, or have even driven it for more than a testdrive worth of KM.

Nice face-lift for the Hyundai. Overpriced but Suzuki Swift is well specced. Review is👌🏼
Ciro, please do an in-depth expose of small car (1.2L) automatics; AMT, CVT and torque conv vs manual.
How about a short road trip and drag shootout?

The one in my mother's Picanto is horrible.
Nice review. Just bought one and love it.
It's a good car for girlies as it's underpowered and so not very fast.

For R279k this little car is the exact price as the new Suzuki Fronx which is way larger. Way..

Thanks for the heads-up on auto gearboxes, now I know AMT vs proper Auto
You're welcome, good luck with your search!
You were missed Ciro!!
We need a review of the new Toyota Urban Cruiser vs the Suzuki Fronx
IMO Hyundai budget over Suzuki budget anyday👏🏼
The power is similar to the Polo vivo 1.4
A cooler box is always accompanied by a camp chair so a proper boot test should be a COOLER BOX WITH A CAMP CHAIR
Love the size of it but is 67hp enough for it’s weight and having 2 people inside ?

how much is rand in pounds sterling
This car gets a solid Eish from me 😂
Get yourselves a Suzuki Swift and call it a day. Another alternative to consider is the Honda Amaze.
Please do a honda brio review
New cars, crazy prices
The boot closure😂
For an extra 10k in Rands you do realise you can get a Suzuki Fronx which is an equates to an extra 167 Rands in car payments,
The swift is a no brainer choice
AMT's suck. Slushboxes for the win!
That said, what's worse? An AMT or a CVT?
14:50 😂
0:11 "H-u-nday", pronounced like "Sunday"
IT HAS THOSE IONIC VIBES
Kia's plastic are much more solid/stronger than those from Hyndai and nissan magnite

Fluid is costly- GL Swift is a good buy
Budget car in SA? Forget my brother
Hyundai rhymes with Sunday
Suzuki all the way .
My take away is buy a Swift 😅
For R279000, I’d rather add R10000 and get the Baleno GLX, a far superior car!
With 30% import tax cANCer is killing.
