Helpful video! I'm trying to get my swamp cooler cleaned up. Putting "rust converter" where rust is in the pan and on support legs. Going to put "cooler coating" on the pan after that. Think I'll take off that big wheel and cover it with the rust converter as its all rusty. Do you know if I can use that rust converter on spots on the motor itself? Some youtuber put the "cooler coating" on the blower blades as well. He didn't say how he did it. Not sure I'd want to do that. What do you think? Then I'm going to repaint the entire exterior of the unit as it's gone from beige to sporadic gray. Kind of fun doing this if I can do it right. I'd love to see a video on you redoing your unit as you said you were going to do. My media pads are 5 yrs old so I'm going to replace those. Right now trying to get the hard water deposits off the outside grate. Used a screwdriver to get the bulk off and now have been spraying with vinegar. Lime Away didn't work nor "grout haze remover" HD recommended. Money wasted on those products. When I get it all cleaned up I'm going to do as one youtuber suggested putting a capful of Downy each week in the water tray to keep the media pads free of deposits and makes the house smell nice at the same time.
Would a belt with the wrong tension cause the blower not to blow as well? Belt on mine broke and maintance fixed it, but ever since then it doesn't blow as well and it's like the fan is on low (even tho it's a single speed motor)
hello ! very new to all of this . i was loosening and tightening the bolts and it broke off completely from rust. not sure how to tighten a new bolt onto it because i cant reach behind and use a nut to tighten it. do you have suggestions? thank you
mooninite133 I ran into this same problem yesterday while trying to replace my belt. I thought I was screwed, but just decided to drill a few larger holes on the fan housing right above where a new screw would be drilled in. I made the hole just big enough so I could slip a finger or 2 behind the housing with a new nut. Its a little bit of a janky fix, but it worked. I also realize you asked this question a long time ago, but hopefully this is of some help to you.
my homart window fan belt looked like that too yeah I at the time i it worked then it looked like that and worse so i had no idea what size and also had no idea that i could show them what the belt and know that they could tell be the size i just took it to see if i could estimate the size to get so my dad and i got the 20 inch one at Lowes man it was so tight it wouldn't even move because it was so tight so after a while i had made it into a figure 8 and thing that held the motor to the stand became a little looser to where it could turn really fast as it was in the window turned into a figure 8 to where it would spin backwards turned it a 3rd time and that made it become disconnected from the mount to where it was just sitting there with nothing holding it down so i couldn't use it because my dad was afraid that it would pull the motor off of the mount and hurt me i mean that would be bad since I'm only 19 SO and another thing i ran it a couple a few times and on one of the times i was running it the motor was on high so i wanted to turn it to low and the toggle was stiff tried to flip it down and it messed up one more thing i even turned it on it side to see what it would like and the motor became disconnect from the mount man if only i had not twisted it too tight
