i honestly find the whole concept of cryptids in webfishing kinda cute? like how given the chance, some people like to play as mysterious creatures, from what I've seen they're usually not malicious and are just having their own fun. i personally came across one, but it seemed they had already broken character when i joined, they were running a couple mods that let them fly out to sea and look at us with their eyes poking right out of the water. it was overall a goofy experience. it's kinda charming how much the frankly really simple cosmetic system lets you play characters of all kinds. for crying out loud i once met a person who was doing cosplays of characters, once even dressed up as postal dude and came waving a golden scratch off game prying to sign his petition lol.
One spoke to me. I-I told it- he-... It, everything. I was scared and discomforted, sh-shaky and lonely. It... It found me hiding in a bush, sat down and started talking to me. Can you imagine... Coming up against the thing you're scared of the most and realizing you have nearly everything in common? I-I didn't feel that scared after that. They comforted me and made me feel safe. The dark, cold, lonely void... Made me feel warm again. I made a friend that day. And, y-y'know what? I'll be DAMNED if I don't pay them right back for the protection and love they gave me.
Interesting video. Small point about herobrine, a part of what made the original hoax so successful was the fact that it was done before multiplayer had been introduced. The idea of suddenly not being alone in your minecraft world was deeply alien and unsettling. Nowadays it doesn't hit so hard since people are used to seeing other players in their worlds. As I recall the hoaxer did it by repainting the door texture to look like a steve with white eyes.
Has anyone here met "The Fishmonger" They seem to be a person pretending to be an NPC, honestly the way they pretend to be an AI is way creepier than the usual shy cryptids.
I just met one yesterday. He was playing as someone's shadow for a good while, but after some hours of us joking about it, naming him "Spalsg" (someone tried to name him splash..) and playing some music on the guitar, he started talking with us and said we were his friends. Happy ending for us all
my theory: people with social anxiety who want to participate but are too scared to chat. Sometimes its awkward when someone hangs around but wont use their mic or chat so turning that into a character seems to be a good way to bypass the awkwardness.

Cryptids just sound like me standing around in VRChat trying to figure out how to talk to people and then running away when someone actually talks to me.
I had a meeting with a cryptid in a public lobby yesterday, though they were a little bit... different. They did interact with me, but only by pushing me into the water whenever I mentioned their existence and scattered off by the time I was back. They also sent a lot of symbols on chat instead of talking. They're very silly, I love them

ive encountered one that had a mod that enables them to play the guitar without actually equipping it, it would play a note from time to time and would just stay at a part of the map where there was small puddles and fish there. it definitely was a creepy experience being lured in by the seemingly random guitar notes
Oh, so people do this in other games? I've been getting bored with tf2, so just for fun id go into lobbies and change my name to The Observer wearing nothing but the big eye cosmetic(the one that turns your head into an eyeball) and while t-posing I'd just watch people play from weird spots of the map. I would just watch until someone walks up to me, then play some creepy sound thru the mic and leave the lobby so it looks like I vanished. If I even bought this game I'd do the same thing the cryptids are doing. And, does that make me a cryptid in tf2? Interesting...
i did the same in old roblox games, sfoth original, crossroads (though i haven't had the best results there) and more recently temple of brickbattle's game, roblox hq
I think the night before Halloween I actually found a cryptid, it was a white cat with bulging eyes and a creepy smile. He was creeping up behind me and once I saw him I began messing with him. Then I wore his exact outfit and we even took a photo. We tried scaring others then put on our normal clothing and started fishing with others.
2:25 by not interacting you are interacting, they see it and react to it and that moment in time when people do notice you and react, thats the best part.
This just reminds me of something i used to do with my friend groups or family. I'd get overwhelmed by the social engagement and pacing of what we were doing so I'd run up ahead then hide and stalk them lol I just liked observing others and not always being an active part of the group Plus surprising them when i finally felt ready to join again was really fun
Honestly i got webfishing for the first time just to let out some steam on a offline lobby and the text "What was that....? " appeared on my chat box and it freaked me out so much i decided to explore the offline lobby by curiosity.
That prompt was probably green, right? That means an asteroid has landed in your lobby! Fishing the spot where you see a seemingly brown rock about the size of your character will give you the Dogfish. ^^
I suppose I've done a "criptid" in webfishing, but not in a creepy way. I make myself entirely brown with no nose/mouth and sit on the docks. I perfectly blend in with the docks and I just find it amusing when someone said they just didn't notice me for a few minutes. I do still chat and stuff though.

This was the first person I believe to do something like this and other black skins have tried to imitate but the true VOIDCAT arg was super interesting and had an amazing ending. And I hope others can make a good story around this game
This is a nice video! I was hoping to see the white cat with scary eyes you kept using in this video because I’ve ran into that user before. Went by a name similar to “webf1sher” and just followed my group around. I led them to the store void and we all hung out there for a while before they left. That was my first spooky user encounter and ever since then I’ve replicated their look when playing with friends.

lmao I love how many videos there are on this. Ive been playing the game since release and due to a font glitch that made me have no name, I decided to go all black and give it the closest thing to herobrian eyes I could. Ive been seeing more and more people doing things like it, and I think its hilarious. though I dont stalk people its still funny how of put some people get by it.
hes just some random hacker part of the grincher team that joins random lobbies and leaves at random, he cant really do much i know because ive had him just randomly join
once I was fishing in the void for about 10 minutes till I noticed a subtle shadow literally right next to me, for some reason the name tag wasn't showing for quite some time and the sheer presence of that thing there made it so unsettling I just left
Edit: I didn't notice it at first but its actually xhsea thats in this video 😅 It's kinda crazy how one of the guys on my steam friends list went around screwing with people and calling himself grincher and ending up in many of the images and posts people put out. All for a joke as he wasn't the "real" grincher. He got banned from every single lobby 😂
i saw one of these, some other people had formed a cult to fight it, and it left then came back with gold glasses and said it was too drippy to be evil anymore

This is crazy because I experienced a voidcat just the other day and none of us knew what was happening but I thought it was hilarious. We named him bob and we just kept following him lmao
lol, i used to be a cryptid when i played webfishing by myself without my friends, and i genuinely didn't know there were other people like that too, i usually act like described because, i don't like socializing, unless someone strike a conversation topic i'm interested in or can joke my way into. But during my cryptid gameplay i would draw figures, and get people to get in the void with me, which was a really fun experience, trying to communicate with as less verbal communication as possible. anyway, that's a cool vid lol
Oh I think I saw one of these 'cryptids' a few days ago. I joined a random lobby that advertised constant rain and was grinding rain fish. After about an hour or so a random person joined with no name and a skin similar to voidcat (but had antlers). The player only responded to people with emotes and things like question marks in the chat. I didn't see them stalking anyone and in fact I do remember them using the tambourine and showing me a very large creature they must have caught from the void. I wasn't paying all that much attention but they didn't seem creepy. It's a cute little urban legend the game has.
Saw a cryptid in a server once and instantly befriended them. I chatted to them and gave gifts even though they just stood beside me and listened. They randomly gave me a kiss as well.
very well put together, if you want a horror game that combines these elements of isolation, loneliness and fishing, give Mysteries under Lake Ophelia a try, that game is very, very good.
i thought this was gonna be some arg or like real life stalkers in a kids game, and here i am, watching 15 minutes of an adult man talk about people fucking around in an animal crossing knockoff. i guess it was interesting xD
I've started regularly joining a server called 'web fishing and serial killing' that usually has anywhere from 10-20+ players. Sometimes this guy < blank > will join who's just a black cat with those large eyes and will always emit this low rumbling sound even when they're not typing. They just stare at players and do this while occasionally moving slightly for anywhere from a few minutes to almost half an hour in my experience.
Well shit. I thought about making a character that looked like a deer, sit in the middle of a demonic summoning circle, and waiting for someone to find find me. I just wanted to freak people out for fun.
i was fishing in the void a few weeks ago when someone without a name joined my game, it spawned in the void and started growing in size before it just suddenly left
I remember one time while playing webfishing and some guy named "the air trafficker" or something in the lines. Just woke up from a nap, kinda forgot the exact name, but yeah, Something in the lines. And when I left the original lobby that I was in, I made another one. But this "the air trafficker" joined me in the 2nd lobby.
I had an experience playing with my friends where some random person would join every single new lobby we made, couldnt find this person at all but they were always there. Creeped us out so we stopped playing.
This feels like a Team Fortress 2 observer, but a lot less limited with a game like webfishing that has such a calm and casual playstyle and without a time limit.
wanna know what would be cool? with the new void area, if your alone and you went there atleast once cryptids would spawn, once theyre on a quarter of your screen they vanish and make a very faint wind sound or breath (ambience and music would stop for one minute after this)
They arent that bad, I had a black cat with giant eyes and creepy mouth and no name staring at me from behind a tree, then after that we ran around and hit eachother for sillies and they gifted me a giant fish. :3
i encountered a featureless white cryptid cat in a random public lobby today... first i tried chasing after it and barking, then it landed on the roof of a building and we had a brief staring contest, then i tried slowly approaching and rhythmically playing the tambourine... eventually i thought "if you can't beat em, join em" so i changed my outfit to a featureless white dog to match and we sat in the bushes together. eventually i sent them a letter with a void fish and they sent me a friend request on steam so. i think the way to befriend a cryptid is to match their freak :3
i had someone in my game who came up to me and asked if i was alone i said no he then asked if i felt like i was being watched i, dressed as a green alien at jokingly said i was the one watching out of no where he said THE VOID IS ALWAYS WATCHING and left no user name black fur with one of the patterns filled with white
This made me realize that I found a cryptid when I was playing last night and like I just started playing and had no clue that it was supposed to be scary so I jumped around them and meowed until they meowed back 😭 im so sorry big dawg I didnt know you were trying to be scary
honestly this randomly showing up in my feed is really funny to me because i had the same idea when i got the midnight color and im just figuring out that other people have been doing the same thing so "erm i was the first i did it first you guys are all copying me" but yeah honestly this is pretty funny

I love how much players from tf2 moved in webfishing
lol, i used to be a cryptid when i played webfishing by myself without my friends, and i genuinely didn't know there were other people like that too, i usually act like described because, i don't like socializing, unless someone strike a conversation topic i'm interested in or can joke my way into.
That was me lol, it was funny af
[Yeah, no joke i remember doing that on the server]
This makes me feel like this will make more types of cryptids to appear
Saw a cryptid in a server once and instantly befriended them. I chatted to them and gave gifts even though they just stood beside me and listened.
They randomly gave me a kiss as well.
very well put together, if you want a horror game that combines these elements of isolation, loneliness and fishing, give Mysteries under Lake Ophelia a try, that game is very, very good.
i thought this was gonna be some arg or like real life stalkers in a kids game, and here i am, watching 15 minutes of an adult man talk about people fucking around in an animal crossing knockoff. i guess it was interesting xD
bro dropped this masterpiece and dipped
I've started regularly joining a server called 'web fishing and serial killing' that usually has anywhere from 10-20+ players. Sometimes this guy < blank > will join who's just a black cat with those large eyes and will always emit this low rumbling sound even when they're not typing. They just stare at players and do this while occasionally moving slightly for anywhere from a few minutes to almost half an hour in my experience.
They remind me of TF2 players that join 24/7 2fort servers and go 'A pose' and just observe people from a distance for an hour
Theres also a dude named
StingrayWizard whos gone around in private servers and public ones. Giving gifts and just leaving
I adopted one of these goobers as my webfishing son and he told me something about the blessed everlasting society
I find a 10 minute deep dive of just random cheaters in webfishing so funny
I did this once unintentionally I was just people watching to see what spots people usually fish at/.
I think there is a cetrain type of "creepe design" that is cute, like it is ment to be creepy but is also kinda cute.
really engaging video! you had me wishing that there was cryptids!!
We exist.
-sincerely, a cryptid player
wow actually just saw one of these for the first time the other day. It was just standing in a bush.
Well shit. I thought about making a character that looked like a deer, sit in the middle of a demonic summoning circle, and waiting for someone to find find me.
I just wanted to freak people out for fun.
wow thats was really interesting but also creppy notg gonna play webwishing alone for a while :'D
i was fishing in the void a few weeks ago when someone without a name joined my game, it spawned in the void and started growing in size before it just suddenly left
casually catching a while with fishing rod 10:10
WELP! I'ma make a character out of this and just chill in the void giving cryptic messages to any that come into the void.
Very easy to identify that, you my friend encountered a hacker
I was wondering what some guy was doing walking slowly at the path and thought it only happened in that server lol. I even took 'selfies' with them
I had an experience playing with my friends where some random person would join every single new lobby we made, couldnt find this person at all but they were always there. Creeped us out so we stopped playing.
I got visited by Air Traffic Controller on my first and only multiplayer play.
In a private room.
This feels like a Team Fortress 2 observer, but a lot less limited with a game like webfishing that has such a calm and casual playstyle and without a time limit.
wanna know what would be cool?
with the new void area, if your alone and you went there atleast once cryptids would spawn, once theyre on a quarter of your screen they vanish and make a very faint wind sound or breath (ambience and music would stop for one minute after this)
Betting that Webfishing has gonna have its own Cult one Day
They arent that bad, I had a black cat with giant eyes and creepy mouth and no name staring at me from behind a tree, then after that we ran around and hit eachother for sillies and they gifted me a giant fish. :3
i encountered a featureless white cryptid cat in a random public lobby today... first i tried chasing after it and barking, then it landed on the roof of a building and we had a brief staring contest, then i tried slowly approaching and rhythmically playing the tambourine... eventually i thought "if you can't beat em, join em" so i changed my outfit to a featureless white dog to match and we sat in the bushes together. eventually i sent them a letter with a void fish and they sent me a friend request on steam so. i think the way to befriend a cryptid is to match their freak :3
I had a void cat admire my art felt honored
i had someone in my game who came up to me and asked if i was alone
i said no
he then asked if i felt like i was being watched
i, dressed as a green alien at jokingly said i was the one watching
out of no where he said
THE VOID IS ALWAYS WATCHING
and left
no user name
black fur with one of the patterns filled with white
This made me realize that I found a cryptid when I was playing last night and like I just started playing and had no clue that it was supposed to be scary so I jumped around them and meowed until they meowed back 😭 im so sorry big dawg I didnt know you were trying to be scary
that honestly mightve been me since ive been rocking that full white cat w the catsoup eyes and just afk on places
honestly this randomly showing up in my feed is really funny to me because i had the same idea when i got the midnight color and im just figuring out that other people have been doing the same thing so "erm i was the first i did it first you guys are all copying me" but yeah honestly this is pretty funny
thats Mumli, hes harmless and he will show u peace
