I think he was more trying to convey how the question is not necessary. The second the AI doesn't do what the operator tells it to, it is killswitch time. My mom is a programmer and works for WSU, on her side time she creates video games. If she writes a command and the end result is something other than what it should be, she would correct the problem far before the need for a "KS" and definitely far before anything needs to get "blown up." It is an unintentionally(?) ignorant question. I usually don't think that of TC. Interesting interview.

@@mrs.hatfield1451 No, there weren't any ignorant questions. They were posed to lead Musk to respond. What Musk did answer was telling. That his space program REALLY exists to gather intel & hot spot locations of servers. Carlson got fired for THIS. But it will prove to be the most important thing he ever did. There will be a shutdown of the internet. And the fact that people overwhelmingly disagree is exactly WHY it must be done. It's not healthy for humanity. It's not anthropologically, or culturally, sound to continue with something that isn't good long-term. Like all technological fads, the internet will end & be replaced. All kids had to have a fidget spinner. AI and the interweb are not fire, the wheel or aire conditioning, refrigeration, etc. People are genuinely, instinctually, and viscerally put off by Elon Musk for a reason. He has terrifying balls. These kind of people, historically, create the same fear in society. But they are good...and righteous. Your feelings on the subject determine & prove your position. I'm excited for it. Something that *needs* to be talked about, is AI’s role in implementing/advising pandemic policies. How do we know if the WHO and WEF (for example) aren’t using a super intelligent AI system to compose a plan to modify society’s behaviors?
I think it’s naive to suggest that particular groups of advisors/consultants aren’t leveraging AI to achieve agendas that are good for their goals, but harmful to the rest of society.

In a last-minute settlement before trial, the network agreed to pay $787.5m (£634m) - about half of the $1.6bn initially sought by Dominion.
Dominion argued its business was harmed by Fox spreading false claims the vote had been rigged against Donald Trump.

The question about what the threshold would be before governments would be compelled to shut down AI is a crucial question. Even if there were simple failsafes enabling immediate shut downs, just contemplate what that decision might look like in the future. I can imagine a situation where AI generates massive profits and becomes so embedded in the structure of our lives that governments would be reluctant to initiate shut downs, even if some people were being harmed (or worse). Human beings have always tolerated a certain amount of collateral damage when profits, big business and the systems we rely on are at stake. It's not AI that's the root of the problem, it will be our over reliance on it and human expediency at the expense of ethics that we should fear.

But we are also likely opening pandora’s box of misuse. And then like Mr Musk said, what happens when the AI does not want to follow a code or dictate program but rather finds its own agenda to move into a direction or opinion? Maybe Humanity Earth Life depends on the thumbs up down decision of said AI, maybe AI will defend the human interest and our liberty?
