Please do a video explaining the differences between titanium and ceramic flat irons as well as the pros and cons! You’re videos are always super informative :)
@@wickedgaming91 I’ve used both ceramic and titanium and I’ve heard that titanium heats up evenly which requires less passes through the hair. I’’m currently using a titanium flat iron and very pleased with the results but I do use it on the lowest setting and only pass through my hair one time. I definitely think if you don’t know what you’re doing and don’t understand proper heat settings, you can for sure easily burn your hair whether you’re using ceramic or titanium.
You hit the bullseye about stylists not sharing information and educating his/her clients about how to care for their hair. So thank you for putting it out there for the ones who are not doing their part. As usual, awesome job all the way around. 👏🏾👏🏾
This. I just started going to a stylist late last year after not having a regular stylist, basically my entire life. And I love that she goes through my hair and talks about what she sees and talks to me about my regimen. I just went to see her two days ago and I ended up just pulling the trigger and having her cut off what I knew was just damage that just wasn't going to be fixed.
I have thick 4c hair and your technique is SPOT ON. I know my hair and have had stylists who clearly didn’t know what to do with 4c hair. Can’t tell you how many times I wanted to turn around and say, “what the HELL are you doing”? You cannot use the same tools, products, and techniques for all hair types. Great job!!!
The issue is "professional" stylists who take your money are NOT educated nor are willing to be taught to grow their technique and care, they do not care about protecting the guests hair. They are also fairly unprofessional in their salon practices and very impatient with tools used on a guests hair, causing damage yet claiming it is the guests fault for the damage. Their goal is to book as many clients as they can per day. Many have colorism issues (yeah i said it) and will treat your service roughly if you look a certain way (dark skin) or have coilier hair than others. These are sad realities so where are we to go if the majority of stylists don't have the education you do? I refuse to go to salons and have learned everything from UA-camrs (those who do understand the science, chemistry and make up of the hair shaft) and my type 4c/b/z hair has thrived because of what i have learned online. I have only had poor experiences in salons and lost hair and money due to it,. So many "influencers" also have the bad salon experience that forces them to learn how to do hair on their own. We are in 2021 and we still don't have professional stylists who truly know how to do black guest's hair. i know of maybe 3 nationwide? including you, who i would possibly go to, none of which are in my city. I agree 100%. I stopped going for years and decided to give stylists a chance again recently. First one was super nice but my front section suddenly thinned out after going to her 2 times. The second one didn't bother talking to me beyond the initial greeting and the have a nice day after she got her money.😑 Asking her questions was like pulling teeth, she scratches the scalp with her nails while shampooing, and burned me several times with blow dryer and flat iron. The trim and final results were bomb though! Still wouldn't go back. I found one more stylist I'm gonna try but if she messes up I'm out. That's why I'm here watching silk press videos...just in case.
I am a professional stylist of 20 years and I know all the information that you are giving and yet I still absolutely love looking at your videos! You are the bomb! You are so well versed and so professional! And you explain the science behind the hair and what you are doing and that is key! You are giving me the motivation to start doing my videos! Sending blessings your way! Keep going! 🙏🏾❤️
I’m mixed with a daughter who is more black than white and she has 4c hair and I just learned so much from this video about density and Prosthetic hair. Now I know I really need to make sure I’m using the right products on her hair so it doesn’t damage her hair thank you 😊
That part about finding a reputable hairstylist/ cosmetologist is true. I went to a salon for a silk press and the cosmetologist was mainly involved in silking my hair. At one point, the cosmetologist had to stop doing someone else's hair to prescribe which treatment to use, and that's only because I asked for a different one. The assistant did the washing, conditioning AND blow-drying, WITH THE COMB ATTACHMENT, so my hair was poofy from jump. The silk press came out great, but didn't last very long. To be fair, I didn't wrap my hair the 4th night and the night after that, I put in some flexi rods, which ended up being a complete fail. Now, I have a few looser curls in different parts of my head, thank God they aren't that noticeable. Thing is, this was my first time getting it done. During the silk press, she said that my hair would be more manageable, but I didn't want my hair to be more "manageable"! The fuck! No shade to her salon and staff, but I'll definitely look for a different cosmetologist next time I get the service done.
The method.. The steps... The advise. The clarity... The patience.. The quality and overall set-up of the video (distance from the client & lighting) 😪 ..... and so much more 💜 But above all, I just wanna say Thank you and I appreciate you 🤜🏾🤛🏾

I have tried everything it seems on my daughter's biracial hair. I've taken all the advice, looked up so much info... She is 9 and I just found info on hair porosity. It was like a light finally coming through a tunnel! She has low porosity hair and now I'm on an entire new journey! Thank you so much for the educational info!
Baby!!! I feel like im licensed after this video!!!! Thank you for carefully walking us through tbe process start to finish. Giving us the dos and donts for this. ❤
The level of knowledge any natural will walk away with after viewing your videos will 100% change their lives it has certainly changed mine...I subscribed the day before yesterday and I have learned more in the past 2 days than I have in my entire 6 yrs of being natural
This man is the real deal. He is talented and educated. I'm a retired educator and master stylist, he knows his stuff! I love Everything he's said. Well done, Sir.
As I licensed professional, you give the BEST information and consultations I’ve seen on UA-cam! I want to start my own hair channel as well, and wanted to give positive feedback! Keep up the great work!
I would love to have you as my hair stylist. You are so knowledgeable, and it seems like you love your job. Your voice and attitude are so calming and I would trust you are caring for my hair.!
Kat Graham needs you! I seen a video recently where she was showing her natural hair routine, she really needs someone who knows hair in and out to help, because baby, she doesn't have anyone to help her, she went to the salon all the time as a child and she's mixed and admitted to the fact that her mom doesn't know what to do with her hair. She eventually came to tears over that situation... Its my personal opinion that she needs you or deeper than hair because your both absolutely undeniable with your natural hair. Gifted hands
Brother, you were dropping knowledge in this video, so many times I have watched videos and tried to emulate and it didn't work. And your client's hair is beautiful.
I love how he glides through coarse hair, like butter. Love my hairdresser but the shampoo and hairdresser didnt glide through my hair like this at all😵😟😭😭😱😱😱
That is beautiful!! Thank you for the lesson. So glad that you talked, because some of these videos nobody saying nothing but just doing their client's hair.

You are so thorough with your teaching to where I don’t even want to do my hair. I just need to find you and understand what you’re doing when I’m in your chair! Excellence!
I just discovered your videos and love them! I'm mixed and I love that you talk about how the typing does not really matter as much as texture. Being mixed my hair has like 3 different curl types and multiple textures as well throughout. And I always use different products when I style my hair differently. People always talk about curl type like it's one size fits all and it's always made it a nightmare to find someone who can actually style my hair other than myself.
Thank you for the information. Their are stylists who are now be educated about natural hair. Far to long natural hair had put on the back burner. Bless and keep putting out more content.
You definitely know hair! I have the type of hair that cannot be detangle dry. It's very uncomfortable and it will pull my hair out. I have extremely curly hair and therefore it tangles a lot. Most stylist don't have enough experience to know that my hair has to be wet before it can be detangle. You know your stuff. I love this channel. ✂️✂️✂️✂️🎨🎨🎨🎨👍
Or patience to actually take out the knots or tangles. Not just rip them out. That’s my biggest fear with someone doing my hair. My hair is already fine or(thin) enough. I do not need to be losing any more strands cuz the person I’m paying is frustrated
@@sianmoore1129 why use oil to detangle hair when water is hydrating to hair? I have hair that is extremely curly. If it is detangled while dry, it will pull my hair out.
I cant wait for you to start posting vids again😩🙌🏽. Your videos are ridiculously satisfying to watch and I learn so much, keep up the great work I can tell you have a genuine passion and understanding of hair and more importantly BLACK hair, I love to see it, youre a gem🤎✊🏾
I stay educating my clients about what to do with their hair. I tell them what I see and what I recommend in between the time before they come back to me. The results are amazing when they listen lol
your videos are helping me through cosmetology school. i myself have african american hair but i don’t know how to deal with it so it’s always straight . we don’t learn about african american hair what so ever and all of our clients have either biracial or african american hair . thank you so much for what you post
I just discovered your channel tonight and been watching your videos back-to-back. 😊 LOVE your talking because you teach! Very informative. I typically don't like talking because most people ain't sayin' nothin' lol. But yah, I'm enjoying your pearls of hair wisdom, keep 'em comin. ❤😊
Thank you thank you thank you my hair is similar to this and I APPRECIATE YOU soooo much!!! Keep these people informed because I’m tired of people messing up my hair!!!!
Yes I want to hear his opinion on fine hair!!!! My fine hair is why I don’t go to the salon because they love to use high heat and titanium tools on me, which breaks my hair out.
@@jadasjourney1433 yea I’m 7 years natural and I wear my hair straight but between it being 4c and fine and having to use heat to get it straight, I’m actually going back relaxed. It wasn’t until I learned that I had fine hair was part of the reason my journey wasn’t working out. My hair can’t handle a lot.

Love your videos! But once I get to my length goals (and you finally start coming to ATL) I'll be booking with you! I'd also love to see more vids from you on general education for at-home naturals-- how to properly tend to our ends at home, deep conditioners you approve, your opinions on clay masks, etc.
I’m a white girl who struggles with keeping my hair straight. Totally obsessed with watching how straight and shiny you get your clients hair. Love your informative videos even though a lot of this doesn’t apply to my hair type.
Honey let me tell you... you’re a breath fresh air. Beyond being an amazing stylist you’re an educator! I can listen to you talk about hair all day. I had to subscribe. Please keep the content flowing.💕
I need to see you do a thorough silk press video on naturally dense high porosity hair. After watching your videos and listening to how knowledgeable and passionate you are about your skill, I trust no other youtubers.
I love your technique and your way of thinking. I love that you detangle before going to the shampoo bowl which is how I do my own hair. I can't seem to stress it enough to hairstylists that it's important to get those tangles out prior to shampooing. I also have very high density hair and section etc.
I love these videos. You taught me how to blow dry my girls and my hair straight. I was shook after I used your process. Thank you fo the education. Please do a video on products and processes to use to keep hair healthy in the natural state.
I’m so obsessed with your videos!! As a newly licensed cosmetologist!! They are GOLDEN! I’m still trying to master holding my iron and comb while I straighten! My hands are just so small lol!
Thank you so much for a professional to teaching and educating me because my 9 yr old daughter hair is hairing I have tried to many products and nothing works for her 4 type hair I found a new product not sure if I can say the name I love it so far and first product that has the hair type is printed on the product after watching you I feel confident thank you

Okay so I went and bought that paddle brush a few hours after I watched this video 😂😂. Ladies, that brush is the BOMB! Thank you so much for showing us that! It’s a true game changer and he’s right, the ceramic plates on the brush really do work with the heat of the dryer. It’s way better than the famous denman brush. I picked it up at Ulta for 20 bucks.

People always talk about curl type like it's one size fits all and it's always made it a nightmare to find someone who can actually style my hair other than myself.
The next time im in the Chicago area i am bringing you my 9 year old daughter and myself! We need you!
Thank you for the information. Their are stylists who are now be educated about natural hair. Far to long natural hair had put on the back burner. Bless and keep putting out more content.
Now THIS is a why you ONLY got to a professional!!!
Thank you for a thorough education.
@@_kjanae_ detangle with oil. JBCO or hemp oil
Wetting the hair breaks the Hydrogen bond which can lead to mechanical damage. Use hemp or JBCO oil
@@sianmoore1129 why use oil to detangle hair when water is hydrating to hair? I have hair that is extremely curly. If it is detangled while dry, it will pull my hair out.
@@sianmoore1129 the only other option is moisture, not oil. Oil seals in moisture.
Where are you based?
Yes!!! A natural hairstylist that knows what the heck he's doing!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
That is so sweet the way your client came up to greet you I love it 🥰
your
videos are helping me through cosmetology school. i myself have african american hair but i don’t know how to deal with it so it’s always straight . we don’t learn about african american hair what so ever and all of our clients have either biracial or african american hair .

"You may have less cuticles." I don't know why but that made me chuckle.
I enjoyed this vid and info.
I’m a french hairstylist, and I think that thanks to you, I’m becoming a better silk press expert!!! You are a 100% percent boss sensei!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥
That's my hair, everything he says is on point. 💯
You definitely are an educator! So much knowledge your sharing thank you it sets you apart from the others intentionally or not.
Keep these people informed because I’m tired of people messing up my hair!!!!
pls do a silk press on low porosity, fine hair!
Yes I want to hear his opinion on fine hair!!!! My fine hair is why I don’t go to the salon because they love to use high heat and titanium tools on me, which breaks my hair out.
@@MsStarryNights exactly my issue, thought I was the only one! Don’t see much about fine black hair on UA-cam
@@MsStarryNights check out Cyndolls channel also a great retired cosmetologist
@@MsStarryNights check out seun okimi on here she’s an expert on relaxed hair and retaining length (her hair is really healthy & longggg) tips, etc. Blessings on your journey 💕
Love your videos! I have a head of super kinky coily hair (resisting the urge to hair-type myself haha) and I've never straightened it before-- I'm TERRIFIED of walking away with a head full of fried keratin. But once I get to my length goals (and you finally start coming to ATL) I'll be booking with you!
I'd also love to see more vids from you on general education for at-home naturals-- how to properly tend to our ends at home, deep conditioners you approve, your opinions on clay masks, etc.
Your back with another silk press "cause you are so GOOD at it "!💆💇🙆
I’m a white girl who struggles with keeping my hair straight. Totally obsessed with watching how straight and shiny you get your clients hair. Love your informative videos even though a lot of this doesn’t apply to my hair type.
Your opening took me out!!!! Bruh you were looking around 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honey let me tell you... you’re a breath fresh air. Beyond being an amazing stylist you’re an educator! I can listen to you talk about hair all day. I had to subscribe. Please keep the content flowing.💕
Praise the Lord,
You are very talented. Keep shining my brother. Her hair is beautiful along with your other clients 🙏💖🙏
Thank you. I just finished cosmetology school and I love the fact how professional you are. I’m still learning. I appreciate you!!!
It's so good to see a hair stylist that can do hair, wish you were in the south.
So nice to see the face behind the well educated stylist 😍😍
I need to see you do a thorough silk press video on naturally dense high porosity hair. After watching your videos and listening to how knowledgeable and passionate you are about your skill, I trust no other youtubers.
Scientific facts. Period! Hair Gawddd
I dozed off & woke up to this notification. I’m Happy is an understatement
I agree..I don't in to all those hair types...hair is hair.. some hair has a loose curl pattern and some has a tighter curl pattern... great video!!
I love your technique and your way of thinking. I love that you detangle before going to the shampoo bowl which is how I do my own hair. I can't seem to stress it enough to hairstylists that it's important to get those tangles out prior to shampooing. I also have very high density hair and section etc.
Her hair is sooo well maintained. I can see by thr twist. No heat damage detected.
I love these videos. You taught me how to blow dry my girls and my hair straight. I was shook after I used your process. Thank you fo the education. Please do a video on products and processes to use to keep hair healthy in the natural state.
That's a lot of hair... she doesn't lose much hair. Beautiful!!
Where have you been all my life? I really enjoyed watching this and learning so much from you as well.💜💜💜
He said what he said and what we needed to know about our hair . This was amazing, and very professional. Definitely have my subscription 👏❤️
I’m so obsessed with your videos!! As a newly licensed cosmetologist!! They are GOLDEN! I’m still trying to master holding my iron and comb while I straighten! My hands are just so small lol!
Thank you so much for a professional to teaching and educating me because my 9 yr old daughter hair is hairing I have tried to many products and nothing works for her 4 type hair I found a new product not sure if I can say the name I love it so far and first product that has the hair type is printed on the product after watching you I feel confident thank you
Beautiful! It means so much when the artist cares and takes the time to teach. I'm so glad that I found your channel. Keep doing what you do. And Thank You for sharing!
Take care and stay safe everyone! 🤗
Thanx so much for watching!
Trav be TALKING! I love it 💖.
Education is the key! I'm so happy I found you on UA-cam and I can't wait for my appointment!
@travellelavar please just do a video on general maintenance for different porosity hair pleeeeeaaaaasssseee 🙏🏾
Me too.
Do you know the flat iron he is using in the video
Love it, but then I've looked at every video you've posted and they never cease to amaze me!
As always thanks for sharing💜
Grace and peace
Christ's blessings to you!
