    Here from tiktok, as a Colombian this is one of those cases that everyone here knows of, but very few outside do because "people die all the time in latin America", so thank you for telling this very gruesome and sad story. Happy to see the longer format content working for you. I'd just like to point out that you've kept saying and writing Columbia, which is a city in the US, this case happened in Colombia, the country, some of my compatriots get pretty upsetti spaghetti when people make that tiny mistake.
    I also wanted to point out that many people were actually rooting for the Beast's release, so he could be handled by the community (he wouldn't honestly last long as a free man) but alas, he died of eye cancer in prison. A win is a win, I guess.

      Okay first of all thank you for pointing out the spelling because I’m super dyslexic and didn’t even notice!
      Second yeah I saw people saying that they don’t think he wants to get released out of fear of everyone on the outside. It’s still wild to me even with the precautions put in place that he wasn’t killed in prison

      @@DaisyFoko really makes one think about "do unto others as you would like have done unto ones self" If such a "devout" man had been raised with kindness and love instead of what he experienced would he have improves the lives of 600 people and would those 400 boys be alive today to be helping even more people? The ripple effects of a single persons actions are almost unfathomable. But then again 85% of the world identifies with a religion and 31% of that is christian and 21% is muslim meaning 52% of all religious folk believe in a single prophet.

    If anyone was ever set up to be a serial killer, it was this poor man. I know he turned out a psycho, but he really just became all he knew. Pain& suffering.

      Yes, socialization certainly plays a huge role unfortunately

    • @DaisyFoko
      @DaisyFoko  8 місяців тому +22

      There’s validity in both of these comments. You can’t help how you’re socialized of course. But I was just reading yesterday about how the biggest factor in how you react to trauma isn’t actually who you are, what the trauma is, or anything like that. It’s actually a matter of support system. How did your friends and family react to you being traumatized? In this case, he had no friends or familial closeness, so there is no support system, which is a huge contributing factor to why he was unable to cope. Now, like I said in the video, understanding why he turned out the way he is doesn’t mean that there’s any sort of justification in it. It’s more that this is a cautionary tale of how somebody can end up being an absolute nightmare and what ingredients create that recipe. We can feel for the child that he was when he was innocent and terrible things were happening to him while simultaneously condemning the man he became with deep disgust

    Honestly I want to find a documentary on other prisons and the covert psychological torture they inflict. The fact that they harbor this essential resource and ration their water out daily, but have a well manicured pond with plenty of the unattainable in it just outside of reach... that's twisted

    Daisy! This one was so horrific and I'm sure it took a toll on you, but thank you. I had never heard of him. I have so many questions though. How large of a town or city was he hunting in? Did people not realize that FOUR HUNDRED kids were killed? Did they just keep letting their boys go to parks alone?? At age 7?
    His childhood was the recipe for creating a serial killer and that's so tragic. My heart hurts for the person he could have been but it hurts worse for the children he tortured & killed. 😭

    • @DaisyFoko
      @DaisyFoko  8 місяців тому +2

      He was moving through pretty rural towns, ppl from different towns weren’t aware of the missing kids in the towns next door for a while due to this happened pre-internet, & going to parks alone is more of a cultural & class thing. If you can’t afford childcare but have to work your kids only have so many kid friendly spaces outside of the home and one common one is usually parks because there’s always some parents there. In Columbia at this time kids commonly worked odd jobs so they had much more independence than the average American child today. Other cultures do similar things for example it’s pretty common in Japan for child’s to commute alone or to run errands.
      His childhood is unfortunately a terrible situation & that kind of trauma is how sociopaths are made.

    45:00 the part about hands, many abused children when in school or just in life drawing pictures of themselves and their family, will depict their abusers without hands. But everybody else has hands. We associate that persons hands w the actual abuse that’s being inflicted. The hand inflicts violence. Similar to the “two birds” idea, I think.
