There’s a few script kiddies out there that seem to only target private lobbies I know that one is called grincher and another called failure(?) the worst they can do supposedly is send you some really silly mail to crash your game and stuff, don’t ever open this mail, another good idea is to create a backup save of your game in case they ever do silly stuff before you can close the lobby. Just block, avoid, and move on 👍

Heyo, I'm a (somewhat) smart Programmer, and this is what i have to say: Theres a Save Editor for that Game, so if a script kiddie would steal your rod, you can get it back. And the IP thing is definitely of great concern. Use a VPN if you can and the "Dynamic IP" thing is a real thing, but it still reveals where you live. But they luckily can't hack your PC or any of your Accounts because that's not how networking works. I'd recommend using some tools to force the game offline, so that it can't connect to the internet. Could be a hassle to set that up, but you could use a mod to do that if that exists. Apparently, they can also corrupt your Save Data, but i highly doubt it, but it depends on if the game is P2P (Every Computer basically talking with eachither) or C2S (a server that does the networking stuff) because if it's C2S, then it's very very unlikely that they can CORRUPT your save, but if it's P2P, that definitely is a concern and with a P2P game, they WILL be able to get your IP! @@Fish609 I can confirm. I had this happen last night on my twitch stream with a scripter. They posed as air traffic control listing the IP location, weather and told us to stay safe! I also seen 2 days ago another person on a reddit post had the same person do the nearly the same thing and another bigger content creator last night by the name of guqqie got hit too on their twitch stream. The best we can do is use a vpn and blacklist them it seems until security is improved.
Since I have ttv in my steam name we also thought the person was possibly checking the livestream and see me all confused and stuff. Could have been funny

They was just playing with mods installed and some mods may break the game for the clientside players that have not installed them. That's why that player became invisible. Also, LucysTools it's completely safe and harmless for everyone. The mod just make possible some things like using *BBCode* (text tool used by Godot, the game engine Webfishing uses) The things you can do with that are harmless because they are just cosmetic. With LucysTools mod you can change *your nickname* (Not others) to make it pretty. The player in this case put a string like this "Hacker to make the """hacker""" thingy in their username. There's nothing to worry about. And this is not the first time a player gets so scared by something modded lol, Also. If the entire chat is affected by the """"hacker"""" it's just because the guy sent a message using bbcode and forgot to close the tags lmao. Also, you shouldn't worry about these type of things because the only way the can do something bad to your savedata is making you make something else like a weird bug or something. Mods can NOT change the inventory of someone else.

most he can do is delete your fishing rod which you can get back with mods or editing your save file

a method i use is to decompile the game entirely, that works too xd (isnt that hard since you just need a godot addon to emu steamapi)
As far as I know they only bother private code protected lobbies.
If you're worried, use friend only.

if someone you dont know joins your priv server, LEAVE INSTANTLY. it might be an exploiter/hacker and will delete your data
