Security camera footage captured a bright comet fragment lighting up the night sky in the Portuguese city of Braga. The astronomical phenomenon was visible in various parts of Spain and Portugal. Initially thought to be a meteor, the European Space Agency later identified it as a small piece of a comet travelling at a speed of 45 km per second before burning up over the Atlantic Ocean. The object illuminated the skies in brilliant shades of blue and green, with many witnesses reporting the sighting to emergency services.
