- Hey all, Something a bit different today. We all know just how great a guitar player Lindsay Buckingham was (and still is), however it's usually his finger picked acoustic playing that gets the majority of the love from the guitar fans out there. That said, he was also a fantastic and melodic soloist, and that side of his playing often gets overlooked. He wasn't overly flashy, but he had a keen sense for phrasing, note choice and melody in his solos, all key components in the solo that we'll be looking at today, the solo to You Make Loving Fun.
Hope you enjoy the tutorial.
Cheers, KDA

Lindsay's leads are so tasteful, thanks for the great lesson !
So happy to see you doing a Lindsay Buckingham song. Always thought he was an underrated guitarist. His licks and solos were always catchy and attractive to the ear. Basically, simplicity at its best.😎
Nothing simple about Lindsey’s style. He has very atypical phrasing and his picking style is like that of a banjo player. Him and Knopfler are the most unique and melodic rock guitarists I’ve heard.

Everything you wrote in the description is spot on Kelly. This is one of many great examples of his electric work and tasty soloing.
Just what I needed! THX!
Very cool, thank you for this content.
I printed off the tab now. Thanks for the video, you must really love that prs. They make some good guitars.
I wonder if this time Lindsay was using his Dumble?
Of course Lindsay amazingly did this all finger-picked.
Me if I tried to attempt that I would definitely need a regular pic LOL.
Nice playing, what effect is using the lead guitar in the original version? A rotary speaker pedal maybe? Thanks
Nice work! Is there a tab somewhere for your version?
Hey Kelly
Do you offer private zoom lessons for an intermediate player?
Doesn’t Lindsey play without a pick and with his fingers? ❓🤔
he does, but he gets a real picking sound in these studio versions.
Your chorus guitar part is not entirely correct: notes yes, rhythmics no
