This tune always demanded lyrics. With a femenine voice, like this. It will always remind me -as usual- to Amaya, my muse. I will always love her, despite her disdain.
@@josej.1163 Yes, there is a brief snatch of this amazing tune near the end of Incantations, played on electric guitar. And unlike all the other tunes on the album, it's not explored in any way - gone in just 40 seconds! So I decided to recreate the missing chant that this tune relates to!
@@GaryHayes You're thinking of the Maypole Song, of course: "And in that nest there was an egg, and in that egg there was a bird..." Kathleen Raine published A Spell For Creation in 1952, about 20 years before Giovanni wrote the Wicker Man soundtrack. Did he 'borrow' from her? Probably not, as the concept had been used in earlier folk songs which he researched. Well worth pointing out though, as they're definitely doing the same thing. Many thanks, Gary!
This works so very well, for me better than the side 3 version. It completes that guitar solo by giving it a new context. This would for me work best if it was the second time, just before the big climatic reiteration of the 8 note progression that defines the album.
It reminds me of the original sally (I'm just a gorilla) from platinum, in that what looked like an abrupt beginning of punkadidle was actually an amazing transition within a piece.
@@johngathercole2328 Yes, I experimented with both, but decided to stick with the Space Movie precedent. One of my other (unreleased) versions incorporates variations of that lovely Incantations 8-note progression. With hindsight, I would have used a couple in my Side 3 version, but hey ho... it's all got to stop somewhere!
I prefer this version to the Ornate Edition due to lacking guitar riffs, which reminded me more of today's Mike (Mike Oldfied 1979 would wipe the floor with today's Mike Oldfied IMO.) And the ending fits better here (although I like the Ornate Edition ending even more as a stand-alone piece). BTW this song would score high in Top 40 today, MO found the perfect music here❤
@@northsta Thank you very much for your interesting thoughts. Some people say the Space Movie version was just a demo that Mike Oldfield never finished. So it was fun to do a simple version, and then develop it in an 'Oldfield style'. Stay tuned for the final part of the trilogy in just a few days! Merry Christmas!
Same to you. Although I know fans who prefer Tubular Bells and Crises, for me albums Incantations, Platinum, QE2 and Five Miles Out alone would earn Mike Oldfield my #1 spot. It's certainly why I love Spell For Creation
Live it mate 👍
This version was used in the space movie soundtrack
esto es una maravilla, el mejor regalo para finalizar el año 2024
Thank you for your kind comment, Lucas! All the best for 2025!

Yes!!! This guitar solo is the perfect crown for the Spell For Creation! Much better like this. 👏👏
@@germanlaguer8257 Thanks for your feedback! I play the first guitar note, then Mike Oldfield takes over, ha ha! Happy Christmas!
@@MikeSladeMusic You certainly made me curious about what the final part of the trilogy could be!
@@germanlaguer8257 Don't get too excited! It's just a remaster of the Ornate Edition... Ready very soon!
Guess you have heard the wicker man soundtrack
