It’s 2024 and the TL -Type S still looks good. Their’s a Kinetic Pearl Blue Type S
for sale close to my place with 100k miles, completely stock, clean , no dash cracks, exterior is super clean, timing belt was just done. Only thing is small rip in the passenger seat which is common from what I’ve seen.
Doesn’t have the waffles on it, it has those 17inch 5 star rims
I honestly still love the look of the 3rd gen TL and I think I am going to go take a closer look at it.
Recently switched from leasing new every 4 years to buying a 15 Accord 6-6 Coupe but for the price this TL would be a sweet second car to bring back and give it some love.
If you’ve still got that bad boy, good for you.
That nighthawk black Pearl paint looks beauty.
As you get older you definitely respect the gems of prior generations.

My 2012 TSX had the Bluetooth unit fail too. The TL was actually cheap compared to the TSX unit which was around $1600. I didn’t pay that price but hearing that made me think of the frustration. I traded the car in 2 and a half years ago but it was a nice little car.

You know the one thing that I've learned from owning my 6-speed manual version Type S this car gets horrendous gas mileage city driving I've been getting like 15 miles to the gallon doing granny driving And with gas being $5 a gallon for 91 in California this car has been destroying my wallet ever since I bought it Good car just wish it got better gas mileage
Yeah it's awful bro. Mine gets like 17 mpg. It's modified, but that is still horrible.
@@DhruvDrives And being a 91 only car just stings even more I'm in California gas at a lot of gas stations right now cost $5 a gallon I'm putting in close to $70 for a full tank of gas every 3 days Good Lord is my wallet begging for mercy it's such a good car but That one huge flaw just makes me want to sell it And get something else

@@DhruvDrives And I have a 6-speed manual version extremely rare to come across in the first place owned it for a couple months And now I'm already having thoughts of selling it because of just how God awful this car gets when it comes to gas mileage You look on the flyer on the internet And it says 22 city 27 highway doesn't sound that bad but in reality it's not that at all gets more like 15 and 18 At best It's horrible
@@patrickcarrillo714 i have a base tl, except its auto, got it for 1k because "it didnt run," as it turns out, first owners didnt do the maintanence for it for 140,000 miles (transmission fluid, and some electrical) did the fluid changes, fixed the electronics, spent less then 1300 on the whole car. Works flawlessly, gas is the only problem lol
Personally I actually like the steering wheel I like thinner wheels I don't like those real chunky ones to this day Acura has always had thinner wheels which I personally don't have a problem with
I bought my 07 in silver. Had been rear ended so the back is replaced, and doesn't look the best from behind. Was hit a few times, but no major damage and still looks flawless from front. Had 170k miles in it, got it under 5k dollars. But it does have the sporty rims like you have, and sounds fantastic. Terrible gas mileage, but the sound, comfort and handling in highway is worth it I'd say.
Great video! It really is a timeless design and has a great persona. If someone has a chance to scoop one up in nice condition they should!

I have a 06 TL base model. Still very nice, VTEC kicks in hard arou 5Krpm with AIR intake on👍luv the TYPE S, BUT ALWAYS GITTA GET THE MANUAL👍👍👍ALWAYS.....

My 6 speed manual is really fun to drive only downside driving it on hills and in traffic on the freeway other than that great One thing I have learned This thing kind of blows when it comes to gas mileage and being a premium fuel only car kind of stings too It's not terrible I usually get 17 to 19 mi to the gallon city driving which is what I mainly do But living in California and having to pay $4.10 for 91 as of writing this Yeah it kind of sucks having to spend $60 every week Just on gas other complaints headliner sagging and center console foam disintegrating and being hard as a rock on your elbow

Got one myself 08 TLS auto in good shape I do have to change some parts on it tho like timing belt water pump ball joints and upper control arms do a full tune up change all filters and fluids and I will be okay
Timing belt and water pump will be pretty expensive.
Yea I got the kit OEM for 200$ and my mechanic for labor will charge me 350$ including serpentine belt and all those bearings

All the kits are there how much is labour in the us am from Canada btw and yea the car does need some work to be on the road it has 220km how many miles you got on your TLS?
I had a TSX also which is also a great car

Hey Dhruv. Nice review, a week ago I bought exact same model - 2008 TL Type S night hawk pearl. I will be replacing timing belt and water pump next week. What are the other potential problems that you would put on the list?
Congrats ! Have the ball joints, motor mounts looked at , and check for oil leaks. I have a video on the channel about what issues are common the TL type s. Check it out!

U plan on getting tints? Down pipe would prob give u more power. You’ve probs lost some power from the car being as old as it is. With a tune it would probs wake up a good amount especially with the mods u have
The windows are already heavily tinted, it sometimes looks like it's not cuz of lighting lol. Im thinking of getting J-Pipe soon for some more torque, but I'm honestly good with the power it has rn. I would tune if it was 6spd

I am looking to buy this car for my wife. We are offering the guy $5500 Canadian as is for a 2007 type s Silver 100% stock, automatic with 222,000 KM ( ~138,000 miles) . So far we have about $900 of work to do off the bat including driver ball joint, front brakes/rotors and swaybar link stabilizers. Possibly timingbelt right away or maybe in near future. Do you think that's worth it?

so maybe thinking about buying a TL, is a Type S worth it, Automatic transmissions in these are bad or was that just from people who didn’t do the maintenance? Heard manual transmission was the one to get. Me I could careless about driving faster than everyone else I just want a sedan Ill enjoy my last sedan was a Subaru Impreza why’d I give it up?…good question lol
The automatic in the TL type s is good. The auto trans in 2004-2006 models sucked

Go with a g37. Better engine with timing chain instead of belt

I might be closing in on a Silver 07 Type S with the 6 Speed Manual with 94k miles for $13k I personally want to pay $12k what do you think is 13 a good deal for a 94k one with the 6 speed the seats look to be in similar condition as yours except the dash is cracked thoughts?
Make sure the timing belt and water pump have been done. Check the recent maintenance records as well. If those have been done then that it is a good price.

They aren’t bad, but they are pretty laggy compared to cars of today. The car shifts better on its own tbh

Has the automatic been reliable? I heard that the manual is more reliable and that the auto isn’t that reliable.
It is very reliable! The 04-06 TLs have problematic automatic transmissions, but 07-08 are great.
