    When I was a kid, mom was trying to help me understand the difference between the Ascension and the Assumption. In my wonky mind, i said, "so one day, no one could find Mary anywhere, so they assumed she went to Heaven". Yep, that was my "understanding " of the word Assumed. Oh my poor mom and dad.

      I believe that Our Blessed Mother is in Heaven but she was brought thereJesus, she did not ascend of her own power. Jesus would not allow his mother’s body, the body that bore Him to decay in the ground.

    I enjoyed tonight’s show. How generous are the Dominican Sisters to minister to Cancer patients. I also loved leaning about Father Lancton, who will b e a major influence on our Marian Novices. I’m amused that he was drawn to the MICs after associating the community with Mickey Mouse. God bless you Father Lancton in your new assignment as novice master. God works in marvelous ways doesn’t He?

    Wow! Midway though watching this, I felt intrigued with Rose Hawthrone Lathrop's life. I read about it and was so touched by her conversion story. From being a haughty aristocrat that could not tolerate anything ugly to a woman who gave up her entire comfortable life to care for those terminally ill patients. I will never forget her inspiring story. God bless you Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, EWTN and the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Concepcion for letting us know about this amazing heroic cause of the terminally ill. May God have mercy on those ones who were abandoned by their own families because of the false belief that they could catch it. I pray that many people would continue to donate to this charity work and help countless more through the years to come.

    This is one of the few biggest hills for an outsider of the faith to climb - which leads me to wonder, at least, why it was made dogma under penalty of the wrath of two of the apostles including Peter.
    You have to believe Mary was assumed into Heaven or you are in schism with the Catholic Church.

    • @alhilford2345
      @alhilford2345 Рік тому +7

      Actually, if you're a Catholic you must believe EVERY Dogma of the Church.
      But you're not expected to understand everything.
      That's where FAITH comes in.
      I don't really understand how planes can fly, but I trust my life to them every time I fly somewhere !
      Nobody can explain how God created this beautiful world out of nothing, but we all believe that it exists.

      @jackross5698 Рік тому +4

      @@alhilford2345 I don’t think those are very good analogies to Marian dogmas in relation to the faithful.
      I’m just looking at it with reason. If not everything is explained in scripture, which is true, and the magisterium can make any oral or written tradition dogmatic, then what is keeping the magisterium from overreaching and turning some traditions into dogmas that may draw the faithful away from Christ or deterring outsiders from entering into the Catholic faith??
      It’s not to say the Marian dogmas objectively draw people away from Christ, but they arguably *could* in theory. And in some instances I think it already has for a few.
      So why make something like that dogma if the risk even slightly outweighs the reward?

    • @alhilford2345
      @alhilford2345 Рік тому

      @@jackross5698:
      I see you point, but the fact is that the Church doesn't "make" dogmas.
      A dogma can be defined as the affirmation of a truth which was revealed by God and accepted from the beginning.
      So, over the years, when these truths, revealed by by God and through His prophets, are challenged by heretics, the Church must defend them by issuing a public declaration, a Dogma.
      Prior to the Protestant Reformation all Christians (who were also Catholics, of course) accepted the Marian doctrines.
      The Church cannot change the truth just to accommodate those who have difficulty understanding it.
      That's what caused the Reformation!

    Are Marian Dogmas Biblical?
    Consider Lk. 1:28, “And he came to her and said, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.”, one can say with certainty that Mary is full of grace. The graces God fully bestows on her are not one, two, three, or many graces but full; so full that if these graces were to be added up, they would be equaled to “the Lord is with you (her).” These graces, to name but a few, have been identified by the Catholic Church as: To be the Mother of God; to be perpetual virgin in her virginal conception of Christ, in giving birth to Christ, and her continuing virginity after His birth; to be conceived without original sin; and to be assumed body and soul into heaven, and all other graces. In short, if there is a grace that the Lord did not bestow onto Mary, she would not be full of grace. Thus, the Assumption of Mary and all other Marian dogmas are biblical for their basis lies in Luke 1:28. By proclaiming these dogmas, all that the Catholic Church did was to make known to the world, especially the faithful the graces the Lord himself bestowed on Mary. Besides these dogmas, there are many other graces or great things which the Lord has bestowed on Mary, Lk. 1:49, “for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” and these can be found in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

    This is total fabrication. It is not supported by historical evidence or biblical evidence. Mary was not the mother of God she was the mother of Jesus, and there is a distinction. Jesus had two very distinct natures he was God and he was man. Mary was only the mother of his humanity. Jesus was eternal Mary was a human being born into history at a specific period of time. I think many roman catholic people mistakenly believe that the title blessed virgin Mary attributes some kind divine nature to her. The word blessed means happy. She was happy because she was thought to be worthy to be the chosen vessel used by God to bring his Son into the world.
    Luke-
    Chapter 1:
    26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 He went in and said to her, 'Rejoice, you who enjoy God's favor! The Lord is with you.' 29 She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, 30 but the angel said to her, 'Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God's favor. 31 Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus........
    45 Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.' 46 And Mary said: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.
    47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; - I encourage every one to read the whole of Luke Chapter 1.
    Mary was also not sinless why would she say in verse 47, that she rejoiced in God her savior.
    The Christian faith should be based on what Gods word says not the traditions of men. The word of God is the final arbitrator on all matters of Faith
    Romans.:- Chap 10.16. But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”
    17.So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
    Isaiah:- Chap 8.20.To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
    The idea that Mary was a perpetual Virgin is also something that is not taught in scripture. Read the following passage in
    Matthew 1:18-25
    18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah happened in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, before they lived together she was discovered to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to disgrace her, decided to divorce her secretly.
    20 After he had thought about it, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” he said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he is the one who will save his people from their sins.”
    22 Now all this happened to fulfil what was declared by the Lord through the prophet when he said,
    23 “See, a virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel,” which means, “God with us.”
    24 When Joseph got up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary as his wife. 25 He did not have marital relations with her until she had given birth to a son; and he named him Jesus. (After Mary gave birth to Jesus, Joseph and her had normal martial relations.In fact they had other children.) This is supported by Passages like:-
    John 2:12; 7:3, 5, 10; After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days. 7:3 So Jesus’ brothers advised him, “Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing. 5 (For not even his own brothers believed in him.) 10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then Jesus himself also went up, not openly but in secret.
    Acts 1:14 All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
    His Brothers and Sisters are even named -
    According to Mark 6:3 Jesus had four brothers (and two sisters): "Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not His Sisters here with us.

      The Bible does not say that Mary Had other children. The Bible says that Jesus had brothers and sisters and the Hebrew word for brothers "ah" and the Greek word for brothers or sisters called "adelphos" can mean simply a near relative or close relative, like a cousin, not necessarily or usually a sibling.

    • @DivineMercy_Official
      @DivineMercy_Official  Рік тому

      Of course Mary needed a savior. She needed a savior to keep her sinless in the first place. In that same Magnificat she states that all generations will call her blessed. Why can't you? Regarding Mary having sin or not, in Genesis 3:15, both Jesus and Mary are said to be in a state of "enmity" against the serpent, which in the original Hebrew means "complete and radical opposition" to Satan. It is for this reason that it is not likely that God would have permitted Mary to inherit the condition of "original sin" from Adam and Eve. Any participation by her in the disorder and corruption of the soul that the rest of us inherit from Adam and Eve would place the Mother of Jesus at least partially under the sway of Satan and evil, and thereby contradict the complete "enmity" between Mary and Satan prophesied in Genesis 3. She still needed a savior to preserve her from sin in the first place because Jesus could not have co-existed with sin in the womb of a woman who had any sin.

    • @johnkeenan9192

      After Joseph had the vision we read these words in Matthew 1.
      Matthew Chap:- 1. 24 When Joseph got up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary as his wife. 25 He did not have marital relations with her until she had given birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.
      The natural reading of verse 25, is that Joseph had a normal marital relationship with his wife after Jesus was born.
      You said and I quote- (In that same Magnificat she states that all generations will call her blessed. Why can't you?) Nothing could be further from the truth. I hold Mary in great esteem and think she is a model of what a Godly woman should be. But I cannot accept the teaching of the roman catholic church that elevates Mary to a position that is not taught in scripture. Can you show me from scripture how that any of the apostles or disciples recognized her as the Mother of God, Co-Redemptrix, Mother of all mercies. These are all titles given to Mary by the roman catholic church.
      The only arbitrator on matters of faith and doctrine is the divinely inspired word of God. Not the traditions of men or some supposedly infallible statement from a pope.
      Isaiah 8:20 (NKJV)
      To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
      Gods word is clear we are not to put our trust in man.
      Jeremiah 17:5 (NKJV)
      Thus says the Lord : “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord .
