Thanks for having Caelin in for a visit! We recommend visiting our UA-cam Channel or website (shunyata.com) for some pretty thorough explanations of the technologies and design principals used in creating power and signal solutions for HiFi systems. Cheers!
Just because there are miles of plumbing to get the water to your house does not mean you shouldnt choose the right hose bib, hose and a high quality sprayer. Another way to tell a difference in power cables is the best one will dim your lights the most, because its allowing more current to flow. I changed out the factory 16g wire out of an old Pioneer SX3700 to 12g with HD 20 amp plug and my lights dim 3 times as bad. lol
It's a bit exasperating watching this, honestly. It could probably be half the length if it were organized as a straight, general overview presentation by Caelin, as he probably intended. But this constant interruption with questions that seem to want to fast forward or jump ahead to someone's favorite concept is really annoying. If this were an instructional video of teaching someone to swim, everyone would have drowned 20 minutes in. "Tell me about the rabbits George."
Very good discussion.
LOL!!! I was one of the audiophile guys when I was in the Army back in the 70s (GAS, Denon, KEF) and kept with it since.

Guage and proper ends are one thing. $500 power cords are quite another.
