    That was one video packed with so many tips on when to repot. 🙂 You’ve covered pretty much everything. I’ve had a cactus that I kept in a small pot for years cause I did not want it to grow too big. What happened? The cactus roots broke the terra cotta pot open! Lol! 😆That is my cactus screaming at me to repot it asap. 🤣

    An excellent and informative video, Lyn. Another sign that a cactus is due a repot is if you use plastic pots and they’re no longer the correct shape lol. I’ve got some in round pots and they’re no longer round anymore, they’re egg shaped 😂 Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Yep! Got a few to do real soon!!! Especially my Euphorbia evansii tree. Gonna wait till I get my new seed from it, Euphorbia evansii x aeruginosa ! My sulcorebutia raushii is a success!!! It was very desiccated from winter & the root mealies. I thought it might fail cause of this , but had to try. After 7 days I noticed it had plumped up!! I grafted on my favorite stock, stenocereus prunosus & a first , a Echinocactus grusonii seedling of which I had a handful of , just for a short stock. The stenocereus reacted quickly!! I remove the band Monday. So happy to save this one!!! I love them!! This is a great video to show all the different reasons why you should repot, or unpot a plant that does does not look like its going anywhere ,or yellow. Important key info!!! Thanks Lyn for sharing this!!!! Good show!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful weekend!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🏵🌿🌲🪴🌻🌴🌹🌳🌷😃👍

    First class information all round,it was needed as I have a few baby's to move on.
    Took 4 'leafs' from a moon stone plant, but no movement in one week,but,as
    It's called dry propagation (I think) I don't have to worry yet,thanks again,Bill.

    Thank you! I love actually seeing you in your videos. I put my Old Man cactus in a new pot about a week or so ago. His roots were coming out of the little pot he came in and I think he's in that peat stuff. I just took him out of his old pot and tossed him right into the new stuff. His roots were too wound and bound to work them apart dry. So I'm waiting until growing time to wet the roots and undo them so I can officially pot him correctly in his new pot. I went a little deeper and wider since I know that his roots will be long enough when they are unbound.

      @@desertplantsofavalon Papier Mache is the PERFECT way to describe it! Yes, the soil is so hard and gray with bits of perlite concreted in. I've watered in the past by taking it to the sink with a light stream of water just turning the pot and letting water flow out until it's very heavy for the pot size and water actually is overflowing on top because it finally got soaked all the way, and waiting for that water to finish draining out of the bottom. I plan to, when the time comes soon to do it, to just take the plant out and sit the roots in water until the peat is fully soaked so I can remove it, and free the roots from their concrete and entanglement. Then, stick it back in it's dry soil I've already plopped it in, with the new pot. I can barely wait! :)

    Hi Lyn, I've been trying to find answers for this question online with no success, but I'm trying to find out if hatiora (which I have heard is now Schlumbergera but I could be incorrect) rosea and other varieties of Schlumbergera such as truncata could be cross pollinated with eachother. If you end up with two blooming plants (rosea and some type of Schlumbergera variety) at the same time and don't mind the experiment, I'd LOVE to see you try to pollinated the two!

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Paula :-D thats wonderful news your Monkey tail Cactus seedlings have germinated, if they are still tiny its best to wait another 3-6 months before removing the bags, they will be absolutely fine as long as there is plenty of space for them to grow and they are not touching the top of the bag, I leave my seedlings in the bags as long as possible as long as there is no signs of any fungus on the seedlings or the soil, once the seedlings are about 2cms in height you can then slowly remove the bags, good luck with your wonderful seedlings, and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday XXXX
