It was awesome to see lions again, and especially the three young ones! 😍🦁 We could only spend a few minutes with them, but we were happy to end Day 5 with a lion sighting. See you bright and early on Day 6!
We enjoyed Lower Sabie a lot too. It's a busy, but great camp with a fantastic location for gameviewing. So happy to hear you had fun with us on Day 5! Day 6 loading for Wednesday! 🚙🤩
It was sooo fantastic to see the Kruger National Park with you two beloveds.. thank you sooo much Curtis and Sonia.. Much love and Blessings to you both ❤🙌
This wasn't our last day in the Park at all. It was our last night at Lower Sabie and we moved on to the next camp the following morning. I hope you'll stick around for those episodes too, it's fun having you on board! 🤩🚙
Hi guys a video full of laughter and memories. Great driving early morning with the beautiful sunrise. Im with you on this one driving fast past cars good manners cost nothing. The amount of game and bird life mind blowing the views you said it as far as the eye can see when I have tried to explain what its like driving through Kruger in your own car and now i have your videos to show so close to nature in a park the size of the country of Wales!!!.that car with the sign Adventure before dementia how very true. Great you found the 3 lion cubs to top off an amazing day braai dop and good company says it all thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
There were times that we laughed until we cried on this trip. And we didn't always know exactly what about, the happiness and joy were just bubbling over because of where we were. 🥳 The braai and dop that evening were superb, and the company wasn't too bad either! 😁🥩🍻 Cheers to you for still having such a soft spot for Kruger and our beautiful beloved country and for spreading the word. We salute you. 😍🇿🇦
Hi Sonia and Curtis, I am so enjoying the KNP series withyou.couldn't believe the size of the buffalo herds. Love the birds and the cherry of too of the cake "the lion cubs" Thanks for taking us along with you. Looking forward to Day 6.❤
I'm always happy to hear that you enjoy Kruger with us, but I expect nothing else! 😁🚙 Those buffalo herds really spoilt us and we were super happy to have seen them, there were literally hundreds! 🐃 The three cherries on the rocks were the perfect end to Day 5 and we found ourselves thinking of them several times that evening, wondering whether Mommy had come for them already. They're such magnificent creatures. 😍🦁
I'm so glad you got to see the lion cubs and the female bird that you were hoping to see. Can't wait for your next adventure travel safe and keep warm❤❤
The lion cubs were most certainly a fantastic way to end Day 5 and for sure a highlight! 🤩🦁 The female bird turned out not to be one after all, according to some viewers who know birds much, much better than us. 😏🐦
Another magnificent day! More wonderful memories. The ground hornbills have such large, beautiful eyes - almost human-like. So glad the fifth day ended on a high with the sighting of the three lion cubs on the rocks. I look froward to the next phase as you bid Lower Sabie farewell and journey on Northbound .....
Those ground hornbills get us every time, they're such magnificent birds. And I agree with you about their eyes, I love it when they look straight at us! 😍🦆 We were super excited about the three young lions and it was certainly a fantastic end to Day 5. Day 6 sees us leaving Lower Sabie for the next camp, so we'll see you there! 😁🚙
We also enjoyed seeing so many birds and it's absolute magic when birdsong is the only sound that can be heard. Glad to hear that you love wildlife and this special place as much as the two of us. 😍🚙
Hi Curtis , Sonia , Dusty , and Sandy. Great to ride at a leisurely pace along the roads of Kruger. Love seeing giraffe leisurely stripping branches of their leaves with their tongues. I was glad of Sonias goal of seeing the female ground hornbill being realized till I read the other viewers comment. Loved your description of the cubs waiting for Mommy to bring them takeaways for their supper. Loved that turn of phrase.
Sonia was rather devastated that what we thought was a female Ground Hornbill turned out not to be one, but hopefully so we'll learn. The giraffes' tongues are fascinating to watch as they strip the leaves off the thin little branches, they're such huge, but gentle creatures. 😍🦒 It was fantastic to end the day with the charming three young lions on the rocks. While I was enjoying dinner that evening, I couldn't help but wonder whether Mommy had already come to call them for dinner. 🦁🚙
I agree the ground hornbill u saw was a juvenile. Both have red but the female has a patch of blue as well. Thanx for ur. Videos. Sooo enjoy them . Keep up the good work
Yup, there is simply no greater place on earth! 😍 I appreciate you watching and am glad that you're enjoying our Kruger series. For us, it's the entirety of the place and not just specific things or animals. We just love it ALL! 😁🚙
Hey...❤... the zebras where particularly amazing in this video. Love all the cherps from the auto pilot side. Stop.....reverse....lol 😂just loving it😂yes mam❤. The birds on this trip were exceptional.
Yes, Mam! I followed every single instruction! 🤣 When Sonia wants to coo and admire and adore any kind of wildlife or animal, I have no option but to oblige. Or I'll be in deep trouble afterwards, let me tell you! 🥰 The zebra were fantastic to see, as always. I find it fascinating that each one's stripes are completely unique, although they look so very similar. 🦓 So glad you're loving Kruger again with us in 2024!
It's a sad reality that slow-moving animals and little insects are extremely vulnerable to fires. Actually so are even the bigger, faster animals who can also get trapped by fire. It was rough seeing those high flames and we hope with you that everything managed to get away. 🔥😨 Luckily the rest of Day 5 was a happy one.
Wow! In one day, you saw the largest bird in the world; the heaviest flying bird in the world and the bird that builds the biggest nests in Africa!!! 💚
As non-birders, we didn't know that, so it sounds incredible and we happen to love all three! We learnt that the Kori bustard is the heaviest flying bird in Africa, but as you know by now, we're no experts. 😁🦆
@ That’s the great thing about travel and exploring - “every day is a school day” as they say. And travel and exploring the natural world is the best. I’m learning about mammals etc from your posts 👍🏻. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you for the correction. 👌🏻 So much to learn still in the birding world. Hopefully we remember some of the info for next time! 😁🦆 I'm glad you're enjoying this incredible place with us!
Another great series Curtis and Sonia! Basically, fires are set on purpose in Kruger National Park as part of a controlled burning program to reduce the risk of larger wildfires. This is from the SANParks website: Kruger National Park (KNP) is implementing management plans of the winter fire season which usually takes place between June and October. Keep up the great work 😊
Wonderful journey again. I love the view from Nkumbi. To me the best in the park and I want my ashes scattered there to gaze over those plains looking towards Skukuza.
They were indeed three cherries on top! 🦁🍒 It was fantastic to see the three young lions, I just wish we had more than a few minutes to sit and watch them, but that's how it goes in Kruger. Definitely a firm highlight of Day 5 in the BPOE! 😁🚙
Hi guys, just a correction on the Southern Ground Hornbill sighting...the bird that you thought is the female is actually a juvenile bird. Both the male and female has red facial skin, but the female has a small blueish patch on the chin area. The bird with no red facial skin is the youngster in other words.
Thank you for the correction. 👌🏻 So we'll learn one mistake at a time, and we most likely will make the same errors again and again, but not with the Ground Hornbills again. 😍🦆
Hi julle waar sal ek begin okay sukses op sukses. Ek kan nie se wat die beste was nie als was perfek en toe moes julle eindig met die leeu welpies so mooi dankie dit was net wat dkie dr georder het. Mooi loop
My father used to tell us as children that the reason why the waterbuck has a white circle on its posterior is that it sat on a newly painted toilet seat before the white paint dried!😂
Love your Travels through Kruger,, the Southern Ground Hornbill, the noisy brown one was a Juvenile, the Female has a Purple Throat over the red, the Male is all Red. Enjoy Further. Oh, and the waterbuck - look at there noses they have a heart shape with the white around it. Love it.
I'm not lion when I say I also love to see lion. The eagle is so magnificent, what a majestic bird and beautiful flight. At least my favourites were there, elephants and tortoise. That potjie certainly went a long way 😂 love the hornbill, wonder if they are related to turkey, just the wattles and head look so like turkey. Bushfires are so horrific!! I keep thinking of the tortoises that can't get away. When there is fire on Table Mountain, people turn out with bags to rescue tortoise. Those baboons carefully pick the grass that is bearing seed. More nutritious.
That potjie was a bargain, let me tell you! And it just got better with time, as I would imagine you would tell me with good red wine. 😁🥘🍷 Our knowledge of birds is extremely limited, but it doesn't seem that hornbills are related to turkeys. Their closest relatives are kingfishers, rollers and bee-eaters, according to Google. Luckily for you, and Sonia, elephants will for the most part never be in too short supply. They will forever put a smile on my darling wife's face too, no matter how many hundreds we've seen. We were fairly lucky with tortoises too, but they're not as guaranteed. 😍🐘🐢 The three young lions were most certainly also a highlight of Day 5!
It was fantastic to meet so many wonderful folks who watch our videos on this trip. We were blown away by the positive response and thoroughly enjoyed chatting to everyone. 😁🚙
We're long back home already, so I have no idea about the temperatures there at the moment. We had moderate weather for the most part and only a few hot / warm days, which we were grateful for. 🚙🌤️Stay cool!
Fantastic fifth day! I especially appreciated the variety of birds you saw! Rather surprising that bird names can be outdated! Why would anybody want to change the name of birds!
Yup, I would have no idea why there would be a need to change bird names. It just creates further confusion with already-confused novice birders like ourselves. 🤷🏻♂️🐦 Be that as it may, we still enjoyed dabbling in bird identification a little, but will definitely not be able to make it a serious hobby. It's way too difficult! 😁 They are all gorgeous though and that's more than enough for us. I'm glad you're enjoying our Kruger series. I hope you and the Mrs have a fantastic trip to your home country. Travel safe! 😍🇿🇦
Yeah, Sun ☀️ rise early during spring/summer, school learners don’t get late to school, because around 4am you get the sunrise 🌅, no need for alarm to wake up. I was so surprised when I reside in Cape Town, getting sunset 🌅 so late
“One grass at the time, good heavens!”, als altijd de geweldige opmerkzaamheid van Sonia 😄.
Ever the Dutch patriot! 🤩🇳🇱 That even a coffee ad break reminds you of your beloved home country. ☕The check tablecloth has been our faithful travelling companion for a long time now and on many kilometres, but nowhere as special as in the magical surroundings of Kruger. It worked overtime on this trip! 😁 It was actually a steenbok lying in the burnt area of the bush. Some of the small antelope look so similar, it's easy to confuse them with one another. Our three young lions were most certainly long-awaited and much appreciated, albeit only for a few short minutes before the camp gates closed. 😍🦁 We haven't had loadshedding in Strand since April, if I remember correctly. And what a pleasure! 💡
There are so many special spots in Kruger and it's just not possible to catch them all. Orpen Dam is definitely worth a stop next time you're in this magical place. I'm glad you decided to hop on board! 🚙😁
Nope, we didn't leave quite yet. We only packed up at Lower Sabie the next day, but moved on to our next camp, so there was a lot more Kruger in our, and your, forecast! 😁🚙
We weren't done with this trip yet either. It was our last evening in Lower Sabie, but we moved on to our next camp the following day, so stick around! 😁🚙
Thanks for sharing this video, nice 👍🇬🇧
Wonderful and the lions the bonus. Again a very nice trip which I enjoyed. Keep going tomorrow I will see where we heading. Thanks guys well done

Thank you for the correction. 👌🏻 So much to learn still in the birding world. Hopefully we remember some of the info for next time! 😁🦆 I'm glad you're enjoying this incredible place with us!

Your correction is noted, thank you. 🦆 We love that about the waterbuck's nose. 🖤🐐 We enjoyed our trip too, we had so much fun.
Gompou favourite food is the gum of thorn tree.....from their the Afrikaans name
That would make perfect sense! 🦆

It was super sad to see those raging flames, we always feel so very sorry for the wildlife. 🔥😢 I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of Day 5, we did too!

Nwa-switsontso means someone/something that carries many insects (like crickets 🦗, butterflies 🦋 and etc)
Oh next time we in knp wil def visit this sighting how did we miss orpen damm
There are so many special spots in Kruger and it's just not possible to catch them all. Orpen Dam is definitely worth a stop next time you're in this magical place. I'm glad you decided to hop on board! 🚙😁
Hi guys wich camera are you using.
We do all our filming with my everyday cellphone, a Samsung S22 Ultra, mounted on a selfie-stick. 🚙📱
😂 Mom went to buy some food at Sabie River Mall ❤
Another good day at the Kruger but it sounds like it is ending soon...
Nope, we didn't leave quite yet. We only packed up at Lower Sabie the next day, but moved on to our next camp, so there was a lot more Kruger in our, and your, forecast! 😁🚙
@DustBugsTravel Great!
GN what is the name of the dish you prepared thanks
No specific name, just a bunch of things we threw together on the grill. 😁🔥
NO, STAY FOR A 2 WEEKS LONGER. I AM NOT DONE WITH THIS TRIP YET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We weren't done with this trip yet either. It was our last evening in Lower Sabie, but we moved on to our next camp the following day, so stick around! 😁🚙
