How We Raise and Sell Chickens On A Small Scale.

One of the income streams on our small holding is selling broiler chickens. This video is a more in depth look into the process of raising the birds well for meat. We have a couple methods, one batch is raised on pasture and the others are grown in a more conventional system. We mainly sell to markets and friends and family at this stage but once our infrastructure improves we can scale up.

@@bigmamarosso not going to lie, not easy, at least for me. Really thought if I could hunt I could do livestock easy. Not really, hunting you are kind of detached, when you are killing a chicken you see a very distinctive personality. Anyway this was a midlife crisis after my wife left me and now they kind of became my therapists. I'm sure you could do it but its a huge investment in time. I will get back into it eventually but I'm just going to stick to taking their eggs. Good luck.

Would be nice if the chickens had the option of running around during the day, like the Farmer Angus moveable trailers at Spier. Does require moveable fencing though.

Tractors are as good or better. They get new land every day, and they work as little permaculture soldiers prepping the land for gardens and beds and growing food, ewti vs parasites etc. The setup at spier is good for what they are doing though. For me, we need to do tractors to protect our indigenous held but also to protect them from the million forms of predator we have
