The thing that makes these vids so enjoyable is the fantastic recording and video quality... the drums are mixed excellently with not too much EQ and/or compression that we can't even hear the natural sound of the drums, that makes it all the more fun to watch and listen too
That's why I say, metal drumming always has a unique beat! It isn't like other genres of music where the beats are constant and just repetitive. This one is a bit random but a bit more unique, I don't know what else to say, just unique...
what it really depends on is personal preference i prefer it a little bit loose to get the more muffled sounds but its up to you if you want it really tight
He uses Axis longboard pedals, I'm not sure what line but they did a video on bass drum work and he tells you there I think, but I'm certain they're Axis.
I have Pearl Powershifters and have no problems with any of that stuff! Gene Hoglan uses Camco pedals and plays in leg weights and, boots! It doesn't matter what kind of pedals you use! It's all about technique!
Love it so much. Can anybody help me with this? I am a beginning double kicker. But I cannot get my double kick to feel comfortable. And is important that the skin the beater hits is tight?
@seanlame I can't believe you've responded! I want to let you know that because of you, I like heavy metal music and heavy metal drumming. You've influenced me and so has your band. By the way, will the new First Reign album be on iTunes?
Sir Lang, how long were you a drummer before you got serious about it? And what beater heads are you using there? And the rack tom heads, are they just stock or?? I don't see any branding at all and they sound groovy as hell! Sorry for all the questions I'm just so eager to learrnnnn!
Sean, how do you have that anzing base souding? And what are tge white round thingy that you pedals hit? Btw great videos :) you should make a cover of miss may i or we came as romans !:D it would make mumy day if you thougth is how they play:P cheers
;) i know. you're right. in MY opinion this guy's videos are WAY better than the ones that say it's a lesson on beginner fills and the guy hardly tries to explain what he's doing and doesn't slow anything down for us. what a jerk!
i think it would be better if you would show some more linear fills not fills ins, the fill ins are coll but i would need more insperation in the linear stuff on the double bass vor some polyrythmic things or stuff like this
Could anyone can tell me how to perform the quickly 4 bass drum hits, at 1:45? I know there is a special way to do that, but I've never understood how. Thanks
Love that there is minimal talking and pretty much just examples. More people need to have lessons like this.

Firstly: best intro (no intro); secondly: awesome fills, really awesome! Great job, Sean!
Example 4 fill is awesome!! And Loving the head cam.

These lessons are so helpful! Thank you for taking you time with these and making them free on youtube!
what it really depends on is personal preference i prefer it a little bit loose to get the more muffled sounds but its up to you if you want it really tight

This a another great video :D The solo at the end felt like being reborn.
He uses Axis longboard pedals, I'm not sure what line but they did a video on bass drum work and he tells you there I think, but I'm certain they're Axis.
I want your bass drum sound
Its triggered
No it's not. It's EQ'ed in post.
eq and compression, bro
3 and 4 were sweet. i totally take back what i said on the previous videos!
im glad to say I can do those drum beats buti can only learn by the sounds of drum beats rather than the name of the notes and tabs etc
a big thank you for that amazing fill-ins! so much inspiration, especially ex. 4 is great
Thanks you made these very easy to learn :)
I liked Ex. 4 the most. I've seen fills similar to it and I've wondered about how it was performed.
the kit sound sick as hell
His beaters are so short! How does he get any power out of them?
Drum triggers man
malthe jacobsen it’s not triggered, it’s just eq’d and compressed
Direct pass to favorites!
have ever seen joey jordison playng live?I did and I have seen drummer like kollias and Inferno too. Jordison is a great drummer.
Awesome drumset!
Got all of them (not at your speed), except #4. Thanks again!
You need to upload a whole drum solo with that go pro. That was pretty cool.
i love your kit man!! Nice work!!
@Cobrakai77 Cheers! Thanks for watching!
I have Pearl Powershifters and have no problems with any of that stuff! Gene Hoglan uses Camco pedals and plays in leg weights and, boots! It doesn't matter what kind of pedals you use! It's all about technique!

ex 4 is a variation on my my favourite fill to play, noice
gotta work on the 4th one!

@maggot6639 He already has it posted somewhere on this channel, it's called the flat-foot technique, look it up :D.
Playing them fills like a boss.
thanks for posting this man, i really like the fills :D
Love it so much. Can anybody help me with this? I am a beginning double kicker. But I cannot get my double kick to feel comfortable. And is important that the skin the beater hits is tight?
Nice to ear that they finaly used trigger on the kick!!
Sean's the man
HIs footwork is so solid
sounds nice guy!!
I'm not a huge fan of online drum lessong myself, but I have to say this vid has some pretty rad fills
@seanlame I can't believe you've responded! I want to let you know that because of you, I like heavy metal music and heavy metal drumming. You've influenced me and so has your band. By the way, will the new First Reign album be on iTunes?
Keep on coming Metal Vidz :D
Love your tom sound! Please tell us what heads you use? Top and bottom. And tuning?
NICE!
number 4 was freakin beast!!!!!
what is that song playing in the intro?
its a very good rudiment also
Try not to tense up when you play fast notes. Relax and use a lot of finger and wrist. Also, chop out whenever you can :)
omg the toms sound amazing *____*
I wish my doubles sounded like yours...I wish I had your drumset too.
Not sure if just a random intro song or not, but that intro song is awesome and if anybody knows its title please tell me!
that last part made me like the video
drumlessonscom I was wondering if that intro was a snippet of an actually song. Or you guys only created a short intro for the video. Thanks
awesome
wtf? that solo on the last part.. very like it... btw is that an axis pedal?
Sir Lang, how long were you a drummer before you got serious about it? And what beater heads are you using there? And the rack tom heads, are they just stock or?? I don't see any branding at all and they sound groovy as hell! Sorry for all the questions I'm just so eager to learrnnnn!
the beaters he's using are the pearl quad beaters they have two felt sides and two plastic sides. They're not bad beaters
Sean, how do you have that anzing base souding? And what are tge white round thingy that you pedals hit? Btw great videos :) you should make a cover of miss may i or we came as romans !:D it would make mumy day if you thougth is how they play:P cheers
Hey Sean ,
Could you try adding some polyrhythm ?
i loved that ending...
I want a drum cover of any metal song by Sean so badly.
awesome looking kit, what is it?
Holy shit his kick sounds incredible :O
WE NEED MORE METAL!
@ChrisGoveaTorres Interesting...that might just happen...soon...very soon....
ex 4 is epic!
;) i know. you're right. in MY opinion this guy's videos are WAY better than the ones that say it's a lesson on beginner fills and the guy hardly tries to explain what he's doing and doesn't slow anything down for us. what a jerk!
you just gotta keep practicing. with time you'll build up your technique and that will ultimately lead you to more speed and control.
I have a pearl drumset, is my room now an oyster?
Its a clip of a song from my solo project, Seven Year Storm. Check out the teaser and recording videos on my channel if you want to hear more!
Oh yha dude the end of this video is badass...hell yha dude
i think it would be better if you would show some more linear fills not fills ins, the fill ins are coll but i would need more insperation in the linear stuff on the double bass vor some polyrythmic things or stuff like this
Ex 1 is able to play with 1 basspedal as well
Holy crap nice double bassing
could you show us your technique for that smooth DB?
well said.
So do I, but their basic tempo is still relatively slow. As I said, they often go with slow tempo, but with deep sub-divisions, often 32:nd notes
They're example tempos, he's not saying you should play these only at whatever tempo they say.
What is the name for example 4? Really trying to find more videos that break that down
this guy is a boss
hey sean, can we get a gear video please, also, is that a HH ROCK RIDE??? SIZE??
Exercise 1 you play double bass where in the sheet music it only says single 16th bass note.
Axis are great. They're very loud. Easily one of the loudest on the market.
ohh I have double pedals too but I dont find the way I can use them... I'm so sad... Btw these were really good fills
please tell me I NEEEEEED to learn how to get my bass drum to sound like the one u kicking asap
The learning curve between these fills and the beginning fills is more like a cliff dive, haha.
0:53 blew me away haha
you are drum monster!
thanks man :D awesome
Your drum kit is wicked O_O I'm jealous
Those quick little quads sound like mush when I play them...
Okay thanks
Could anyone can tell me how to perform the quickly 4 bass drum hits, at 1:45? I know there is a special way to do that, but I've never understood how.
Thanks
Really fucking awesome thanks man!
