Lemper actualy wraped with banana leaves to
1. Yes you were right. Everytime you try to speak indonesian, always try with your spanish accent because we sound similar including the rolling R. Your lemper sounded perfect. 2. Yes original lemper is wrapped in banana leaf
The lemper is made from a sticky rice, seasoned with coconut milk, garlic, coriander, etc. thats the reason it has a flavorful taste. And also it’s very different with tamales. The taste and the texture is super different 🤌🏼
I compared it to an ayahaca not a tamale! The taste is very similar, not the texture tho
@@JessicaGrey Usually, we wrap it in banana leaves, to make it more fragrant.
And there are other variations such as grilled, and the other variation is wrapped in an omelet instead of banana leaves.
CMIIW
The "sweet" on Nasi goreng is from Kecap Manis aka sweet soy sauce. Basically Indonesian soy sauce is little bit more sweet than other soy sauce.
Little bit sweet is an understatement hahah
There ia no such a more sweet than other soy sauce. Kecap manis ia the only one, other soy sauces are just salty umami taste
So much variety in indonesian food i never knew, i must try it now
a lot more than you think probably, Indonesia have more than 700 ethnic group which each one have variety of foods and blended, spread all over Indonesia. For example Padang food is literally all over the country because it is soooo good.
@@tmsgaming3986 true. But I wonder why something like arsik is not well known. Yeah, bataknese food is not halal sometimes, but it's even better than padang food in my opinion 😋. Like pinadar for example.
Glad you enjoyed our dishes, hope you could other Indonesian food/beverages ❤
Ampun...segitu banyaknya makanan dilahap semua, kita aja orang indonesia nggak bisa habisin semuanya.mukbang.
Over all good..
Terima kasih sudah coba makanan-makanan indonesia yang penuh dengan cita rasa.
Jessica...

Once you've try nasi goreng, you can not stop eating 😊 greeting from Indonesia 🙏🇮🇩
that is exactly what happened! lol ☺️
Gogos leboh enak daripada nasgor
@@RuRu0091 gogos bahasa mana tuh🤣🤣 gw aja kaga tau
@@Mrajiboy
Gogos itu ketan yang di bungkus pake daun pisang dan dibakar, kira2 hasilnya mirip lemang. Saya tdk tau namanya didaerah lain tapi Bugis dan Makassar nyebutnya gogos
@@JessicaGrey Lol nasi goreng is a basic fried rice and each area in Indonesia has their own version of nasi goreng
I'm from Padang, thanks for trying our Nasi Padang, actually in Indonesia it really famous😊
Uduk Jakarta, the correct name is NASI UDUK JAKARTA (Rice cooked with coconut milk)...
You ate a looooot of food....all considered as HEAVY MEAL, except for lemper, lemper is for snack or very light meal...
Anyway, enjoy your delicious Indonesian food.... 🙏❤️
_6:26_ *the real Lemper in Indo, they're wrapped in banana leaf and roasted wholly. so it's a lil bit rustic, smokey, and fragrant instead of pale and bland like the one you ate* 😊
Keep up the quality vlogs! 😀
It was pale but it was fire 🔥 🤤 lol
some are smokey because they are burnt and some are not, I have eaten one that was not burnt
Watched this at 6 in the morning and made me hungry. So i ordered nasi goreng and watched this again😂
it's amazing that you want to try Indonesian food that is very tasty and unique that no other country besides Indonesia has
Love from Indonesia 🇮🇩 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🇮🇩 ❤️!!
Welcome to Indonesia. 🤗🇮🇩
We have many foods, not only Nasi Goreng, Sate, Rendang, you can try.
Come here sister, You can try "Pisang Goreng (Pronounced is like Germany, Spain, or Dutch language) / in eng. Fried Banana" with drink of coffee or tea. It's very delicious.
"Pisang Goreng" is like dessert.
You can eating a lots foods very delicious in here, and don't forget is so cheap.
Buy one, gratis one.
"Gratis" is free in Indonesia, like Spain, Dutch, or Germany language right?
Sorry, if my english bad. 🙏
the Lemper originally wrapped with banana leaf, the leaf enhanced the aroma. just like the leaf gives an aroma to your nasi bungkus
The sweet taste of fried rice comes from kecap manis which literaly translates to Sweet soy sauce. It is always used in every fried rice to give a balanced taste after adding salt and pepper.
u pick all best food. my favourite is lemper, its sticky rice with coconut milk that's why its a little bit savoury and the chicken filling is sweet
It was so good! One of my favs too
I think the "sweet" profile that you tasted in nasi goreng and mie tek tek is from sweet soy sauce. It is a common ingredient to put in lots of Indonesian food. Hard to find it outside the Indonesian dish. I am glad you like it!
Thanks you for tasting Indonesian Specialties such as fried rice chicken satay, rice wrap, tek tek meatball noodles, malang and lemper mukbang, if you Like this food, we are Indonesian, thanks you for trying and eating this food, welcome if you come to visit Indonesia, in Indonesia we are still many more foods full of flavor and variety
got stumbled upon this video, and glad i decided to watch it :) thank you for trying all the foods
Bahasa Indonesia is one of phonetic language, so there is a direct relationship between the spelling and the sound
especially the vowels
for a, like the a of delta, or when dentist asks us to open mouth and say "aaaa". as such, all the "a" of Jakarta and Malang are spelled the same
for i, like both i of India
for u, like both u of Zulu
for o, like the o of bravo, tango
for e, there are 2 variations, which both are present in "enter"
"sate", "goreng", and "tektek" are pronounced using the initial "e"
while "lemper" and "risoles" are pronounced using the second "e"
so it'll take a while to learn which words use which e :)
"simpang" is a shortened form of "persimpangan", omitting its prefix and suffix
it has several meanings, but in this case, the closest one would be "crossroads"
Hai Jessica, i'm Indonesian. Nice to see u testing Indonesian food n i think u cant handle a spice foods like an egg ( balado eggs ) on nasi bungkus. And u must try indonesian dipidip sauces ( sambal )... big loves from Indonesia ❤🤍
The sweet flavor you tasted in the Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng is Kecap Manis, our version of soy sauce, but sweet because we mix it with caramelized palm sugar.
Glad to see your sister is finally showing herself. She's so pretty too! Happy thanksgiving😊
Thank you Juan !!! 💕
As for Chicken satay/sate. They're usually sold as a street food here in Indonesia, and they look completely different than the satay you guys just ate! The meats are smaller but they are quite juicy. And served with the peanut sauce poured on top (or sometimes with Soy sauce mixed with chili pepper) . They do have that smoky flavor which I really like. We usually eat them with rice.
And they are also sold along with Satay made out of goat meat (Goat Satay) and I definitely like them more than the chicken satay.
Nothing satisfies me more than seeing two women eat so much.... 😁 Love U from Indonesia
Hello from Indonesia. The satay meat over here a a lot smaller lol and usually 1 portion consist of 10 satay. Nasi goreng the best Indonesian food.
You must Try MARTABAK , Indonesian pancake , its so delicious
Thanks for tasting indonesian food 🇮🇩
Up
Malaysiapun ada
well the original lemper is wrap in banana leaves and being grill, so it will intensify the aroma and you got the smoky taste..
but i know, banana leaves in US really pricey, while here in Indonesia, we can just chop it out of nowhere..😆
and lemper is usually a savory dish here in Indonesia, but nevertheless glad you enjoy it, that the essence of the food..
Lemper similar like Onigiri and thank you for tasting Indonesian food 😇
glad you like authentic Imdonesian dishes.. there sre hundreds of them you can try..
for lemper, you can pronounce the lem like lam (luhm) as in 'bedlam', and per like in 'per se'. Seen in the video is a 'naked lemper' lol, as it's traditionally wrapped in banana leaf, grilled over fire, and served with the wrapper intact after it's cooled down. The restaurant was probably saving customers the hassle of peeling off the banana leaf wrapping, and some people may not like having burnt shreds of the wrap over their lemper once peeled lol. There are some dishes in Indonesia which are very similar to your Ecuadorian Ayaca (at least by presentation) besides the lemper. Some are savory, some are sweet. I dare say that if an Indonesian (especially from Jakarta) saw Ayaca and had not been told that it's South American, he/she would assume that it's a type of 'Pepes' or 'Arem-Arem', two other dishes of ours.
Nasi Bungkus: this simply translates as 'wrapped rice' or 'rice-to-go' in Indonesian. In fact 'nasi bungkus' is a term as generic as the Japanese Bento: the components other than the rice itself can be just about anything and they don't have to be entirely local/traditional.
Sate/Satay: we don't normally serve sate like that: two skewers of huge chunks of chicken fillet and separate sauce. Here we use smaller cuts and the sauce is spread all over the meat/skewers.
Wow thanks for all the info!
Traditional lemper served without grilling, so i'd say the lemper in this video is closer to its original form.
lemper so good ,it made from sticky rice and chicken on inside. it Javanese snacks
Nasi padang bungkusnya khas banget , cobain makanan indonesia yang lain juga kak, soto rawon dan gule ..👍😁😁
It's nice to see you eat foods from my country, my favorite are lemper and nasi goreng😋
im Indonesian and i went to Simpang Asia, i love their nasi bungkus!
Jessi muchas gracias for try Indonesian foods ...hopefully you both could visit Indonesia someday
I love the way you pronounce Indonesian food.
It could sound funny for Indonesian people who don't really know American accent 😊
Looks like really authentic good Indonesian food :) only im used to the lemper filling being super yellow like chicken curry.. sweet and salty.. my all time favorite snack .. my grandma use to make it all the time.. i also suggest to try ayam rica rica, rendang, babi kecap, pepesan, sambal goreng tempe, rempejeh, perkedel jagun
Trying out middle eastern food is a must!
Nasi bungkus comes from 2 words "nasi" rice, and "bungkus" take away. So usually the side dishes can change
Actually those lemper so big, in indonesia we made it a little like one bite snack, and also it wraped in banana leaves and we grilled it.. so you would taste smoky things and so fragrence.. mightbe banana leaves hard to find so they not wraped it in banana leaves like in original lemper
Ecuador and Indonesia are crossed by the equator line, we both have much in common regarding food ingredients.
Happy thanks giving Jessica 💞 same goes to your lovely georgeus sister I enjoyed watching your vlog the way you intent to taste the different variety of food from different country it was so lovely 🌹🌹🌹 to watch.

Hi Jessica, thanks for trying Indonesian food. Please try Indonesian dessert Martabak Manis and Martabak Telor, I'm sure you're going to like it.
The sweetness came from a special Indonesian soya sauce we call it Kecap Manis or sweet ketchup. It’s made from black soya with many herbs & special Javanese pure Brown Sugar from Palm Trees.
You can buy it in Asian super market. It’s in a bottle.
Only Indonesia who made & use this kind of sauce in almost their popular food especially in Javanese Culinary. It’s bring the authentic & specific Indonesian flavour.

Visit Indonesia.. There's still a lot of food that u can try..
Actually in Indonesia, 1. Sate (the chicken) has flavor, it marinated well, 2. lemper is wrap with banana leaf, 3. Nasi bungkus (wrap rice) combination can be anything but most of the time, its combination of veggies, beef slice/chicken slice, tahu/tempe, egg, sambal, 4. Uduk spelled oo-dook, its rice cooked with coconut milk, 5. Bakso is more delicious when u eat that while its hot, its a flavorful soup, 6. Sweetness is mie tektek probably from kecap (sweet soy sauce), 7. Why the risoles (risol) so brown 😂 and u need to try risol mayo (mayonaise inside risol)
Sorry for my broken english, great video tho🎉
Try Indonesian beef rendang, for me, its the tastiest dish in world...seriously its that good....delicious 😋
I saw the chicken satay lil bit dry ... they supposed more juicy and more tender so while were ate it so moist in mouth ... but hey they do the best for that chicken satay
