Gotta say I'm much more interested in building around Azlask. Spawns and Scions seems like a really fun twist compared to 5C Good Stuff Panharmonicon.

Lost and damned is Not a good card on Azlask, unless your plan is buiding a terrible jank ramp theme that is
I like the idea of azlask but not as a spawns and scions thing (however i wouldnt completely remove them since they synergise well) I would use him as a 5c experience and proliferate deck.
I was so hyped for the deck and was kinda disappointed that this one strayed from eldrazi stuff and went more into a 5c weenie build, even if ulalek can just be used as a colorless commander the fact most of the deck is just chunked with weenie and some big eldrazi but whitout realy that eldrazi touch is a tad disappointing to me? Only 3 annihilator, none of the 8 titans, no eye of ugin, only 3 better than average cast trigger (2 of which are from the new exclusive cards and one from a 0,50$ card) some dubious inclusion that only made it in due to lore thematic or minimal type match (like imprisoned in the moon because it's emrakul themed or morophon because he was a colorless creature and a changeling for the eldrazi type, he also did well in pading the deck price value)
Then there the weird exclusive card that don't seem to want to realy fit in either weenie or big boy. a 2/9 that swap stats, a 4/3 that life cast an opponent card when it touches, a counter drainer (yes there the upside of cost reduction but eldrazi didn't tend to have much to do with counter, they were more of an exiled card type of tribe) and a confluence whose a mismatch of stuff sometimes seen on eldrazi card or card played in eldrazi deck (generic spawn creation, eldrazi displacer effect or nameless inversion's effect)
@@davidchaput5484annihilator is such a unfun mechanic I’m glad they steered away from that op shit and made it a bit more casual so u can actually play this deck without making people feel miserable. Eldrazi are my favorite tribe and I’m glad they get some love finally with some real backup and if u really like eldrazi u got all the titans at home anyway :D
This deck could have had a lot better reprints for the devoid eldrazi.

100% could have given us any of the titans, a snow covered waist instead of normal, better mana base.
I mean most of them are somewhere below $1 so they're not really in desperate need of reprints. Still would've been good to see some of them in here tho.
@@Skel_cat63 true but there are eldrazi that make a lot of scions like broodmother that they could have included since that was kinda the theme to go wide with eldrazi scions and ramp into the big eldrazi or use the secondary commander to make it a swarm deck.
I have the same ‘false advertising’ feel about this deck that Tomer says he had about the previous Eldrazi precon. If that one was a artifact deck pretending to Eldrazi, this one is a straight Eldrazi deck pretending to care about devoid. SO disappointed…
I'm just sad that there are no Ulamogs, Kozileks, or Emrakul. Also I was hoping the mana base would be better considering the price tag of the deck.

Unfortunately the price tag is set from second hand sources since there isn't msrp, so it depends on how greedy people are rather than what you're actually getting
@ML-yn9yu Why not? They put a $64.24 Planar Nexus in Tricky Terrain precon. That was not necessary. That precon is worth $277 and the Creative Energy precon has $334 worth of cards. Eldrazi is actually the cheapest of the 3. Yes, really! So don't "come on" unless you got a better excuse.

Really happy to see pain lands in the manabase. They are just great for the devoid archetype. I’m kinda surprised by the lack of protection given this is ostensibly a token deck. Still hype to see how this plays out.
Agreed. Worried a lot about the mana base because WOTC was so reluctant to reprint those pain lands until now.
With all those pain lands (and pain artifacts) the mana base looks consistent enough and faster than the sliver 5 color mana base.
Protection will probably the main thing for upgrades, though it still looks powerful out of the box.
I do believe all 10 pain lands are in the precon

Without Eye of Ugin, or any of the Eldrazi Titans, or even something like Void Winnower, there’s no justification for the obscene prices scalpers and retailers are asking.

@bradcallahan3546 it's more about the Manchild who buys them without a second thought. I guess the gambling scene also takes a small part but i haven't been to Vegas or Orleans to see the game state
I just realized that if you just copy Twins of Discord with Ulalek, creatures with either even or odd mana value can't block
15:40 you make 5 tokens per cycle :) 1 during each opponents turn (3), 1 with your untap (4), 1 on your own combat (5) - so it's either 4 and attack with your OG boy, or 5 and presumably the army of 10/10's eats a wrath or wins the game
The reprints were a bit disappointing, especially compared to the other MH3 decks, BUT this really feels like an Eldrazi deck, the two commander options are awesome for their own decks they want to lead. I especially love Ulalek and the fact that it can just run all colorless cards or use any mono color or combinations of colors or all colors. I will run it as simic for card draw and ramp. The land base is pretty good out of the box and it has some cool new cards. It is beyond a doubt the deck I'm most excited to build. :)
Its funny but eldrazi is actually the only penta tribe in magic, they have 4 subtribes: drone, spawn, scion and processor

Fun deck, but you'll need to upgrade the hell out it. If you get it below 100, then the value is great
A side note to the "missing" talismans: one of the head designers recently mentioned that, outside of specific situations (universe beyond mainly, and that planar dice manarock for planechase purposes), they aren't allowed to reprint the same cards in multiple decks (in the same set).
You don’t need talismans in this deck when they have all the cyclemorphic expanse lands edit: in the set

I feel like it is like a fusion of them that is still kind of a baby titan because they got the shit blasted out of them before the fusion rather than them combining at full power

Mutated Cultist is the bane of experience counter commanders. I don't think there is any other card that can remove counters that are on players.
I’m glad I grabbed all the older Devoid Eldrazi that summon the spawns/scions. Azlask is going to be funny in my playgroups lol
Having preordered this deck a while ago (so not at a completely unacceptable price), I'm pretty satisfied with the design. I already had a custom commander at the head of a devoid eldrazi deck, but I'll test this one out and get to a middle ground between the two. I mostly want my mana base to have a colorless color identity for flavor reasons, so I might replace nearly all the lands. Maybe I'll keep the pain lands, as they are painful to begin with, so it could work with the theme of "I have a harder time making colored mana".
I preordered the deck yesterday after finding it on Amazon for 60 which isn't completely terrible. Despite it being lacking in some areas like no Eye of Ugin reprint or one of the Eldrazi titans (I mean Eldrazi Unbound had Kozilek in) I love and commend the idea of a five colour Eldrazi deck. I love how some of the new cards in this deck and the main set gives the Scions and Spawns their own playstyle rather than just being one time mana dorks. I also love the mana base. Finally WOTC makes a five colour precon where the mana base doesn't suck. Is it optimal? No but I don't have to worry about all my lands entering tapped.
Definitely going to be turning this into a Azlask, the Swelling Scourge go wide deck for some shenanigans.

Unfortunately Ruins of Oran-Rief does not work like Oran-rief, the Vastwood, so you can only add one counter to one colorless creature that entered that turn, not all of them. So it's ok at best, would probably replace it with a land that can fix mana instead.
From Beyond is a really nice enchant to make tokens. It costs 1 more mana but it makes scions instead of spawns and also you can sac it any time and tutor for any specific eldrazi spell (for example you can search All is Dust). Its 1 more mana but for being also a tutor in addition the price is much worth. I suggest to add it absolutely cause its really good
I got a few copies of those a while ago and immediately digged them upp in case I had to put one in this deck

Quite excited for this precon - I have wanted to do an Eldrazi deck for a while and the Zhulodok precon irritated me with how little Eldrazi were actually in it. I would brew up my own Eldrazi deck but I was iffy on what commander to use for it (maybe Morophon) and some of the staples for Eldrazi are on a higher end of cost that I am willing to pay. Just lore and design wise I absolutely love these horrifying world-eaters.
This video would have been way better if instead of exposing all the ways these new cards work with old cards, if you explained how it works with the new commander options and how they work with the cards you are paying to get in the precon. Like I don’t care how a random new eldrazi card works with ulamog I wanna know what it does in this deck.
Also since it wasn’t stated for some reason, reprint values are 109.73$ for anything a dollar or greater in value. Honestly after this lackluster video where the content creator is just talking about upgrades to the 175$ precon instead of the cool cards in it, I’m less excited.

you'd make 5 10/10s with Ulamog's dreadsire and sting, because you can make one pre-combat, then untap (attack even) and make another one and then 3 after each opponent's beginning of combat phase
I like to keep these deck as they are but I might actually split it up into two different with Ulalek and Azlask respectively and make one focus on the doubling of the stack and another for the massive horde of tokens. I have plenty of the old devoid Eldrazis to fill in the gaps
Never was a big fan of the big Eldrazi decks, but the token side looks super fun and different.
We're not talking about how Mutated Cultist can remove Experience counters?

A bit disappointed that you didn’t talk about Ulalek’s trigger’s ability to copy other instances of itself.
If you flash in an Eldrazi with an Ulalek trigger already on the stack, paying for the new Ulalek trigger will copy ALL triggered abilities you control INCLUDING YOUR PREVIOUS ULALEK TRIGGERS.
Yup! Exponentially growing the stack is nuts with him!
You don't want to copy the Ulalek triggers. You want to resolve them before you flash an eldrazi in. That way you don't have to pay the mana.
@@NPelham not sure I quite get your plan, mb I'm slow on the uptake here. But the previous idea is to get two eldrazis cast at once before the first ulalek trigger resolves, so the stack looks like this : (whatever you want to copy)/eldrazi 1/ ulalek trigger 1/ eldrazi 2/ ulalek trigger 2. You then let the ulalek trigger 2 resolve (paying for it) and put all the copies on the stack with the copied ulalek trigger at the top: ( what ever you want to copy)/ eldrazi 1 / ulalek trigger 1/eldrazi 2/ (what ever you want to copy) copied/ eldrazi 1 copy/eldrazi 2 copy/ ulalek trigger 1 copied. You can keep putting mana in, resolving the top ulalek trigger, doubling everything on the stack on and on.
Also works with cascade, e.g. if you add Zhulodok from the previous „Eldrazi“ deck.

The moment I saw Azlask I had the idea for 5c Experience counters matter. We have 8 other legendaries many who interact well with each other, just lacked a reason to play all 5 colours before now.
I’ve been waiting a LONG time to get a devoid Eldrazi deck. I’ve had my own version for quite a while. So when I heard they were making a precon, I was like HELL YEAH! Then I saw this…whatever this is. Other than having the word devoid slapped onto the cards (and only about half of those in a supposed “devoid” deck), the cards don’t really seem to care about devoid. Heck, they didn’t even bother to reprint some of the good devoid cards! Where is the cool tech like something saying “if you spent colored mana to cast this colorless spell, then…”. I personally have the same ‘false advertising’ feel about this deck that Tomer says he had about the previous Eldrazi precon.
I'm actually curious if Aslask is good enough for Tribal Tribal, Experience counters will be a bit tough to get but 5 mana to give your team indestructible and Annihilator 1 seems potentially crazy

Question about Vile Redeemer, do you pay one colorless and bring everything back or is it one mana per creature? It looks like it reads one colorless to bring back everything which seems super overpowered.
Glad some buddies and I preordered all 4 and split the cost so we don't get scalped. Definitely going to be fun to have a precon rumble for a night with the 4 of these.

They played on our love for the creature type and overpriced it. Although the new cards may be worth over 100 by themselves. Time will tell. They def should have at least thrown one titan in though.

Confused about how Ulalek's trigger copying works. If both original Eldrazi cast trigger and Ulalek's trigger go on the stack at the same time and you just choose the order to resolve the copy and trigger copy then the original spell trigger then the original spell. But I'm not sure it works that way. If you have to let the copy trigger go on the stack before before the original cast trigger goes on the stack then there's no trigger to copy yet. And even if a trigger becomes available by resolution I'm not sure that helps.
I'm guessing this Eldrazi deck won't be good in a 1v1?

The other precons seemed to be packin heat where a lot of the new eldrazi/colorless spells that everyone is excited for you need to buy from the set, and temples are trash its insulting how expensive these precons are getting and they're gonna put temples in the deck? Tragic still excited for the deck, but not excited to fix this trash mana base

Temples and Ruins of Oran-Rief are kinda bad. Temples are Temples, and Oran it's just a +1+1 on 1 creature, I would prefered another Wastes or even Temple of The False Gods, but the rest seems quite nice

this might be a stupid question but if the scions have indestructible, could you activate their sacrifice for mana ability and get that mana but keep them around

I think he is underhyping Inversion behemoth, it deals with pillowfort players who like to play 0/X walls to protect themselves because you just switch the power and toughness amd goodbye wall or even if it's a low power you can just switch and then bolt it somehow, my friend plays pramikon and he is not going to like me very much bow lol

Overall disappointing. I have a relatively budget 5 color Eldrazi deck already. The reprints are mostly things I already have or things I've already cut. 1 of the 9 titan cards would have made the deck feel much better as a buy, especially with how much hard it is to find for even under $100.
Don't get me wrong, the new Eldrazi cards are incredibly impressive and the deck should be decently powerful and synergistic. But, once again, Wizards misses an opportunity to include reprints that will be a big feel good for everyone who preordered.
Ulalek is so blatantly bottom-tier precon-tuned.
2/5 for 5 mana, zero value right away, requires another spell plus a mana investment on the same turn.

Does the fact that the commander is colorless mean you can only use colorless spells in the deck even though it has wubrg mana symbols?
Any colors on the card can be used in that deck. It has WUBRG in the ability so if it's your commander, you can use WUBRG in the deck.
Colour identify is different from what “colour” the card is (confusing i know)
The card's color identity (a term specific to Commander) is 5C despite it in game being a Colorless card thanks to its Devoid ability. You can run any color spells in your Ulalek deck.

i hae to be a wet blanket, but the reason that standard is dying is becuase of products being too strong that dont exist in standard.
My friend added like 4 cards to the zhulodok and he can cascade like 8 times each time actually crazy plus add a monolith and u have infinite mana

I’m clad I got the foil version for only £110 back when they 1st announced instead of the 165 to 200 they are know because it feel like a rip of value wise. No titan. No filter land and a mana base that looks it it will barely work

I don't understand. Why can they have colored spells? There are no colors on this commander. That's like letting me use a Boroa Recoker in a minored commander deck
The color identity on a card isn't equal to its color.
Ulalek is colorless in all zones (as specified by the devoid keyword), but his color identity is WUBRG/5 color (as specified by any colored mana symbols that appear in his mana cost and text box).
When building a commander deck you always required to build around the color identity, not the color.
@@jonasdietrich8109 but God forbid I put blind obedience in a mono-white deck, even though a b/w symbol is in the text box. WAIT, blind obedience IS allowed in MONO-white. Well, now I'm even more confused
@@thecollectiblecollectabill2298 Yeah this card is a bit weird. Actually the extort in the text box has its ability explained in brackets in italic written so-called "reminder text", which only in found on some cards to communicate new/returning mechanics to players.
Rule of thumb: Look on a card for any colored mana symbols and exclude words/symbols written in italic text.
The rules may be a bit confusing sometimes, but follow a certain logic. There are even more corners cases (double sided cards, split cards, cards without mana cost, ...), but this will do for now.

That's harsh it's definitely worth 100-120 in actual deck value (not just looking at secondary values)
@@filipealmeida7301 A deck is never worth retail because you won’t use the same cards in the same combination outside of the deck. Check the lands deck, or even the energy deck. That has good value with Vesuva, Goldspan dragon etc. The Eldrazi deck retails for more than those two and is significantly worse.
