Thank you sincerely for this clear, straightforward, succinct review. I've been researching this bag & really want one, even more now! Thanks again sir. All the best to you & yours.
I have really enjoyed my Shackleton the past few years. As soon as I saw it I started working to get one. Had another popular satchel, but immediately saw the Shackleton as the better bag. Handed off the other to a friend who uses it daily. I did a review/load out on mine too.
That's some nice gear! Very versatile. I've had the Hidden Woodsman's Haversack for years and I like it, this has a few more tricks up its sleeve and might be larger. Love that backpack configuration. I should get back on Bushcraft USA. It was hard to get on there when I was working but I could probably find more time w/o guilt now that I'm "retired". (Almost as busy as when I was working.) Thanks for the gear review Jim!
Thanks John! It sounds like you're going to be just fine in retirement, I've never had a problem being busy either, Lol. Hidden Woodsman is another company I've heard only good things about and absolutely get on BCUSA again, we would be better for it!
Hi Jim I’m new to the channel, and frankly pretty new to haversacks. Maybe a silly question but do you think I could fit a small laptop in the Shackleton? I’m unfortunately stuck in the city most of the time so it would be useful if I could use the satchel as a messenger bag. All the best, Chucky.
Hi Chucky, welcome! I think as long as the laptop wasn't more than 12"x 9" it would be great. That back panel has a really nice pad sewn in so it would be protective and as long as you slid something soft, or a thin bit of foam on the other side it should work great. I definitely am enjoying the Shackleton as my EDC and for hikes too.
Learned a neat trick to run it as a backpack if needed ... 👍🏻
Awesome!

Thank you so much and I'm glad the video helped, all the best to you and yours as well!
Nice review. I still like your older stuff the best, so much character!
Thank you, I get it!
That looks like a really well made bag. I wish I could justify getting one, but I have too many bags already.
I understand completely, bags and jackets are a weakness for me

I definitely think it's a keeper!
