    Hi everyone, just to update you on this project: The parts have now arrived for the engine so I will be starting work on it again soon. Hopefully a video within a month

      I fix mowers and I use parts tree and parts zilla I don't know if you have that there but if you do it really helps me there are diagrams of assemblies and subassemblies and parts they don't make anymore most of the time they have them
      I needed a thrust washer for a (don't remember mower) for the trans no one but parts tree had it in stock

    Those mower were the best! Unlike newer belt drive mowers they don’t takeoff when your going down a hill The variable speed is nice just tend to seize up. I use a newer version with 5 speed trans with a Kawasaki 12.5

    Hey brother. I just want to put my two cents in. WD-40 is super out-dated. Their is far better products for penetrating rust and helping lubricate. Love the videos. Randomly found this channel and it definitely makes me smile. God bless 🇺🇸

    Used to walk behind one of those in my first job. Belt drive was fine if it was dry but if it was raining they were terrible. Squealed and slipped like crazy. Much preferred the hydro. Also three times the money mind you.

    I’m curious, when you see something as bad as this do you think: "Shall I bother?" Or "Oh boy! A challenge!"? Or both?
    I do understand why some people like the silent videos, but I learn so much when you explain what you are doing and why.

  • @daveb1081
    @daveb1081 2 роки тому

    So, this was one of Exmarks very first commercial walk behinds, they offered 32, 36 and 48 I think. The motor doesn’t look super original. Very good find though! Fixed deck machines are cool! Good luck on the restoration!

  • @jfortune06
    @jfortune06 4 роки тому

    Some things that may help you...
    Use a bench grinder with a wire wheel for removing rust / cleaning up parts. It's much faster than a manual wire brush. You just hold the part and move it around against the wire wheel.
    Use a 1/4" impact driver for removing bolts / screws. It breaks the rusty bolts free easier and turns them out much, much faster than a socket wrench.
    If a new carburetor is needed, 99% of the time you can find a cheap Chinese knock-off on Amazon for 1/3 the price of the OEM and they work just fine.

    Greetings from across the pond bro. Great video! I love restorations that involve more engine restore than painting the machine! I think a 36 inch walk behind is well worth the effort! I so look forward to the rest of this restore!!180 pounds for a carb is insane, but I think you can save that one, it looked better in the bowl than I thought it would. The good news is it isn't one of these new shitty plastic ones. Looking forward to next great video! Shared on FB for my other American friends to get introduced to your great videos!

    Rust is very powerful! Don’t be fooled. I’ve recently got an old 1969 international 444 tractor and I was trying to replace the steering wheel but I just can’t get it off😂

    • @thehourglasswithaman
      @thehourglasswithaman 3 роки тому +1

      I don’t know what condition your tractor is in but a couple months ago the ball joint inside the steering column on my 95 Chevy Beretta popped out of the joint that’s on the turn signal lever so I had to take the steering wheel off along with a bunch of other components in order to get back there and I kid you not I did everything to try and get my steering wheel off I hit it I kicked it I yanked on it from outside of the car with the parking brake on I even tried to put a bar through the middle of the steering wheel and tried to push on it to get the steering wheel to pop off and I literally just had to sit there and bang on it for like two hours before it finally popped off and just the other day I sat down in the passenger seat to try and take the center consul out and I noticed there’s actually a crack in the base of the steering wheel near where the metal is on the inside for it to bolt to the steering shaft from me trying to get it off and it’s not like my car has sat years with the doors open or it’s not like it was a flood car or anything all things considered the car relatively has no rust on the actual body
