Chris is such an inspiration. He pulled me out of deep hole by recharging my desire to play drums again. His style is unique, well thought out and very tasteful. Chris's approach to playing reminds of Keith Moon alot. Thanks Chris, Scott and Allen and hope to see ya when you all tour again.
That's awesome! I'm a hobby guitarist that can't seem to surpass the intermediate level, mostly due to lack of time to really dig in, what with life's wonderful things such as family, and all the musts as a job and chores. I often find myself lacking self-esteem, but then I get inspired by listening to some of my favorite bands (lately it's been Shiner, Traindodge, The Life And Times, Swervedriver and the like), and I sort of pick up on things, try to simplfy what I do myself and not try to make the guitar parts very intricate, because I sort of get lost and cannot handle it. I must leave room for the driving bass guitar that drives the rhythm with the drums. And then I start feeling like I'm on to something. It's easy to get discouraged by seeing virtuosos or just great guitarists play, but I have to remind myself that I must make do with what I've got, and that I'm not really a beginner myself.
I've been watching this video roughly two times a day for the last couple weeks. it such a great song & mesmerized from 2:55 to the end. Glad I reunited with them in SF a couple months back. Hadn't seen them since 2009!

The beginning of the song reminds me of The Smashing Pumpkins, the song Window Paine, or how it's spelled... But I really like the way this song develops into controlled chaos.
